There's actually no "unsubscribe" button on the email SS sent.

Maybe it's cuz it was a regular email instead of the newsletter?

SS, take me off your personal mailing list, I guess. Thanks.

Well what if Wil wants to email me to tell me that I'm on PR for a month? Then I won't be able to receive it, will I?

TTP, yes, it does. Get off my nuts.

I get fucking 50 spam emails a day and Skins spending a day how not to get updates from the RX the site that built him.

99% of the posters who want to not receive any Rx.com emails like the weekly newsletter or the very rare Sportsavant free contest email just email a moderator and ask. Then there is the 1% who have to start their own thread about how to accomplish the difficult process.

I received two emails today from regualar veteran posters who simply asked to be removed from the Sportsavant Contest email list. They are all set and won't be receiving anymore emails from Sportsavant about contests.

Go figure.

Why send and email when you can just submit a new thread? I am locked down on the RX. I always have it open... BAM

Uh, I didn't think about email. I didn't creating a thread would create such an uproar and be so inappropriate. You know, cuz moderators tend to look at threads often, since it's part of the job description.

Silly me.

It's all a conspiracy, actually. Not sure what I was conspiring to accomplish, but rest assured that it was still undoubtedly a conspiracy.

you are a real bright one,

I guess it never occurred to you that TheRX wants as many people as possible on our mailing lists. When people UNSUBSCRIBE it is not a good thing for our company. (2 + 2 = 4)

Most people quickly delete email they dont want to read, but when you start a thread offshore, you may be giving many members the idea to unsubscribe who woundnt normally, hence,

Less money to put on parties and refund air flights to whiners.

It also puts out an insinuation that we are spamming when all we are doing is sending emails to members.

I know it takes a rocket scientist to figure this out.

Wow, I appreciate you taking a shot at me, SS. Gotta step it up a little, though.

So taking the Rx up on an offer to refund my airfare after it announced a firm date for the Bash and then changed it later, makes me a whiner?

Good to know.

Is there a rule that I have to email moderators if I have an issue or question? Didn't think so. I'm not obligated to email or IM a moderator if I have a question pertaining to any topic. Not my problem if it affects other posters or not. So maybe you should either change the rules or quit YOUR whining.

Skins, the contest email that you received the other day was sent from our admin panel, rather than from our usual mailing server, which is why you didn't see the 'unsubscribe' link. The admin panel mailing list is housed in the backend of the forum software .. our usual mailing list is housed separately.

The forum database was used last week because we were having ISP issues and couldn't access the usual server. By no means is that standard procedure, however.

Another newsletter is going out tomorrow. If you do receive it, you should see an 'unsubscribe' link at the bottom as that email is being sent normally. If you are still on our list after clicking 'unsubscribe', just shoot me an email and I'll look into it.

Cheers!

god forbid you would do something to help the site that you enjoy so much out, my point is simply that the RX is very generous and there WAS a bash in august (even though it was a mini version).

I guess you make your point clear however, you can take as much as you want from the site, but could give two shits about ever giving anything back. If your negative thread causes 100 people to unsubscribe from our newsletter, you could care less is what you are saying....

If every poster had that attitude there certainly woudnt be any money for bash's let alone refunds.

SkinsRaj28

Your post doesn't make any sense. Let me try to explain this again so maybe you'll understand.

1) Rx announced that the Bash will be held in August.
2) Rx changes its mind, moves main Bash date to September, after posters had already purchased plane tickets.
3) Rx OFFERS a refund to all those who already bought plane tickets for the August bash and no longer want to attend since it's not the main one.
4) My brother and I accepted the offer.

Where exactly is the whining? I must be missing something.

Your point is that you have no point. You got upset, lost your cool, and made an unfounded, irrational comment. It's understandable, but it's also unacceptable behavior, especially from a moderator.

You don't know what my attitude is. You want to believe that I created the thread to hurt the Rx, which simply wasn't the case. You refuse to believe that I simply didn't think to IM or email a moderator. Take a look at my initial post. Where's the negativity? Exactly.

But that's irrelevant. The bottom line is you're trying to read too much into this, lost your cool and started acting irrationally and emotionally. And that's disappointing, because it reflects poorly on your colleagues as much as it does on yourself. And it's even more disappointing because I've never had any issues with you in the past, and you seemed like a nice guy when we met. But being nice doesn't excuse this behavior, unfortunately.

Take a look at xpanda's posts in this thread. She's a professional, and it shows. Take notes.

OK I'm done in this thread now.

actually,

it was initially mentioned that there would be a refund becoz of the date change, however, shortly after that there was an august mini bash annouced and the refund was then off the table. Everyone was happy and accpeted the "mini" bash except for you.

if you want to know the truth, NOBODY except for Tanya thought that you deserved a refund, and all of the moderators were vehemently against it, but Tanya went to bat for you and got it done, so you should count yourself lucky.

finally, being a moderator on a sports forum does not preculde me from speaking my mind, thats the beaty of this job and why I chose not to work in the corporate world. Trust me when i say that I am not the only RX employee that has been perterved by you lately. Take it for what its worth.

your initial post may not have been negative, and maybe you could not forsee that a post like that could damage the RX and hurt our business, but even after those facts are mentioned to you, your choice is to be beligerent and argumentative. It doesnt take a rocket science to figure out that posting instructions how to unsubscribe from a newsletter could potentially harm a business.
