as for Reynolds, when he was with ESPN, he was a guest speaker at one of our post season youth baseball banquets. (our location helps with that kind of stuff, and a big wigs kid played on my teams)
He was mesmerizing, absolutely sensational. He gave a perfect message to the kids. He talked about practicing, working hard, being a good person and putting education above sports. Make sure you get your degrees, make sure you go to college, studying before playing............. He also threw in stories about his career and about his interaction with other major league players, all of it with an interesting style and a self deprecating sense of humor
I loved the guy, was saddened by what happened at ESPN, and now I do think he talks a little too much during these broadcasts. I also think he's smart enough to hone his act down. This is a pretty big stage he's on, he'll learn from his experience.
