YTD

-33 units (it ain't gettin' no better)

Had a surprisingly good day in CFB yesterday so thought I'd try to use it to cut into this deficit( can't believe how bad its been) especially since 5dimes is trying to give away money.

MATCH-UPS

3 units Bill Elliott (-245) over Mike Bliss (@5dimes)
3 units Patrick Carpentier (-230) over Joe Nemechek @5dimes)
No way in hell would I normally play this big on lines this high (actually I would have never before played a line this high) but got to try these two.
You've got two teams Wood Brothers (Elliott) and Bill Jenkins (Carpentier) that have full sponsorship and are here to run the full distance matched up with an Independent (Nemecheck) and Prism Motorsports (Bliss) two teams with no sponsorship who are start and park teams. If Elliott and Carpentier can survive the first 10 laps or so (maybe even less) these are winners.

Note: there is a 3rd match-up of this type where David Gilliland (Doug Yates) is -265 over JJ Yeley (Tommy Baldwin). I am laying off this one due to the fact even without sponsorship Baldwin at times makes an effort to run longer than a nomal start and park entry. I haven't been able to find any info on this if any one knows please post.

1.5 units Dave Blaney (+170) Casey Mears (@5dimes)
Two more back markers (but both scheduled to attempt to run the full distance) just think the difference in these teams is mimimal so taking a chance here

1.5 Carl Edwards (-115) over Kyle Busch (@5dimes)
The 99 is my personal favorite today....so that means he'll blow up while leading or some crap like that

1 unit Juan Montoya (+150) over Denny Hamlin (@5dimes)
This is probably JPM's best oval back to back 3rd place runs here so good value with a legitimate chance

1 unit Matt Kenseth (-120) over Dale Jr. (@5dimes)
Neither one lightin' it up in qualifying or happy hour but on raceday the 17 usually shows up( 6.7 avg L10 here...including 6 Top 5's....worst finish was 13th). Jr only has 1 Top 10 in the last 7 here but a respectable 13.7 avg

1 unit Tony Stewart (-125) over Kevin Harvick (@5dimes)
Simply stated Tony looks fast Harvick doesn't

Outrights

0.75 unit Carl Edwards (+1000) @ sportsbook.com
0.50 unit Juan Montoya (+1500) @sportsbook.com
0.50 unit Kasey Kahne (+1200) @sportsbook.com
0.30 unit Ryan Newman (+1800) @sportsbook.com

May add props when they come out if I have any $$$$$ left

Good luck!

The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series moves to the uber-fast Atlanta Motor Speedway...

Emory Healthcare 500
The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series moves to the uber-fast Atlanta Motor Speedway for the 25th race of the 2010 season, the Emory Healthcare 500. NASCAR expert Brian Brown looked at past performances, season trends, and spoke to team contacts to provide the internet's most accurate projection of how the field will finish.

When: Sunday, September 5, 2010; 7:46 p.m./et

Weather: Partly cloudy with a high around 84; wind out of the NE at 4 mph. There is a zero percent chance of precipitation.

The Track: Atlanta Motor Speedway

Atlanta Motor Speedway is a very wide 1.5 mile oval. It has 24 degree banking on the corners. Due to the fast surface and steep banking it is known as the fastest track on the NASCAR circuit.

Key to Race: WILL IT BE A BUSCH SWEEP?

Kurt Busch was very dominant at Atlanta in March. He has been driving well this season and sweep at the track won't surprise us. Kasey Kahne, Jimmie Johnson, Carl Edwards and Kyle Busch have also had recent success at the track.

Qualifying Procedures:

47 cars will attempt to qualify for 43 spots. Starting positions 1-43 will be determined by qualifying on Friday, September 4 at 4:40 pm/et. Cars in the top 35 in owner points are guaranteed a spot in the field.

Fantasy Cheat Sheet:

Top 5

No. 2 Kurt Busch: Busch dominated two of the last three races at Atlanta. It is tough to not choose him this weekend.
No. 9 Kasey Kahne: Kahne has six top five finishes in 13 career races at Atlanta, including a win at the track last September. He is a great choice.
No. 48 Jimmie Johnson: Johnson has visited Victory Lane in two of the past seven Atlanta races. He will be tough to beat this trip to Atlanta.
No. 99 Carl Edwards: In 11 career starts at Atlanta, Edwards has finished in the top seven an impressive nine times. He won the September 2008 race at the track and is one of our favorites to win on Sunday…if he can avoid the No. 12 car's front-bumper.
No. 24 Jeff Gordon: Gordon has four career wins in the ATL and has finished in the top 10 in 18 of the last 23 races at the track. He will be strong once again this weekend.

