Recommended Cappers: Cappersfile.comhas identified handicappers that have a minimum of “A” or “B” Cappersfile rating, and has personally experienced excellent customer service including expedited communications with these handicappers.

Browse function: allows for you to narrow your selection of handicappers by picking which options you prefer your handicapper to contain. You can narrow results by grade, free picks, guarantees, etc.

Search function: is available to see the grade given by Cappersfile, if a handicapper or handicapping website is already in mind.




Handicapper Grading:
Grades for each Cappersfile are derived from an established criteria set including: 3[SUP]rd[/SUP] party monitoring for record validity, guarantee offerings, domain longevity, active posting of results and archiving picks history.

Grades are given to handicappers on a scale of A, B, C, D and F.
A and B level cappers meet most, if not all, milestones that Cappersfile has identified to be considered a trustworthy handicapper.

C level cappers are not considered to be untrustworthy because they so contain some of the milestones that Cappersfile identifies as a trustworthy handicapper.

D and F level handicappers do not present their information as anticipated by Cappersfile.

Handicappers cannot buy their grade from Cappersfile, they must earn it!

#315 VANDERBILT @ #316 GEORGIA - 4:00 PM
The Bulldogs lost to Vanderbilt last season despite the huge spread this week. It was not a fluke as the Bulldogs were held to just 221 yards. A lot has changed for Vanderbilt and it has been an ugly start to the season. The Commodores are now facing a second straight road game after playing at Kentucky last week and this may not look like a matchup the team can compete in, although Vanderbilt had one of its best performances against the South Carolina team that beat Georgia. Vanderbilt has an excellent track record in the road underdog role but most of those wins came under the previous coaching staff and last Saturday's road dog cover was pretty fortunate in a contest the Commodores totaled 139 yards. This game is in between more prominent encounters for Georgia but the Bulldogs have an incredible running game and a team that has played strong second halves.

#317 WAKE FOREST @ #318 FLORIDA ST - 3:30 PM
The Seminoles won 59-3 last season against Wake Forest but it was the only game of the season in which Florida State was held under 300 yards. A big edge in turnovers left Florida State with short fields most of the way and Wake Forest was held to only 166 yards. The Demon Deacons have struggled recently as a heavy underdog and Dave Clawson’s team has been fortunate to sneak out two wins as the offensive numbers have been very poor. This should be by far the toughest matchup of the season so far for Wake Forest and it is a second straight road game and third road encounter in four weeks for the team. Florida State has not fared well ATS this season at 0-4 and they will continue to face elevated spreads. The Seminoles have struggled with turnovers and a terrible 3rd down defense and at this price the defending champions are worth continuing to fade.

#325 OHIO ST @ #326 MARYLAND - 12:00 PM
The Terrapins are not a very good defensive team but in the plodding Big Ten few teams can match the dynamic potential in the vertical passing game. Maryland has a veteran quarterback and great receivers, featuring big play threats that mask some of the deficiencies on the offensive line and on defense, QB C.J. Brown is a question mark at this point with an injury. Ohio State opens Big Ten play on the road and the Buckeyes are still a viable threat to win the conference although the overall picture for the season changed dramatically early in the season with injury to Braxton Miller and the home loss to Virginia Tech. With a chance to host the Buckeyes this should be perhaps the biggest home date on the schedule this season for Maryland. The Terrapins have not had much success as a home underdog under Randy Edsall but Ohio State looks vulnerable defensively and the offense has padded the stats late in games to look better than perhaps reality. This is also the first true road game for young QB J.T. Barrett.

#327 SMU @ #328 E CAROLINA - 12:00 PM
It has been a nightmare season for Southern Methodist with head coach June Jones resigning and injuries putting the Mustangs down to a fourth quarterback. East Carolina is putting up huge numbers against quality teams and this line will rightly be inflated with the high scoring potential for the Pirates. This is homecoming for East Carolina and the team was off last week to help avoid any potential hangover after the big win over North Carolina. This is also the first AAC game for the Pirates so a focused team should be ready to deliver and add to a great home track record. SMU did not come close last week at home in a local rivalry match as things might get even worse. This line will be elevated and it will likely climb further but the Pirates have shown no reason to doubt their ability to put up a big score. In a game the team should be up for. There does not seem to be much hope for the Mustangs this season.

