I'm quitting tonight. I'm tired of waking up coughing. I'm tired of running half a mile and having to take a breather. It's shitty. I hear the first 2 weeks are the worst. Every time I've quit in the past I just eat a ton of food and it seems to work out okay until I realize I'm getting fat. The problem for that is I'm addicted to a hellacious workout plan. Eating a ton isn't an option. What do people who have quit smoking do in their free time? That is the hardest part for me. Any suggestions would be extremely helpful. Thanks in advance guys. I'm not perfect but I'll beat this son' bitch one way or another. Info would be helpful.

Haa Chop that's the worst advice ever! I had a buddy try that 15 years ago and now he just dips a can a day and says it's much harder to stop than cigs.

I smoke about 8 cigarettes a day. I don't cough or anything, but I know I need to quit. Nasty habit. I have a couple friends that quit using that pill Chantix. I can't really give you any advice since I haven't done it yet. I'm just gonna try and quit cold turkey like I did cocaine.

I used to cut coffee stirrers in half and it would give me something to do when I had a craving. Also, cinnamon helps with cravings. When you get a bad craving, just grab a piece of Big Red. I also switched to Crest Cinnamon toothpaste.

Anytime that you find yourself really wanting one, simply remember that it is only temporary.

Good luck

When I stopped for 3 months, I just did it cold Turkey ... But I went back because I felt it was missing in my life. Stupid me.

Friends have done the Patch, some switched over to the E-Cig, which now might be worst for you...
MikeB's idea might work, had a friend who used Toothpicks ... now anytime you see him, he's get one.

Possible advantage to using smokeless tobacco...... once some of your jawbones have to be removed..... It will then be harder to overeat. That helps with the weight problem.

No question all forms of tobacco should have been outlawed long ago. Simply a way for someone to make huge money while they progressively MURDER millions upon millions of people.

take a cigarette out and instead of smoking it, put it back, then tell the pack that this is the beginning of me taking control over cigarettes. You've done tougher things than quit smoking. You CAN do it. You will be so freaking happy you won't believe it. It's kind of like when you slap some punk around who is supposed to be such a tough guy...."oh he'll wreck you pop." Oh really? Imagine your son or grandson ends up throwing like a chick. Then they say see what happens when you smoke, you're not around to nip iy in the bud. Or like when you're daughter or grand daughter ends up with some bum who doesn't pay. You gotta be there to make him go away...far away.

Very few people are successful on their first attempt to quit smoking. I certainly was not. If you are successful on your first attempt, congratulations to you.

If you are not successful at your first attempt, then think of quitting smoking as a journey. Every time you try to quit smoking, you take another journey and discovery new things about yourself. You discovery what works for you to reduced the cravings and what are the situations you should stay away from like bars or other smokers.

Take the time to discovery the type of smoker you are and prepare yourself for it. For myself, I was a stress smoker. I could handle any type of situation as long as I had a cigarette in my hand. Other people cannot drive a car or drink at a bar without a coffin nail.
It is a journey to find out what works for you.

The best advise I can give you is .. Don't give up!!
You will only fail at quitting smoking if you quit trying to quit.

Good Luck!!

I know two women who were hard core smokers. Both quit using chantix. The only side effects they complained about were 1.) Vivid dreams. 2.) Farting more than usual. The dream complainer said she felt like going to sleep was like going to the movies. For some reasin she didnt like that. The farter just didnt like farting so much. Women will be women.

Both havent smoked in about 6 years now.

I quit back in 2004. It went like this. I came down with the flu that year and the congestion was killing me. So I figured why not take a break till i'm well again. Well it took about a week. Then I looked into if I could go 2 weeks. then I researched how long it takes nicotine to leave the body, (3 weeks). After that I just did a bunch of online research to get by. Anytime I had a craving I put a toothpick in my mouth. The final test was when I was at the casino or if I drank...again toothpicks or candy or some shit. After a month...I kicked it. I did put on some weight but, fuck it, I don't smoke anymore. Feels great.