6 to 10

No. 17 Matt Kenseth: Kenseth has 12 top 10 finishes in 21 starts at Atlanta. The No. 17 will be very good.
No. 42 Juan Pablo Montoya: Montoya has had back-to-back third place finishes at Atlanta. He is a great choice this weekend.
No. 14 Tony Stewart: Stewart won the October 2006 race at Atlanta and has 13 top 10 finishes in 23 starts at the track. He should be in the top 10 once again.
No. 18 Kyle Busch: Busch won the March 2008 race at ATL. He will be back inside the top 10 this weekend.
No. 88 Dale Earnhardt Jr.: Junior has 10 top 10 finishes in the last 18 races at Atlanta and has been one of the best drivers at the track the past four years. This is a rare weekend we think Junior is worth using in all leagues.

11 to 20

No. 29 Kevin Harvick: The last five races Harvick finally seemed to figure out how to drive at Atlanta. He has been awesome this season and will be very fast on Sunday.
No. 16 Greg Biffle: Biffle has been terrible in three of the last seven ATL races and great in the other four. His inconsistency at the track bumps him just outside our top 10.
No. 33 Clint Bowyer: Bowyer finished sixth in four of the past seven races at Atlanta. He should have the No. 33 around the top 10 once again.
No. 11 Denny Hamlin: Hamlin has just three top 10 finishes in 11 career starts in the ATL. He should finish in the top 15, but we don't see a top 10 finish for the No. 11 team.
No. 31 Jeff Burton: Burton has driven well in almost every race at Atlanta since 2004. He should have the No. 31 car in the top 20 once again.
No. 43 A.J. Allmendinger: Allmendinger has cracked the top 20 in each of his career ATL starts. He is a nice sleeper pick this weekend.
No. 5 Mark Martin: Martin has run over 13,800 laps at Atlanta Motor Speedway in his career. The veteran will put all the experience to good use on Sunday.
No. 39 Ryan Newman: Newman is the maestro of qualifying at Atlanta. In the 17 races he has run at the speedway he has started from the pole seven times. We like him to challenge for the pole and finish inside the top 20.
No. 00 David Reutimann: Reutimann finished fourth at Atlanta last September, but blew an engine at the track this March. He has been driving great lately and shouldn't have a problem finishing inside the top 20.
No. 56 Martin Truex Jr.: Truex has a top 15 driver rating at ATL the past four years. He could be a bit of a sleeper pick on Sunday.

21 to 30

No. 98 Paul Menard: Menard was a good shoe during the March at Atlanta. He is worth using for those of you desperate for a sleeper.
No. 20 Joey Logano: Logano has struggled at Atlanta so far in his career. This is a difficult track for many drivers and we recommend avoiding "Sliced Bread" until he gets a few more laps under his belt.
No. 1 Jamie McMurray: McMurray has averaged a 21st place finish in 15 career starts at Atlanta. We see him taking the checkers around there again.
No. 12 Brad Keselowski: Keselowski was taken out by Carl Edwards at Atlanta in March. All eyes will be on the No. 12 to see if he can retaliate by putting the No. 99 into the fence.
No. 82 Scott Speed: Speed was awesome during March's Atlanta race. If you need someone to round out your roster there are much worse choices.
No. 47 Marcos Ambrose: The Tasmanian Devil will have the No. 47 back inside the top 25.
No. 19 Elliott Sadler: Sadler has never been great at Atlanta, but he will be good enough this weekend to crack the top 30.
No. 83 Reed Sorenson: Sorenson would love to have a strong finish in his home-state, but we don't see it happening. He hasn't cracked the top 25 in the ATL since 2007.
No. 6 David Ragan: The Georgia native has struggled at Atlanta. He won't notch the top 25 finish he is so desperate for at his home-track
No. 13 Casey Mears: Mears takes over the No. 13 ride this weekend. He should crack the top 30.

31 to 35

No. 77 Sam Hornish Jr.: Hornish Jr. has struggled at Atlanta. He will be doing well to crack the top 30.
No. 21 Bill Elliott: If you are looking for an extreme bargain driver this weekend Awesome Bill from Dawsonville is your man. Elliott is a five time winner at Atlanta and knows the track better than any driver in the race.
No. 7 Kevin Conway: Conway should be good enough to finish inside the top 35.
No. 78 Regan Smith: Smith has averaged a 27th place finish at ATL during his career. That isn't going to help your fantasy squad.
No. 34 Travis Kvapil: Kvapil is guaranteed a spot in Sunday's race. Not everyone can say that, now can they?