#345 WISCONSIN @ #346 NORTHWESTERN - 3:30 PM
This venue has not been kind to Wisconsin historically but the Wildcats enter this game off a huge upset over Penn State to open the Big Ten season last Saturday. Wisconsin was flat after a record setting performance, struggling to get by South Florida at home last week but the defense had promising numbers. Last season Wisconsin won 35-6 in Madison but that game came in a difficult spot as Northwestern played right with highly ranked Ohio State the previous week. After a tough start to the season Northwestern has some value moving forward as a team that was expected to compete well in the Big Ten West. The early season losses to California and Northern Illinois may look less damaging as the season goes on. Wisconsin has an amazing running game but against weak competition this team has struggled to pull away in the last three confrontations and this is a huge opportunity for the Wildcats to get the season back on track after last weekend’s big victory.

#359 TEXAS TECH @ #360 KANSAS ST - 7:00 PM
Despite a daunting letdown spot Kansas State won easily last week in nonconference action although the offense had limited production, taking advantage of a short field all day thanks to a dominant defensive effort. Kansas State has proven that it can stop the run but the passing game may be a tougher task. Texas Tech will still be a dangerous underdog even behind back-up quarterback Pat Mahomes who relieved the injured Davis Webb last Thursday. The Red Raiders were productive against Oklahoma State but now sit at 2-2 with the heart of the Big XII schedule ahead. Last season Kansas State won 49-26 in this matchup but the Red Raiders were favored in that game, making this a huge line shift. Kansas State has been impressive but this is a completely different matchup and a much different price than Big XII contests usually feature for these teams.

The Irish moved to 4-0 with wins over prominent programs but the schedule looks a lot weaker at this point in the season than at the outset of the season. Both of these teams have struggled with turnovers this season as Stanford has incredibly lost seven fumbles this year in four games. The Cardinal failed to cover at Washington last Saturday but they were dominant statistically in a tough venue and while this is a second straight road encounter and a game Stanford needs to get back in the national picture. Stanford won by just seven but out-gained Notre Dame by 156 yards in 2013 and the big 2012 win for Notre Dame in this series featured great controversy.

With Taylor Kelly absent for the Sun Devils last Thursday, backup Mike Bercovici posted big numbers but not without turnovers in a 62-27 defeat that featured a bizarre disparity in the number of plays run. Arizona State won 62-41 in this matchup last season at home and Southern Cal enters this confrontation off a big (35-10) victory over Oregon State, covering easily against a similar spread. Turnovers spoiled great production for Arizona State last week and the USC offense can still be unreliable and the suspect run defense for the Trojans could be more vulnerable this week after facing a pass-heavy team during Week #5.

#371 LSU @ #372 AUBURN - 7:00 PM
Auburn has failed to cover in back-to-back games after a 13-game ATS winning streak. This matchup looms as one of the biggest of the season for both teams with Auburn out to avenge its only regular season loss from last season. Louisiana State won by 14 in 2013 at home but this year’s Tigers team has shown some vulnerability. Wisconsin dominated LSU for a half and Mississippi State had its way with the Tigers in Baton Rouge. The rest of the schedule has been especially soft for LSU and this is the first true road game of the season for a very young LSU team that has received shaky quarterback play and inconsistent defensive efforts. LSU not often is an underdog and Les Miles often has some magic up his sleeve but this does not look like one of the better LSU teams of the last decade and Auburn is not getting enough respect despite a truly dominant run.

The Horned Frogs could be a legitimate contender in the Big XII Conference this season but not much can be taken from the 3-0 start. The lone quality win over Minnesota featured a huge turnover edge and almost no long scoring drives and the competition has been very poor in the other two victories for TCU. Oklahoma has proven itself through a 4-0 start that has featured very tough competition and the Sooners have won convincingly in both road tests. This was a very tight game last season with Oklahoma escaping with a 20-17 win at home, although the Sooners had a massive yardage edge in the contest. Texas Christian owns a strong track record as a home underdog and Oklahoma has Texas up next but a bye week before this matchup should help the cause for the Sooners in what should be the toughest road game of the season.

Baylor beat Texas 30-10 last season for the third win in four years in the series as the smaller program in Waco has had the edge over the state’s flagship program. Baylor has had a soft early schedule but the great numbers continue to add up and the Bears had a 508-217 yardage edge in last season’s game despite barely covering at home. Texas has been a poor underdog performer in recent seasons and next week’s game with Oklahoma is likely still a bigger draw for the Longhorns. Last Saturday Texas got a shutout win but it came against lowly Kansas and it was far from a dominant performance as turnovers aided the cause.

