View Full Version : If you could make one UFC fight who would it be?
Meaning, if you could get two fighters and put them together in the old octagon for a UFC PPV who would it be?
I think right now for me I would want to see Hughes vs. Swick as I would love to see Hughes get KOed.

haha. yeah, that would be great. a middleweight vs. the welterweight champion. :) i wish hughes and franklin would have met in the middle and fought. it's tradition for TUF coaches to fight after the show. stupid christian friendship.
I know I am mixing weight classes but that is what I am talking about. You can put anyone in with anyone like in the UFC 1 days.
Diego Sanchez vs Takanori Gomi ---------that would be Sanchez's first loss

Liddell vs. Silva - UFC 64
Wow so much awesome action. First off Whale opening lines are up at Pinny...

WC BIAS - Why UFC 64? This sounds like it is coming sooner than later, and Liddell will lose IMO....
DMMD98 - Can Chuck handle a Pride fighter? One word RAMPAGE. But Mirko Cro Cop Filpovic vs Chuck Liddell - this would be a great fight. I have seen Cro Cop get hit pretty hard and keep coming to eventually win, but I would have Chuck taking this one on speed.
EJP - You have got me I will have to go look into Takanori Gomi... But Sanchez looked very beatable his last time out, gotta wonder if success is going to his head?
Whale you 25 me 75... My agent has the contract ready....

you really think Swick would KO Hughes? Not me, I think Swick would get hurt in that matchup. If we're talking only current UFC fighters, I'd like to see Franklin go back up to 205 and fight Liddell.

If Chuck wins, and i think he will, I don't think they would set him up to fight six weeks later. That's not a lot of time to heal and train for one of if not the biggest fight of his life. I'm hearing superbowl weekend, which I believe would be 64.
I think there is more depth at Price, but other than the heavyweights, I think the top UFC fighters are as good as the top Pride fighters. As much as anyone hates to admit it, the top Pride guys seem to slowly be filtering into UFC bouts....not vice versa. And I hear there are more to come.

BTW...I think Ortiz gets the winner of Liddell/Silva (if it comes down). Ortiz has got his name back in the game and although he's burned quite a few bridges, I believe his showing on TUF won back a lot of fans and won some new ones.
Fedor Emelianenko is the BEST heaveyweight out there hands down IMO. Tell me, who can take him out in any of the leagues?

Yes that is why there is no dream match for him cause he'd kill anyone in UFC and he has won against everyone in Pride so dream matches with Cro Cop and Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira have already happen with Fedor winning.

you guys are right about there really being nobody for Fedor to fight, but I'd still love to see him come in and beat the hell out of Tim Sylvia

Oh man would I love to see this... If I had a time machine that might be one of the first things I did.
Freaking Kerr, the most loveable time bomb of all time...

EC - Sorry man, I am so juiced about the possibility of Liddell v. Silva that I totally forgot about Babalu who I also think is way out classed by Chuck...

although I think I'm off one weight class here,, my dream UFC fight would be George (Rush) St. Pierre vs Rich (Ace) Franklin.. These are probably two of the most dynamic and exciting fighters around, that fight would be non-stop action as most St.Pierre fights are... Hughes vs Franklin would be a lot of fun too.. actually any combination of fights between these three would be a great one.. After his victory over BJ Penn,, St.Pierre must have a title shot coming up with Hughes pretty soon I would think

UFC 63: SEPTEMBER 23 IN CALIFORNIA
-Matt Hughes vs. Georges St. Pierre for the UFC Welterweight Title
-David Loiseau vs. Mike Swick
shaping up to be a pretty good card so far
Personally, I would like to see Fedor kick Tim Sylvia's ass.

i used to post on sher dog but there seemed to be alot of "babies" on there. so let me give this site a try. they are already hopefully going to have my dream fight liddell/silva. i like both fighters but giving the edge to chuck. the only problem i have is if chuck happens to lose to babulu(which i dont think happens)then their fight becomes a 3 rd fight instead of a 5 rd championship fight.