Field Fillers
No. 71 Bobby Labonte
No. 87 Joe Nemechek
No. 66 Scott Riggs
No. 55 Mike Bliss
No. 26 Patrick Carpentier
No. 09 Landon Cassill

The Night Race at Bristol
The NASCAR Sprint Cup makes its next stop at Bristol Motor Speedway's half-mile coliseum for the IRWIN Tools Night Race. We looked at past performances, season trends, and spoke to team contacts to give the internet's best prediction of how the field should finish.

When: Saturday, August 21; 7:30 p.m./et.

Weather: Isolated thunderstorms with a high around 86; wind out of the SW at 6 mph. Chance of precipitation 30%.

The Track: Bristol Motor Speedway

Bristol Motor Speedway is a half-mile oval with high-banking the entire way around. The corners are banked 36 degrees with 16 degree banking on the straight-aways. This is a track where very few drivers have been able to dominate. Kyle Busch, Kurt Busch, and Jeff Gordon have all had decent success at the track, but that status can change with one nudge to the left-rear bumper.

Key to Race: DON'T BRING YOUR BEST CAR

The Bullring in Bristol has been described a flying an airplane in a gymnasium. There will be no cars that escape Saturday's race without at least a little sheet metal damage. The Night Race is one of the most entertaining on the circuit for fans and frustrating for drivers. Expect tempers to flare as the cars bump and bang. The driver that wins the race will be the one with the best set of pit stops and the most luck.

Qualifying Procedures:

50 cars will attempt to qualify for 43 spots. Starting positions 1-43 will be determined by qualifying on Friday, August 20 at 5:40 pm/et. Cars in the top 35 in owner's points are guaranteed a spot in the race.

Fantasy Cheat Sheet:

Top 5

No. 2 Kurt Busch: Busch has won five races at Bristol during his career and was awesome at the track in March. He is still a strong option.
No. 18 Kyle Busch: Rowdy has had one of the top cars the past four races at Bristol. There is a good chance he can take the checkers again on Saturday.
No. 99 Carl Edwards: Edwards won two of the last three night races at Bristol and has placed in the top 16 the past nine races at the track. He is a great pick.
No. 14 Tony Stewart: Stewart has led 770 laps in the past nine races at Bristol. He should be strong once again this weekend.
No. 48 Jimmie Johnson: Johnson had one of the fastest cars in the past three Bristol races and won at the track earlier this year. He will be tough to beat.

6 to 10

No. 24 Jeff Gordon: Gordon has five wins and has led nearly 2,400 laps at Bristol during his career. He should be in the top 10 once again on Saturday.
No. 29 Kevin Harvick: Harvick has 11 top 10 finishes in 19 career races at Bristol. RCR has been terrific this year and Harvick is again a driver to consider.
No. 17 Matt Kenseth: Kenseth has 13 top 10 finishes in 21 career starts and has led 539 laps during the last 10 races at the track. He is a great option on Saturday.
No. 11 Denny Hamlin: Hamlin has led 282 laps in the past seven races at Bristol. He should have the No. 11 inside the top 10 when the dust settles.
No. 16 Greg Biffle: Biffle has nine top 10 finishes in 15 career starts at Bristol. He is a very good fantasy option.

11 to 20

No. 88 Dale Earnhardt Jr.: Junior has been very successful at Bristol in his career. In his last 18 starts at the track he has finished 17th or better in 16 of them. Look for him to finish just outside the top 10.
No. 31 Jeff Burton: Burton won the 2008 spring race at Bristol and has been fast at the track lately. He will be fighting for another top 10 finish this weekend.
No. 33 Clint Bowyer: Bowyer has cracked the top 10 in four of his last seven starts at the Bristol. He should finish near the top 10 once again.
No. 5 Mark Martin: Martin has averaged a 14th place finish during his 42 career starts at Bristol, but we suspect at this point in his career he would rather skip the track. He isn't a top option.
No. 9 Kasey Kahne: Kahne was hit-or-miss at Bristol last year. He should just miss the top 15 this weekend.
No. 42 Juan Pablo Montoya: Montoya has cracked the top 20 in four of his past six Bristol starts. We like his chances to do it again on Saturday.
No. 39 Ryan Newman: Newman has six finishes in the top 10, one in the teens, and four finishes in the 30s during his last 11 races at Bristol. His inconsistency makes him a bit of a risky play.
No. 12 Brad Keselowski: Keselowski ran great in his first Cup start at Bristol. He is worth using in all leagues.
No. 00 David Reutimann: Reutimann was impressive at Bristol last year, but had some engine trouble in March. He is a solid choice as a third or fourth driver in any league.
No. 20 Joey Logano: Logano has struggled at Bristol so far in his career. He will be better this trip to the "Bullring".

