What I mean is if you like the way someone post on the forums do you believe that is a good indicator that you would like them in real life and vice versa?

Or do you think there would be just as good a chance that you could like someone in real life that you dislike on the forums or dislike on the forums that you would end up liking in real life.

In other words. Is it possible that in real life I might actually like someone like everfresh even though his post aggravate me?

I'm as witty and urbane in real life as on here. I also seem to bring out the worst in bullies, con men, dullards dunces and dumbbells irl as I do on here.

The anger, venom and violent threats I face on here are much worse than in my normal everyday life however

I would guess half and half.

Many people are the same in real life as their posting persona , while others are clearly looking for attention or trying to be an internet tough guy.

I'm guessing that guys like JC and chop dont really say outlandish things in real life just to get attention , that's got to just be a fake persona.

Defying is the most intruiging to me. I'm guessing many of the questions he asks are just to generate traffic .... i mean , no way in hell could anybody go through life being that curious.

in most cases yes, in fewer cases no

I don't think a whining liar who runs to the mods behinds peoples' backs can be a cool guy in real life.

I can't imagine any liar actually being honest in real life.

Conversely, if one thinks a poster is a man of honor and character on an anonymous message board, how can that poster not be such in real life?

I'm way more of an opinionated dick online. Face to face I'll hear you out, online I'm reading things and thinking of 10 ways to prove you wrong.

Strongly correlated for the most part

You always hear people say "Oh I'm sure if we had a beer it would be all good!" I mean I guess if everyone is on their best behavior and your just making small talk but I think that line of thinking is mostly wrong.

great question... Ive never been to a forum bash, so it's all speculation on my behalf....

I think the people you don't like on the forum, you wouldn't like in real life... Whatever traits bother you about that person on the forum will probably shine through in person... If not, just the preconceived notions of that person will probably affect your opinion...

However, if we were all thrown in a giant RX poker game together and none of us were allowed to say our handle.. I think many of us would be surprised who is who...

I would guess that age would be the biggest segregation since that the most diverse demo between us...

jam or jelly?:toast:

really though, in real life I have an extremely low tolerance for people who just talk to talk. Particularly sports, I hate the small chat/cliche things to say... Therefore, I hate talking sports with most dudes at the bar. I only talk sports with a small circle of people. People who BS annoy me more than most. I'm rather quiet too, I'm certainly not going to be the center of attention. Nor do I want to be.

I'm simple. If I don't respect you I won't like you. I like real people not fake. And I like to party and fuck bitches.

Jelly for peanut butter sandwiches , jam for toast or biscuits. lol :toast:

Great answer Defy , i especially agree with the age variance. When i was younger i loved to talk sports and talk shit with anybody , but now in my 50's i hate bs and chit chat .... especially sports oppinions.

I'm sure in general the majority of people are much more likeable in person than behind a keyboard. Its easy to be a dick online.

No, trust me, that's really what he's like. It's exhausting.

I suspect an arrogant, sore loser, who can never admit he's wrong in his posting personna would translate to an arrogant, sore losing, never being able to admit he is wrong person in real life.
Conversely, if someone is pretty cool and chill and willing to listen to others on the boards, that's probably close to how they are in real life.

Interesting question. A guy like Sheriff Joe has several different handles here and has a different persona in each. So how does that translate? Multiple personality I guess.

Probably some of it translates but not all. I rarely, if ever, talk politics outside this forum