The Cowboys have won three in a row after their opening (31-37) loss to Florida State and the offense has done its part even with new quarterback Daxx Garman. Last season in Ames Oklahoma State won 58-27 and Iowa State continues to look quite overmatched in Big XII play, losing badly (28-49) to Baylor in a key home date last weekend. Despite missing a cover on a late score last Thursday night against Texas Tech Oklahoma State owns some of the best historical numbers as a home favorite and the Cyclones have struggled on defense.

This is the season-making game for Mississippi, looking to break through in the SEC West. The schedule has not been overly difficult in the 4-0 start for Ole Miss and the Rebels have overcome some sloppiness with turnovers and special teams mistakes. Alabama won 25-0 last season in Tuscaloosa as Ole Miss had just 205 yards and the Crimson Tide have been dominant this season outside of uncharacteristic turnovers of their own. Alabama has dominant 3rd down numbers on both sides of the ball and while this is the first road game for the Crimson Tide and a somewhat inexperienced offense they have had two weeks to prepare. This is a leap in competition Ole Miss has not proven ready to handle.

The Aggies struggled last Saturday against a very good rushing team in Arkansas, sneaking out an overtime (35-28) victory in a game that Texas A&M probably deserved to lose. The Aggies dominated at South Carolina in Week #1 but that win no longer looks terribly impressive and this will be a daunting road test in a third consecutive week away from home. Mississippi State lost by 10 in this matchup last season with the Bulldogs putting up 556 yards and Mississippi State has much better balance on offense as well as a stronger defense in this matchup. While a letdown after the LSU win would have been likely, Mississippi State has had two weeks to get back up for this matchup in what looks like a difficult scheduling spot for the overvalued Aggies.

After a lackluster start to the season UCLA responded to an early deficit against Arizona State last week with a rout, posting 62 points with a lot of help from turnovers on a short field. A potential 4-0 start went up in smoke for Utah with a blown lead and a one-point homecoming loss against Washington State last Saturday. Utah took the Bruins to the distance last season losing by seven in an even game but going on the road will be a challenge for a team that has mostly struggled in Pac-12 play. The big win at Michigan was turnover aided and no longer looks very impressive while the UCLA schedule has been brutally tough, beating four teams that rate similar or stronger to this Utes squad. Oregon is up next for UCLA however and the statistics have not added up for the Bruins at this price.

Where the action is: Saturday's biggest college football line moves

College football action is picking up with Saturday just around the corner. We talk to Jay Rood, Director of Race and Sports at MGM properties in Las Vegas, about the biggest line moves on the Week 6 board and where those odds could end up come kickoff:

Texas A&M Aggies at Mississippi State Bulldogs – Open: Pick, Move: -2.5

This SEC showdown opened with oddsmakers on the fence, but wiseguys hit Mississippi State hard early in the week and pushed this spread as many as 2.5 points. Rood, however, doesn’t expect a move to the key number of three before the noon ET kickoff.

“The ticket count is fairly even, with a little lean to Texas A&M. But the sharps are all on Mississippi State,” Rood tells Covers. “Hard to say what the public will do now. Depending on where this spread moves, we could have sharps coming in late and laying the favorite.”

SMU Mustangs at East Carolina Pirates – Open: -34.5, Move: -41.5

The cat is out of the bag on East Carolina, which seems to be the mightiest of the mid-major programs. Sharps were all over the Pirates in the opening weeks of the season but now the public has caught on and has moved this spread as much as a touchdown at online books.

“Sharp action laid the big number and the public continues to bet East Carolina,” says Rood. “Everyone is keenly aware of ECU now, they’re not an undercover story now. So we will be needing the Ponies in a big way Saturday, probably need them for two scores. And the way they’ve played recently, they could be hard pressed to do that.”

Wisconsin Badgers at Northwestern Wildcats – Open: +10, Move: +7

Some markets have moved the spread for this Big Ten battle as much as a field goal, while MGM properties opened Wisconsin -9 and are now dealing -8. All the money is on Northwestern, which is a change of pace for the Badgers’ recent games, in which Wisconsin was the overwhelming choice for bettors.

“They’re definitely all over Northwestern,” Rood says of the wiseguys. “This game is dropping as we speak. The home dog is getting all the action, from the sharp perspective. However, it’s all Wisconsin on parlays and teasers.”