21 to 30

No. 1 Jamie McMurray: McMurray has finished outside the top 20 in seven of the last 11 races at Bristol. We don't recommend using him as much more than a fourth or fifth fantasy driver this weekend.
No. 56 Martin Truex Jr.: Truex Jr has averaged a 23rd place finish at Bristol during his career. The success he had at the track while in the Nationwide Series has been slow to carry over. We like other drivers much better this weekend.
No. 43 A.J. Allmendinger: Allmendinger has just two top 30 finishes at Bristol in his career. His lack of success at the track bumps him from our top 20.
No. 98 Paul Menard: Menard has cracked the top 25 in five of the last six Bristol races. He should do it again this weekend.
No. 47 Marcos Ambrose: Ambrose wasn't been intimidated by Bristol last year, but he was terrible this March. The Terrific Tasmanian should finish just outside the top 20 this visit to the Volunteer State.
No. 19 Elliott Sadler: Sadler has struggled at Bristol lately. This isn't the weekend to use him.
No. 82 Scott Speed: Speed has averaged a 24th place finish at Bristol so far in his career. He will finish right around his average.
No. 6 David Ragan: Ragan continues to struggle at Bristol. He isn't a fantasy option this weekend.
No. 83 Reed Sorenson: Bristol is a track that Sorenson wishes NASCAR would skip. We recommend saving him for another weekend.
No. 78 Regan Smith: Smith has averaged a top 25 finish at Bristol. He won't be nearly that fast on Saturday.

31 to 35

No. 09 Bobby Labonte: Labonte's average finish at Bristol during his career is 19th. He won't match that finish this weekend.
No. 7 Robby Gordon: Gordon has finished in the top 35 in six of the last eight Bristol races. We expect he will be fast enough to accomplish that again this weekend.
No. 77 Sam Hornish Jr.: Hornish Jr. will continue to struggle to crack the top 30 at Bristol.
No. 34 Travis Kvapil: Kvapil has cracked the top 35 in every race, but one so far this year. He should keep the streak alive on Sunday.
No. 37 David Gilliland: Gilliland is the best option of the remaining 16 drivers. That isn't saying much.

Field Fillers
No. 71 Landon Cassill
No. 36 Casey Mears
No. 87 Joe Nemechek

The Carfax 400
The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series heads to Michigan International Speedway's two mile tri-oval for the 23rd race of the 2010 season, the Carfax 400. NASCAR Fantasy expert Brian Brown analyzed past performances, season trends, and spoke to NASCAR contacts to provide you with the most accurate fantasy preview of Sunday's race.

When: Sunday, August 15, 2010; 1:16 p.m./et.

Weather: Partly cloudy with a high around 81; wind out of the W at 10 mph. There is a 10 percent chance of precipitation.

The Track: Michigan International Speedway

MIS is a 2.0 mile tri-oval. It has 18 degree banking in the turns and 12 degree banking in the tri-oval.

Key to Race: A ROUSH HENDRICK BATTLE

Michigan International Speedway is a race that tends to become fuel mileage race so watch for drivers to conserve fuel at every opportunity and we expect some drivers will pit off-sequence early in the race.

Qualifying Procedures:

47 cars will attempt to qualify for 43 spots. Cars not in the top 35 in the 2010 owner point standings will have to qualify based on speed. Starting positions 1-43 will be determined during qualifying on Friday, August 13 at 3:10 pm/et.

Fantasy Cheat Sheet:

Top 5

No. 2 Kurt Busch: Kurt has been in the lead in over nine percent of the laps he has run at MIS during his career. With the success he has had this season we like his chances.
No. 99 Carl Edwards: Edwards has finished in the top 10 in 10 of his 12 career starts at MIS, including two wins. He is a great option.
No. 48 Jimmie Johnson: Johnson has led 427 laps in the past seven races at MIS. He had the top car on the track last season and could finally get his first win at MIS on Sunday.
No. 16 Greg Biffle: Biffle has nine top 10 finishes in 15 career starts at MIS. He will have a top 10 car once again.
No. 11 Denny Hamlin: Hamlin has finished worse than 14th just once in nine career starts at MIS. He won the June race at the track and is a strong pick again this weekend.

