Without a doubt, the Southeast division of League 4 is shaping up to be the most hotly contested with 3 teams tied for first at 12 and 6. It's pretty much a certainty that all 3 will make the playoffs. However I was in prime position to put a stranglehold on the top spot.

If I were to win both of my matchups this past week, I'd have a 2 and 3 game lead on the others and own all of the tiebreakers (3 game lead in Division record and would be 2-0 head-to-head with both).

When I set my lineup, Tony Gonzales was plugged in at TE and I had every intention of leaving that as is. Then I read the following last Thursday form one those Fantasy bloggers

"The Skins are highly effective at defending tight ends. Since Kevin Boss dropped a fluky 62 yards on them in Week 1, the Skins haven't allowed a TE to top 30 yards all year. Tony Gonzalez is a risk."

Upon reading that, I took out Gonzales and put in Heath Miller, who's had a great season and has actually outperformed Gonzales.

Naturally, Gonzales catches a TD in the first quarter and finishes the game with over 15 points.

One of the weeks matchups was against "Bucs Brawlers" who was sitting at 11-5 in the division. His squad had a substandard week and he was strapped at the TE spot after Owen Daniels got hurt and his backup had a bye. The guy he picked up ended up with 1 catch for 3 yards. I was looking like a lock on Sunday night until Miles Austin caught the 49 yard TD in the 4th quarter. One of my receivers in that game, DeSean Jackson did very little and I ended up needing 6.6 points from Heath Miller on Monday to emerge victorious. Given that he's only had one game where he put up less than that, I wasn't concerned.

I had over a 20 point lead going into Monday's game in my other matchup. However, they had Roethlisberger. As long as Miller catches at least 4 passes, I felt I'd win both.

Late in the 3rd Quarter, Miller catches his 3 pass. I'm still trailing Bucs Brawlers by 1.6 and have a healthy lead in the other matchup. Miller gets one more pass thrown to him about 20 yards downfield, he gets a hand on it but it's a little too high. He never get targeted again and I loses the matchup 116.60 to 115.00.

The other matchup is getting tighter, but the Steelers are running the ball to drain the clock and it looks like I'm going to emerge unless Roethlisberger throws a TD pass to someone other than Miller. If you watched the game, you know what happened on 3rd and goal at the 2.

I lose that matchup 117.80 to 115.00

Of course, If I never read that "Tony Gonzales is a risk", this thread never gets posted.

I thought that the first tiebreaker was total points that you ae scored? I am glad that 3 teams makes the playoffs from each division. One winner and 2 wildcards. It gives me a chance.

But my team really sucks, I will lose my first round matchup in the wildcard round anyway.

Yeah two weeks ago I sat the wrong player that I was wavering on and he had a big game and I should have gone 2-0 instead of 1-1 that week. (I'm Vick in a Box BTW)

That's part of fantasy football though. Just getting lucky and starting the hot guy.

Those bloggers who tell you who to start and sit are really hit and miss. I don't take much weight in what they say. At least try not to. I heard the same thing about Tony G against the Redskins D and I still started him in another league.

If there was some dropoff in my TE's, I probably would've stuck with Gonzales. It's been a tossup on which one to play. Anyway, Miller ended up having his worst week of production. A below average game out of him and I still win those.

[I just bet the #2 at Hawthorne and he came out of the gate without a rider.]
