What a difference a year makes. Last year I was 26-12 +40 units and this year, I think I've posted seven plays going 4-3. Watching these games has been fun, but I haven't felt any convincing capping trends and laid off which has been good because I think I'd be in the tank. Now on to this Wildcard team filled WS.
Throw the regular season stats out the window as they mean nothing. Baumgarten has pitched 7 2/3 innings and 9 innings in his two road starts in this years playoffs giving up 8 total hits and 0, yes ZERO runs. His road era in the regular season is almost 2 runs less then at hm. Ok, one regular season stat here. He's had 17 K's and 2 BB.
Meanwhile, Shields has not exactly been stellar going a total of 11 innings in 2 hm PO starts giving up 6 runs, 11 hits, 4 BB and 3 HR's. They've won both games because he got great run support scoring 9 runs in one gm and 8 in the other. I can't back him tonight as pitching wins games. How can I go against KC who has won 8 in a row? I could use the common theory that they've had rest and will cool off.
If I had to bet it, I'd bet SF but I can't. I am going to bet the 3* under 6.5 and hope Shields pitches well. I could worry that Baumer hasn't pitched in the environment of KC as their fans have been great!!!!
I'm also playing 2* SF -1/2 +125 and 1* Yes run in the first +140 (I'm hoping SF scores as Shields has given up a run in both of his hm PO starts.
GL guys on your plays.
