Posted these at madjacksports...
4/5 Echols-Said under 9.5 +158...small (loser)
4/5 Phillips-Candelo over 9.5 -330...small (winner)
4/7 Campbell-Hlatswayo over 11.5 -145...average (winner)
4/8 Librado-Grant under 11.5 +227...small (winner)
Broke even on the WNF's card but started this weekend with two very nice winners. Sorry for not posting, been busy this week, but you all know where to find my weekly picks.
Played these for tonight...
Mayweather under 10.5 -123...small
Diaz by decision +100...average
Also put a little on Diaz in rounds 10-12 at +700 just in case his high workrate and body shots wear Cotto down late, Jose has never gone 12 and has only gone 10 twice, but he should make it to the 10th easily thus the small hedge

What's your opinion on Arce-Alvarez? Alvarez over by 3 lbs. makes this a non title fight, I believe. I appreciate all your insights, as I love boxing on Saturday nights, but cannot follow as much as I would like.

Arce comes in heavy most of his fights anyway so it shouldn't play a major difference in the bout. I'm playing Arce and the under. Arce could end it early but also could be caught with his "all-out" style.

The X-factor in this fight is Alvarez being 35 almost 36 yrs old. Obviously he's on the downside of his career, but does he have enough left in the tank for one last war?
Arce is a madman with tons of power and he's in his prime at a young 26. Arce is not the most technically sound boxer and he doesn't have blazing speed, but he makes up for all that with constant aggression, huge power shots, and a ton of heart.
3 years ago Alvarez might of won this fight, but now I think he's in big trouble. Alvarez has always fought at 108 and 112, even in the last few years, but now he can't even get within 3 pounds of 112. That tells me he's putting on some aging weigh which always makes a fighter slower and unable to get off.
Alvarez' extra weight won't effect Arce as he will probably come into the ring around 125 or more
OK, so I'm going nowhere fast...
I wouldn't lay the wood on Arce straight b/c Alvarez has a very good chin, he's never been stopped and has fought plenty of big punchers. There's a chance he will make it to the cards and with Don King behind him anything could happen. I wouldn't lay -150 on the under or Arce by KO b/c of Alvarez' chin. Arce by decision at +380 has some value
I recommend parlaying Arce with something you like down the road, getting even money or close to it. Then hedge with Alvarez by decision +800 just in case. At 36 yrs old, I don't see Alvarez stopping Arce...period.
Hope this helps...probably not...hard to tell how the age will effect the fight
Sorry for the delay in responding, had a small computer problem

Adding
Arce over Alvarez -325...average
After looking at the fight one more time and watching the big line movement on Arce at pinny over the last 10 minutes...I'm jumping on the Arce train
Pinny moved from -320 to -380...sportsbook.com still had -325 so I hit it
Alvarez' hasn't done anything but beat Mendoza in last few years, Mendoza hasn't beat anyone beside Alvarez (by dq) unless you count Yo-Sam Choi. Alvarez taking a draw against Victor Burgos 2 years ago tells me he's about done.
I wanted to play Arce from the beginning, glad you guys posted and pushed me over the edge

I know fighters talk the talk. PBF has stated his game plan. Zab will be there. I do believe this is a no go the the twelve.

On the same wager as well. We already got 2 of 2, let's see if we can make it 3 of 3. GL man.
