Just came from TOT awhile ago and everyone is doing fine. It looks like most of the damage happened where the kitchen met the bar area. Those of you that are familiar know where the cooler was between the two, that is where the fire came through from the back where the gas tank exploded. the tv that was hanging up there disintegrated along with the shelf that held all of the direct tv and satelite boxes. also part of the large furniture that held the bottles of boose was also burnt. the actually bar and dining area appear to be just fine. shouldn't be long before the place is back up and running. there were many friends of the Time Out family there tonight ready to lend a helping hand so it shouldn't take long to get the place back open. i'm sure steven or glenn will chime in at some point to keep you guys updated

What can I say? Not very often that I am at a loss for words. The 1st person I called was my wife to let her know we had lost everything we had worked for over the last 2.5 years or so. Unbelieveable to me the fire dept. arrived in 7 minutes. I owe all of them a world of thanks. I am not exactly sure what happened but it was a problem with the propane. Our dear friends showed up in support very rapidly and this tragedy of ours turned into quite a small party.....damn I am just noticing I still smell like smoke....I want to give a huge thanks to all our friends who showed up to help both physically and financially.
We have been truly blessed here in Costa Rica. ....god dammit I am just coming to trars here for the 1st time today. We are all fine and thankfully no one was hurt. We were very lucky. I thought for sure we we going to have a fatality with Carlos, one of our cookks who have been with us since the beginning. Damn we are truly blessed. We are commited to come back stronger and better than ever. We are even going to get a new ceiling put in....lol....so much for the Black Tarp Inn....but we may reen as the Fire House Saloon thanks to our great friend Chris from DGS. A special thanks goes out to Mickey from CRIS, who was one of the 1st there to offer his support and to Sateliite Jerry who offered to have us back up and running no matter what it takes. You guys are the best.
Thank you everyone for your kind wishes and prayers. As usual we will keep everyone up to date on the RX and let you know our plans. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Thank you to everyone for your words of support. Special thanks go out to everyone who showed up yesterday to support us and to check on how we all were doing - Jimmy Loco, Cas, Lori, Tavo, Mel, Rachel, Mickey, Chris, Kevin, Satellite Jerry, Mike, Beto, Pete & Gabi, Maggie, Yadira & Patrick, John, Chase, Roz, Rob, Tom, Etian, and anyone else who happens to have slipped my mind. I should also point at that all our employees were there to help whether they were working or not. So thank you to Jorge, Carlos, Lorena, Fanny, Balvina, Mirabel, Jonathan, Caroline, Ariel, Ariela, Idalmin, Yessinia, Adrianna, Mike, and Roger for all your help yesterday and for making our business what it is.
After a short period of general cleaning up the gathering evolved into a small impromptu party. There was nothing left to do at that time. The last people left about 9pm.
I expect that we will return better and stronger than before. It is quite clear that we will receive a great deal of help from our regulars in getting back on our feet. For example, Maggie's first words were, "I'm here to help." I have the sense that the connections among the family that has emerged around the Time Out Tavern will only strengthen and deepen as we get back up and running.
We will try to reopen to serve drinks as soon as we possibly can. Sometime this week we hope to begin doing delivery from the house old school Sandwich Guys style. We figure it will be at least six weeks before we are reopen full service. As usual, we will keep you up to date on what is going on.
As we found out yesterday, we never know exactly what the future holds so our evolution may take a completely different shape than what I have just outlined in the last paragraph.
Take care everybody.

Hi All,
I must say that after what happened on Sat I can chaulk a new education up to add to my portfolio.
For those who do believe that the good Lord looks over us can testify that things happen for a reason.
I was digging a foundation for a state of the art satilite system that we are getting ready to install. I was postponing eating lunch as I wanted to get as far as I could knowing that it could take me up to 2 days to prepare so that the crew that works for Jerry would be ready to start construction on Monday building the steel cage foundation that would support this massive unit. The scary thing is that the propane tanks were less then 3 feet from the hole I was digging.
It has taken me a couple of days to still believe what happen, 10 minutes before the tank explosion I was eating lunch, concerned for our customers safety, I tried the best I could to make sure everyone was out and safe, the next thought was how to stop the damage, by then it was to late the fire was ragging through the kitchen and was very hot and was beginning to work toward the bar.
Steve did remain very calm but the look on his face watching everything he and his family worked for burn was enough to make this grown man break down in tears.
The Fire Department is without a doubt highly professional. with in less then 5minutes there where fire fighters that arrived in their personal cars and blocked traffic and assessed the situation. By the time the fire trucks arrived which was no more then 10 minutes from being called the fire fighters took control with in minutes and made sure not to do damage to the wood bar and the flat screens.
I do thank God that no one was hurt. It was mind blowing how people came out of the wood work and helped get things organized as best we could. Then Steve, Glen and Jae offerd drinks and Jersey Jim bought pizza and everyone chatted and talked about making a much better comeback.
Steve, Jae and Glen, you can count on me to help no matter what it takes to open the doors and get back on top!!
Mike
P.S.
