With more than 1/3rd of the season in the books time to consider some puck line trends.

When the Leafs win they generally win big. In their 32 games played this year they have won by more than a goal 14 times. Tonight they face the Flyers and Ray Emery, (3.04 GAA, .899 save#). Philly has won just 4 times in their last 17 averaging just 2.11 GPG during that stretch. Leafs have won 10 of their last 13 with 8 of those wins by more then a goal.
New York Rangers -1.5 +210
Rangers are in great current form winning 8 of 11 and seeing 7 of those by multiple goal margins. Carolina ranks 28th in league scoring and has managed to score more than 2 goals just 4 times in their last 17. Henrik Lundqvist has the career tendency to get sharper as the year progresses and owns a 18-9-1 2.15 GAA, .925 record vs. Carolina.
Vancouver -1.5 +165
Yes they’ve lost 5 in a row but what better opportunity to snap out of that tail spin by a visit of the Calgary Flames. Flames have lost 7 straight, all in regulation, and managed to score just 11 goals during this stretch. Canucks have been the poster child of the puck line this year. They either win large or lose large. In their 31 games played this year only 10 games have had a one goal differential. 11 times they have lost by more than 1 and they’ve been on the right side 10 others.

Caps and Preds are two teams that excel in not getting blown out of games this year. Only Chicago has fewer loses by more than one goal. In Washington’s 31 games only 4 times have they lost by 2 or more. Tonight they face New Jersey playing their 3rd in 4 after a shoot out win against Tampa last night. Devils are old, slow, and banged up. They have lost 17 of their last 23 and only 3 times did they win by more than one during this period.
Nashville has an amazing statistic. With their tremendous defense, (ranked first in the NHL, 1.93 GAA), and a healthy Pekka Rinne they have dropped just 4 games by more than a goal this year. Looking at those four games further you’ll find they gave up a empty net goal in three of them. Only once have they lost by more than a goal without a empty netter involved, (to Pittsburgh in October). Tonight they face Minnesota who has a tendency to not blow anyone away much less a great defense like Nashville.
