Were any of you yelling for the 3rd base coach to send Gordon home there?

I still think maybe he should've.

Would've had a better shot than Perez vs. Bumgarner.

If he would have gotten home for an inside the park HR that would have been one of the biggest fielding mistakes in the history of the World Series.

I kept thinking if there's a play at the plate and he's safe, it would've been one of the greatest plays in World Series history.

watching that live on tv, I was shocked how slow Gordon seemed to be getting around the bases, after the bobble on the warning track no way I thought he didn't score, but he was still so far from home, unless a throw was horrible, he was out by steps

I think if Gordon was busting it from step one he could have and should have made it. No excuse for not busting it, and also no excuse for getting tired running the bases, if that's what it was.

they really didn't show a replay of what gordon was doing as he left home plate or rounding first base. so i don't know wtf happened. but when that second giant outfielder bobbled the ball, i thought he had a chance. but he would've been thrown out by a mile.

Crawford made a helluva scoop from a bad throw. If he bobbles it, game is tied. But, I think if Gordon was sent, he's thrown out.

Watching the play unfold live, I thought the timing of it was so that it would allow an average runner to score. Unfortunately, watching Gordon run, he was below average.

hindsight is 20/20...but knowing what happened I wish he was sent so we at least got to see an awesome WS play or an awesome WS finish

of course I was since I bet the Royals in 7 before game 6, but after watching the replay it was obvious he couldn't. Gordon would have been out by 30 feet unless SF bobbled the ball again (hey, maybe Posey could have been called for illegally blocking the plate :), that would have been perfect. Maybe all of sports would have to start reeling the officials in.)

I knew Bumgarner would not even have to get within 1 foot of the strike zone to get Perez out, just don't throw it past the catcher and the game was over

would have been a terrible ending to a great game for aa guy to be still running not even close to sliding towards the catcher who already has the ball stanidng and protected ...if he runs into catcher or worse he is out anyway.. 33 feet easy out...

I would have sent him. The way Bumgarner was pitching, that was their only hope. A Pete Rose style slide (plow through) at home plate would have possibly jarred the ball loose from Posey and made for an exciting way to end a rather entertaining world series even if didn't work out IMO.

He would have been out by 30ft with a decent throw. On the flip side what are the chances the fielder throws the ball 10 ft offline from the short outfield where he would have thrown from?? I've seen lots of bad relay throw homes easily offline by that much. Considering the odds of a hit to knock him in were around 20% since batting average against Bumgarner there is about .200. I'd say the relay man make a real bad throw more then 20% of the time. So odds could have favored sending him even if he is out by a mile with a good throw.

Whats more likely , the next guy getting a hit or an errand throw?

Infielders are extremely accurate throwers. Most will make 20-25 throws per week without being offline by more than a couple feet of their target. At most they might throw offline a couple times in an entire month. So odds likely 95-98% Crawford puts it right in Posey's easy reach
