Just like a guy betting $2 dollars on a 1/9 horse screaming his head off winning at the wire....

seriously?

why would Canadians use offshore then?
the odds on those things are shit. For the average Joe Blow who's drinking at the pub and watching a game, he doesn't notice and would gladly pay 20% or higher VIG on a game as long as he could make it right there and there. Pretty good chance he doesn't know how much of a bad deal he is getting, chances are he doesn't even know what a vig is and chances are he doesn't even care.

Also, very limits betting options. Totals and spreads only with a "toto" type of parlay/lottery bet where you pick 13 games and winners share in the prize pot with 11 correct being the lowest to win anything.

Its a cash cow for the government who relies on uneducated sports bettors. Not saying they aren't smart, just that they don't know any different as far as sports betting goes

exactly. I was going to mention the keno thing which is also offered in Pubs but my reply was getting lengthy.

a bill has been stuck for years in the senate of Canada to allow single sports bets, but for now each province is only allowed to offer a parlay type of bet with fixed spreads and totals put out at the beginning of the week

https://www.proline.ca/

For this reason it is a better option to use pinny or bet365 etc

we have horse racing kiosks in bars now in VA ( traditionally socially conservative state ) and it irks me...

I think the lotto is takes advantage of those in poverty... but it is what it is...
I feel like sports betting becoming legal could be a good thing, but I think it would be disaster to too many people if that widely available. I personally feel like it should only be allowed at casino's.. not online...

ya good point which I noticed I forgot to mention. minimum 2 team parlays. I assume its same across Canada but in BC at least, they are 2 separate slips for the parlays and they cannot be mixed. One is for straight bets and the other is for over/unders. You cannot bet a spread and total on the same game.

same in Ontario. The proline requires 3 or more and the spreads and totals are 2 minimum

The bet though was all on one slip like a parlay ticket in vegas

They've had these in bars in Vegas for many years now unless they've removed them. I remember stopping at a bar on flamingo rd. and rnning in to make a bet that I wouldn't have gotten in on time if I went to a regular book.

Fertitta's were behind the push. It's an outdated idea anyways with all the apps now.

That's why they didn't even try to fight it, everyone's doing the app, even Peppermill has a sports betting app now.
