Setting up my league, wondering if anyone has advice on rules settings, particulary for the bench.

Looking at 10-12 teams in the league, with 11 starters (2 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 TE, 1 RB/WR/TE, 1 K, 1 D).

What should I do about the bench? Should we even have a bench (or practice squad?)

I'm leaning toward no bench, and only allowing reserves if a player is placed on IR (like baseball), and just letting guys add/drop anyone via waivers from week 1. Draft will be auction and with 11 positions already might take too long if we get into bench spots.

Thanks for any input.

In the NFL if a guy goes on IR he is done for the season, it isn't like the baseball disabled list. You need a bench, otherwise free agency and waivers will be a weekly free for all and mess. What happens when the Chargers have a bye? The guy has to drop LT and Gates or choose to play with a 0 at their position if he wants to keep him? You won't find anyone willing to play in the league.

Go 16 players to a team like most leagues do and everyone will have 5 guys on their bench.

Ya gotta have a bench. I prefer a deep bench in my leagues but that takes away some of the fun of picking up guys from the waiver wire. I'd say at least allow 5 bench spots because guys go down in the NFL fairly often.
