DENVER -- The Olympic rings flying over Fenway Park? Could happen.
U.S. Olympic leaders surprisingly cast their future with Boston on Thursday, hoping a compact, college-centric bid with a touching story to tell will overshadow the city's well-organized protest group and convince international voters to bring the Summer Games to America after a 28-year gap.

Not only does Boston not need the Olympic Games, it more importantly can't afford them, writes Gordon Edes. Story

During a daylong meeting at the Denver airport, U.S. Olympic Committee board members chose Boston, with its promise of frugality, reusable venues and inspiration after its comeback from the marathon bombings, over Los Angeles, San Francisco and Washington for its 2024 bid.
"Today's selection by the USOC is the beginning of an incredible opportunity for Boston," said the city's bid chairman, John Fish, who will be part of a celebratory news conference Friday with the USOC leadership.

I would not want anything to do with the Olympics unless I just planned on getting some foreign pussy. The World Basketball Championships in 2002 were enough for me. Does everyone in Serbia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Croatia and at the time Yugoslavia end their name with "Vic"? Male, female, tranny, doesn't matter. Its all "vic" all the time. I wonder how Monica Seles escaped that name. It's like how Saddam made everyone's birth city part of their full name. I lectured some dude from Yugoslavia there as to why his country is still part of the Eastern Bloc. It was like talking to a brick wall. I was trying to help him. Not to mention, its like a team as part of the deal, get to take their entire country on the trip.

It's more of a hate everything Peyton Manning and colts kinda town. Which doesn't make sense because for years it felt like the Patriots were the road runner and the colts were Wiley Coyote. meep meep.

Reno/Tahoe's got a bid on the 2026 Winter, what dream come true that would be! Boston's not a bad choice for the summer IMO, but if Boston gets it then Tahoe's probably out so I'm routing against it.

Not sure where you are getting your information from but your statement is way wrong.

Most in the Boston area actually like Peyton. It's Eli that they don't like. People don't mind Indy, it's just Bill Polian that is reprehensible. Irsay isn't much better.

Your Roadrunner reference is backwards.
