There have been some stories recently (here and here, just for example) of big-name sports figures stiffing restaurant servers with lousy tips, so it's refreshing to come across a story with a positive spin.

Just hours before the first pitch of the World Series, the wife of Kansas City Royals pitcher Wade Davis gave her server at Rock & Brews Overland Park the tip of a lifetime — a ticket to Game 1, according to KMBC Kansas City.

Restaurant employee Justin Olmstead told KMBC the server "was pretty blown away, a little bit shocked" at the unbelievable tip, especially with tickets going for upwards of $500 and more each online.

"He came back into the office and said, 'Do you guys mind if I have the night off?' And we looked at him ... and he showed us the ticket he had in his hand," Olmstead said. "And we were blown away ourselves that he was able to have that given to him tonight. So we definitely accommodated him and let him have the night off to go celebrate with all the fans at the game tonight."

Olmstead was asked what he thought of the kind gesture.

"Best tip ever," Olmstead replied.
