Washington Redskins cornerback DeAngelo Hall was already out for the 2014 season after suffering a torn Achilles, but his recovery timetable has now been extended after he re-tore the surgically repaired tendon.

According to the team's official Twitter account, head coach Jay Gruden confirmed that Hall suffered the injury at his home:

Gruden said CB DeAngelo Hall -- who recently had season-ending surgery to his Achilles -- re-tore injury at home last night; needs surgery.

— Washington Redskins (@Redskins) October 31, 2014Tarik El-Bashir of CSNWashington.com reports the former Virginia Tech standout slipped in his kitchen en route to a late-night snack:
Gruden said DeAngelo Hall's latest Achilles injury happened in his kitchen. Slipped while getting a late night slice of pizza.

— Tarik El-Bashir (@TarikCSN) October 31, 2014The initial injury was suffered against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 3, per John Keim of ESPN.com. Despite the fact that the ailment was season-ending in nature, Hall was upbeat after it happened.

One (injury) out of 11 years isn't a bad average. I'll take that in any situation. I've had so many coaches, the owner, Bruce (Allen), everybody consoling me like I'm dying. I'm like, 'Look y'all I'm not on suicide watch. I'll be all right. It could have been a whole lot worse.' ... I'm hearing Achilles (injuries) aren't the end of the world. Even if it is, it is what it is. But I feel good about it. I'm optimistic and I'm just ready to get to work.

Now that Hall has suffered the same injury for a second time, however, he is expected to be on the shelf for nine months, according to ESPN medical expert Dr. Mark Adickes:

DeAngelo Hall's return at 30yo is in question after retearing surgically repaired achilles. Return after redo surgery 9 mos instead of 6.

— Dr. Mark Adickes (@jocktodoc) October 31, 2014The 30-year-old veteran has played parts of 11 NFL seasons with the Redskins, Atlanta Falcons and Oakland Raiders. He is a three-time Pro Bowler and tied for 63rd on the all-time interceptions list with 43.

Hall was already facing an uphill battle in terms of returning to form after the first Achilles tear, but this second one undoubtedly stacks the deck against him even more.

With Washington receiving strong play from young corners David Amerson and Bashaud Breeland, there is reason to believe that Hall's future as a Redskin is more than uncertain.

Horsing around behind closed doors is easily explained away by " I slipped while getting pizza in the kitchen". We will never know what he was doing when he got hurt, but i am pretty damned sure it wasn't getting pizza from the kitchen
