Or will:

1. Pelicans face mediocrity for years & be one of those situations where his talents go to waste?

2. Davis leaves town first?

I have no idea how all that works.

I just wish we still had David west.

New Orleans is not a sustainable city. I would get the hell out as soon as I could. Best thing they have down there is Peyton and Eli Manning's birthplace.

Great start last night for Davis:

Davis turned in the young season’s most brilliant individual performance on Wednesday, torching the Denver Nuggets for 50 points, 16 rebounds, seven steals, five assists and four blocked shots in 41 peerless minutes of hell-raising. He joins Wilt Chamberlain, Elgin Baylor and Michael Jordan as just the fourth player in NBA history to score 50 points in a season opener, which is one heck of a VIP list on which to get your name.
While Davis fell one block shy of the 5×5 line that the round-number-loving among us hold dear, nobody in NBA history has ever so summarily stuffed the stat sheet.

Maybe more impressive...MKG with 23 points! Whaaaat? We'll see if that holds up.

Really feel Davis going to have to put up that stat line every night to fight for a 7/8 spot. Fun to watch but having to go that hard every night is why he breaks down. Hope the kid can stay healthy b/c he's something special.

Golden State should have lured Davis instead of Durant. Their weak post was center, not powerforward or shooting guard.

[h=1]Anthony Davis has told Pelicans he won't re-sign, agent says[/h]

Agent Rich Paul of Klutch Sports has informed the New Orleans Pelicans that All-NBA forward Anthony Davis won't sign a contract extension and has requested a trade, Paul told ESPN on Monday morning.
"Anthony wants to be traded to a team that allows him a chance to win consistently and compete for a championship," Paul told ESPN. "Anthony wanted to be honest and clear with his intentions and that's the reason for informing them of this decision now. That's in the best interests of both Anthony's and the organization's future."

</aside>Davis is eligible to sign a five-year, $240 million supermax extension this summer. He can become a free agent in the summer of 2020. New Orleans has expressed no desire to trade him before the Feb. 7 trade deadline.
Davis' declaration on wanting out now gives teams other than the Boston Celticsa head start in pursuing trades for him. Boston cannot trade for Davis until July 1 because league rules wouldn't allow Kyrie Irving's and Davis' contracts under the designated rookie exception on the roster together. The designated rookie provision prohibits teams from acquiring two players who signed six-year max extensions.
Irving becomes a free agent on July 1. Boston could agree to a Davis trade before July 1 that isn't finalized until after that date.