6 to 10

No. 24 Jeff Gordon: Gordon has 18 top five finishes in 35 career starts at MIS. He should finish just outside the top five this weekend.
No. 14 Tony Stewart: Stewart has finished in the top 10 in 12 of the last 16 MIS races. He will have the No. 14 car back inside the top 10 again this weekend.
No. 29 Kevin Harvick: Harvick has averaged a 14th place finish the past eight visits to Brooklyn. With the season he is having he is a must use this weekend.
No. 18 Kyle Busch: Rowdy isn't a huge fan of Michigan International Speedway. He will be satisfied with a top 10 run.
No. 17 Matt Kenseth: Kenseth has had just two finishes worse than 17th in 20 careers starts at the track. He will be a fast shoe this weekend.

11 to 20

No. 5 Mark Martin: Martin won a fuel mileage race at MIS last year. He should be fast this weekend, but we don't see him taking the checkers again.
No. 88 Dale Earnhardt Jr.: Junior won the June race at MIS in 2008 and has led at least a lap in eight of the last 10 races at the track. This will be a respectable finish for the No. 88 team.
No. 9 Kasey Kahne: Kahne has been hit-or-miss at MIS the past six races. He isn't worth using as anything more than a third driver on most fantasy teams.
No. 20 Joey Logano: Logano has been strong at MIS so far in his young career. We expect he will be fast again on Sunday.
No. 42 Juan Pablo Montoya: Montoya had his first and only taste of success at MIS last June. There are much better weekends to have him on your roster.
No. 1 Jamie McMurray: McMurray had a couple of his better finishes of the 2008 season at MIS. This is a good weekend to sneak the No. 1 back car into your lineup.
No. 31 Jeff Burton: Burton finally appeared to figure MIS out this June. Prior to the race he had been very average at the track. There are much better weeks to use him.
No. 39 Ryan Newman: Newman has finished in the top 15 in seven of his last 14 starts at MIS. He should qualify well, but we doubt he will have quite enough speed during the race for another top 15 finish.
No. 33 Clint Bowyer: Bowyer has averaged just a 21st place finish at MIS during the past eight trips to the track. He is a bit of a risky choice this weekend.
No. 12 Brad Keselowski: Keselowski, a Michigan native, is going to be fast this weekend. He is worth taking a chance on.

21 to 30

No. 43 A.J. Allmendinger: A.J. finally cracked the top 20 at MIS this June. He is one of our favorite sleeper picks.
No. 00 David Reutimann: Reutimann brought a fast car to two of the last three MIS races. We expect he will use a similar setup and another top 20 finish could result.
No. 56 Martin Truex Jr.: Truex Jr. finished second at MIS in both 2007 races, but has struggled at the track since. He will be a middle of the packer again this weekend.
No. 19 Elliott Sadler: Sadler has looked great three of the past five MIS races. He should challenge for a top 20 finish on Sunday.
No. 83 Reed Sorenson: Sorenson hasn't had an abundance of success at MIS. He isn't worth taking a chance on.
No. 77 Sam Hornish Jr.: Hornish Jr. had an awesome run at MIS last August. He could be a sleeper this weekend.
No. 98 Paul Menard: Menard has averaged a 24th place finish at MIS during his career. He is a solid fourth or fifth driver in all leagues.
No. 6 David Ragan: Ragan cracked the top 10 in both races at MIS during the 2008 season, but he struggled at the track the past three races. He isn't worth the gamble.
No. 78 Regan Smith: Smith has averaged a top 30 finish at MIS during his career. He is an option for those of you that are desperate for a bargain pick.
No. 82 Scott Speed: Speed has averaged a 33rd place finish at MIS during his career. This isn't the best weekend to use him.

31 to 35

No. 7 Robby Gordon: Gordon has been a top 25 finisher in five of the past nine races at MIS. He is a bit of sleeper pick on Sunday.
No. 47 Marcos Ambrose: The Terrific Tasmanian is struggling at all tracks that don't have right-hand turns. Avoid him.
No. 71 Bobby Labonte: Labonte has just one top 10 finish in his last 12 starts at MIS. He isn't a fantasy choice.
No. 37 David Gilliland: Gilliland finish between 25 and 35. That is a guarantee.
No. 21 Bill Elliott: The Wood Brothers have a storied history at MIS. Look for Awesome Bill to surprise some people this weekend.

Field Fillers

No. 13 Max Papis
No. 38 Travis Kvapil
No. 55 Michael McDowell
No. 26 TBD
No. 34 Kevin Conway
No. 09 Landon Cassill
No. 36 Casey Mears
No. 66 Dave Blaney
No. 87 Joe Nemechek
No. 64 Tony Raines
No. 46 J.J. Yeley
No. 32 Mike Bliss

1. Kurt Busch
2. Carl Edwards
3. Jimmie Johnson
3. Greg Biffle