5SJ, Sherdog has a lot of haters from both sides...but it comes with the territory. We are talking about MMA. I still check it out to get info, most of us here have 1/10 of the knowledge of MMA as your typical sherdog lifers. More fans of the sport here than know-it-alls and haters.
Can't wait for the next four months in UFC. Liddell/Silva and Hughes/GSP are awesome fights, hope they come down.

Couple that I would love to see off the top of my head.
170- Robbie Lawler- George St.Pierre
170-Lee Murray- St.Pierre
205- Chuck Liddell-Bas Rutten
I know Lawler lost a few, but that was at 185. I think he needs to get back down to 170, where he was an animal. That would have been an exciting fight. Bas Rutten and Liddell would just be exciting with both guys throwing bombs. Lee Murray was a badass that seems to have dissapeared. I would think that those 2 meeting up would be an exciting match up...
So who likes St.Pierre in the rematch???

you know why murray disappeared right? im sure you guys heard he was involved in that huge bank job and got nabbed so the only fighting he'll be doing is in prison fighting for free.
i love st. pierre in the rematch and i'll make my wager as soon as the line comes out cause he's definitely taken alot of action

Stupid move by UFC, the only thing good about it is it going to be televised for free.

I've been thinking about that Fedor thing and my dream match would now be Fedor vs Brock Lesnar. No I don't think Brock would win but that match could be hyped up huge. Fedor is Fedor and Brock is training for his MMA debut in Japan plus he was a former NCAA wrestling champion so he is a pretty legit tough guy at the very least he could hold his own with most people.

hopefully brock's transition into mma is successful. he has a good pedigree as a ncaa wrestling champion. matt hughes, dan severn, mark coleman, randy couture have all had success in mma. but he's going to need to work on alot of other things beside wrestling to compete with someone like fedor imo. at least i hope he doesn't end up like bam bam bigelow when he got his ass cracked by kimo.

From what I've heard, Lesner is training with the guys at Militech (Hughes,Sylvia,Franklin etc etc) so he'll be ready when they get him into a fight. He's a very good wrestler but needs work on his punches (or so I hear). Also, a great wrestler doesn't equal a great submitter (public perception) but I think Lesnar will do well in Pride. I doubt Militech puts him in the UFC with Sylvia though.
On a side note, Crocop might be coming to UFC since he pulled out of the GP and is pissed about money in Pride. Would be nice to see him. UFC needs to grab Rampage Jackson from WFA as well.

Crocop was just trying to get more money out of Pride since for the Grand Prix show he'll have the fight twice in one night but he complained that he was only going to get paid per one fight and a winners bonus. Pride made him happy and now he is all set to fight for them again.

Well the good news is that it is rumored to be on Spike TV....that will be alot better than being on PPV...I cant justify paying to watch it but since it could be free i would be all over it. I wouldnt be suprised if.... Babulu beats Chuck....and tito beats ken....then tito fights for the belt in Jan or Feb

Dream MMA Fights:
Liddell vs. Silva (it's a reality though in November)
Liddell vs. Shogun
Liddell vs. Rampage
Liddell vs. Tito (just to see Tito get knocked out again)
Fedor vs. Sylvia (not that it would be a great fight, I would just love to see Fedor destroy that cocky, overrated bastard).
Fedor vs. Nogueira (closest thing to Fedor in Heavys)
Frank Shamrock (out of retirement) vs. Rampage
Tito vs. Bas (Tito was always afraid of Bas)
Franklin vs. Henderson (2 best at 185)
Franklin vs. Hughes (will definitely never happen)
GSP vs. Hughes (can't wait for this)
Penn vs. Hughes (Hughes could avenge his losses)
GSP vs. Diego
Gomi vs. Diego
There are some other potential good ones. I would also like to see Barnett come back to UFC. Their heavyweight division needs severe help!