Kansas Jayhawks at West Virginia Mountaineers – Open: -24, Move: -28

The firing of Kansas coach Charlie Weis has sparked money against the Jayhawks in Week 6. It’s a tough call whether or not KU will be better or worse without Weis – it can’t get much worse, can it?

“It’s literally all West Virginia money from everywhere – sharps and squares,” says Rood, “Everyone is calling for a lopsided affair. I sometimes look at these situations and expect some extra motivation (from the team that fired its coach). But I just don’t know in this case?”

LSU Tigers at Auburn Tigers – Open: -9, Move: -7.5

This SEC matchup is the big game on the Week 5 schedule, and it looks like Auburn is the popular play even though the line has moved as much as 1.5 points toward LSU, pointing the finger to sharp money. According to Rood, there haven’t been a lot of tickets written on this game yet, but the ones that have come in are substantial.

“We have some decent-sized tickets on this. It’s going to be a pretty high dollar amount game. We’ll write some business on this one,” he says. “Sharps could bring this one down and the public could keep playing it. We could get some decent two-way action on this but if sharps keep chopping it down, we could find ourselves in a spot where we get sided on eight.”

Essential Week 6 college football betting tidbits

There is plenty of Top 25 action in Week 6 of the college football schedule. If you're having trouble keeping track of it all, here are some essential betting tidbits for all of those ranked matchups:

(18) Ohio State Buckeyes at Maryland Terrapins

* The Buckeyes offense is running on full cylinders tallying 380 rushing yards and 330 passing yards in their last game. This marks only the fourth time in school history the team topped 300 yards in both those categories in one game.

* Maryland will try and continue defensive adjustments from last week to slow down Ohio State's rushing attack. "We wanted to play very aggressive and fit our gaps and run to the ball. We are going to continue to do that as a defense and it'll help us in the long run," Terrapins DL Darius Kilgo said.

Southern Methodist Mustangs at (21) East Carolina Pirates

* Tom Mason will be coaching his third game as the interim coach for the Mustangs. This is the second time in his career he has held the distinction, also at Boise State in 1996, and is carrying a lifetime coaching record of 1-12.

* "I personally felt like we needed to cut down our penalties as a team. After the first quarter, I want to be a better team in the second quarter of eliminating penalties," Pirates coach Ruffin McNeill told the media Monday. ECU has given up an average of 75 yards per game due to penalties.

Iowa State Cyclones at (23) Oklahoma State Cowboys

* Cyclones coach Paul Rhoads made quite a commotion at his weekly presser. The sixth-year coach pounded his podium imitating the 'Paddle People' in Stillwater. Iowa State has always been affected by the crowds at Boone Pickens Stadium, going 6-17 SU in its last 23 in Stillwater.

* Oklahoma State ranks 11th nationally with eight tackles for loss per game, is 19th nationally with 3.25 sacks per game and is third nationally with three blocked kicks.

(7) Texas A&M Aggies at (14) Mississippi State Bulldogs

* The Aggies are leading the FBS with 27 completions of 20 yards or longer this season. They will be facing a Bulldogs team that ranks last in the SEC in passing defense.

* Bulldogs head coach Dan Mullen is not kidding himself about this game. "I don't see it being a real low-scoring battle in the trenches," the sixth-year coach said. "If you hold them just below the average, we'll have to score 50."

Wake Forest Demon Deacons at (2) Florida State Seminoles

* Shocking victories are not common in the Demon Deacons' history. Wake Forest has an all-time record of 22-125-1 against top 25 teams with the last victory coming in 2011 versus the Seminoles.

* The Seminoles could be reloading their team this Saturday. FSU is expecting both DE Mario Edwards and RB Mario Pender to be dressed and ready to go against the Demon Deacons.

(6) Baylor Bears at Texas Longhorns

* Baylor may be outscoring teams 227-55, but it's not just their offense that is shining. The Bears defense held Iowa State RBs to 28 yards on 20 carries last week.

* It's pretty clear that the Longhorns and Bears are developing a bitter rivalry. "Just because they started playing better in this era, that's good for them. We're still Texas," Longhorns WR John Harris said this week.

(1) Alabama Crimson Tide at (11) Ole Miss Rebels

* Alabama has been training hard this week with full pad practices, but QB Blake Sims does not look 100 percent. The senior is dealing with a shoulder injury and was not throwing as hard as he could during practices.

