With the high taxes in New York state and the horrible weather I wouldn't relocate there for anything less than $125,000 a year. Even then I would have enough reservations to give me pause. I'm retired but I'm basing this on someone who has to make a choice. Obviously the people who live there love the place. After what's going on there this week I wouldn't be surprised to see quite a few people who were on the edge decide to move to a less harsh climate. This is similar to those who live in towns that have been struck by several tornados. Many of them have given up and moved elsewhere.

if you'd ask this before 8 ft of snow in November I'd say that wouldn't take 6 figures... but after seeing these pictures... probably 7 figures lol

I've visited Buffalo once. The people were very friendly and I liked the city. I'd have no problems moving to Buffalo if I had to.

If I had family and friends there money wouldn't matter. I live in Nebraska and winters aren't exactly fun and summers are too hot but love the people I'm around. Don't care if that is Alaska, I like to travel a lot and see the world but still haven't found a place where I said "I'd rather live here."

Anchorage, Alaska record snowfall for one day 26.7 inches. Philadelphia, Pa one day record snowfall 27.6 inches. Shocking isn't. You would think Anchorage would have worse snowfalls than any in the Northeast. Anchorage, AK yearly snowfall record 134.5 inches. I think Buffalo is going to break that easily this year. For sure Anchorage get cold with a record -38. Other than the short daylight hours in Winter it's not as brutal as people think. High paying jobs in AK but with it a high cost of living.
