I thought it would be a bonehead move to bring him in the middle of the game tonight...WRONG, WRONG, WRONG.
Great performance.

However, before anointing him as a superhuman, I go back to the 1957 World Series and Lew Burdette. Know most young guys here never heard of him, but this is what the Milwaukee Braves starter did to the New York 'Funking' Yankees...not the Kansas City Royals

[h=3]MVP Lew Burdette's series statistics[/h]
  • Games - 3
  • Games started - 3
  • ERA - 0.67
  • Wins - 3
  • Losses - 0
  • Complete games - 3
  • Shutouts - 2
  • Innings pitched - 27 (3 complete games)
  • Hits - 21
  • Earned runs - 2 (both in Game 2)
  • Strikeouts - 13
  • Walks - 4
Of course this is before pitch counts and five-man rotations. There have been other three-game starters and winners. Bumgarner deserves all the cheers, especially coming off two days rest to pitch five innings, but there have been several horses before him.

Here here! I talk a lot of shit just for kicks but MadBum is just on another level than all other players in this postseason. Well deserved MVP. Dude is a thoroughbred.