* After some mediocre years, Ole Miss is finally getting the right attitude in the locker room. "It's daylight (and) dark from our sophomore year when going down to Baton Rouge and just playing with LSU was a moral victory," quarterback Bo Wallace said. "Now it's ‘We have to win these games, we have to win these big games to take our program to the next level."

(16) Wisconsin Badgers at Northwestern Wildcats

* If there is one word to describe how the Badgers' WR feel this season it is frustrated. Kenzel Doe, Rob Wheelwright and Reggie Love all described their seasons as frustrating this week. The three have combined for two catches and 11 yards.

* Wildcats head coach Pat Fitzgerald is far from satisfied with his team. The coach said Jack Mitchell was "terrible," the punting game was "horrendous" and that LB Anthony Walker made 10 mental errors.

(13) Stanford Cardinals at (8) Notre Dame Fighting Irish

* The Cardinals have not forgotten the special teams game this season. "(Korey Drunkee is) probably the best punter I've ever seen," said return man Ty Montgomery. “He was putting the ball all over the field. Most of his punts were over 50 yards. It was incredible.’’

* The Fighting Irish are 15-0 under Brian Kelly when they don't turn the ball over, a record that RB Tony Alford is well aware of. "A fumble is an unacceptable deal. If you feel like the ball is coming out, fall down...there is no forgivable fumble."

(3) Oklahoma Sooners at (25) TCU Horned Frogs

* The Sooners have been dominating TCU defensively in all 13 games they've faced each other. Oklahoma has not once allowed the Horned Frogs to score more than 20 points once.

* TCU ranks second in the nation in total defense, allowing only 2.2 yards per rush and a 49.0 passing completion percentage.

Vanderbilt Commodores at (12) Georgia Bulldogs

* It doesn't seem anyone is going to mistake Vandy for an offensive powerhouse. Last week QB Wade Freebeck went 8-for-25 for 85 yards with three interceptions while getting sacked four times.

* The Bulldogs offense is set to get WR Malcom Mitchell back in the lineup according to coach Mark Richt. "He would have to have a setback to not play," the coach said. Mitchell tore his ACL celebrating in the season opener against Clemson.

(15) LSU Tigers at (5) Auburn Tigers

* LSU is going to be putting the ball in the hands of a freshman against Auburn. QB Brandon Harris will get the start for the Tigers Les Miles said Monday. The freshman went 11-for-14 against New Mexico State with three TD's.

* Auburn QB Nick Marshall ranks third in the nation in rushing yards among active QB's since the beginning of last season. The senior could have a big day against a LSU defense that is surrendering the sixth-most rushing yards to QB's.

Texas Tech Red Raiders at (22) Kansas State Wildcats

* The Red Raiders may be going into Bill Snyder Family Stadium down their starting QB. David Webb is listed as day-to-day after suffering a shoulder injury against Oklahoma State last week. The sophomore QB has 1356 yards with 14 TD's this season.

* Wildcats head coach Bill Snyder's biggest concern about Texas Tech's offense is the speed. "From a defensive standpoint, the thing is that you do not have time to really sit and process things as well as you would like to."

(24) Arizona State Sun Devils at (20) USC Trojans

* It does not appear that QB Taylor Kelly will be healthy enough to play against USC, so the Sun Devils will need to call on Mike Bercovici again. The junior threw for 488 yards with three TD's and two interceptions against UCLA.

* No defense in the nation has been quite as overpowering than the Trojans. USC ranks sixth in the nation with a turnover differential of +7 and the have not allowed a passing touchdown through four games.

(17) Nebraska Cornhuskers at (10) Michigan State Spartans

* Tommy Armstrong Jr. was abused by the Spartans last year throwing an interception and losing two fumbles, but he understands what happened. ""I was kind of wide-eyed when I played against them my first year. But now I know what to expect, I know what our offense is capable of just by what we’ve been doing the whole year."

* It may seem a bit extreme, but Spartans LT Jack Conklin attributes his offseason weight loss to a Cornhuskers DE. "I learned about the speed facing (Randy Gregory), because he's very fast,'' Conklin said. "That's partially why I went about losing my weight because I looked at the film and I had to do something to help me against these kinds of guys."

Utah Utes at (9) UCLA Bruins

* Utah is one of the best starting teams in college football. The Utes have outscored their opponents 55-10 in the first quarter this season.

* UCLA's Brett Hundley lit up the Utes while scoring a touchdown passing, running and receiving last season as the Bruins beat Utah by seven points for the second straight year.
