Virginia Tech put up more points on this Ohio State team than they did against William & friggin Mary. Buckeyes are not close to an elite defense and they shut down Mariota and Oregon. Hokies had an awful offense and doubled up what Oregon could do. How much does this hurt Mariota's draft stock? We all know no one really plays defense in the Pac 12 and these gimmicky offenses rarely produce quality NFL prospects. Do you think a team will take the risk after seeing this game?
People always say he is going to bust because he seems like a headcase and is insane.
As far as ability goes he has upside. Most 1st rd QBs don't panout, doesn't mean they aren't worth the gamble
He has attributes that are atleast in line with what makes an elite NFL QB. Mariotta really doesn't.

I wouldn't have taken him No. 1 overall before this game. Said in the Rose Bowl thread that Winston is way more pro-ready than Mariota. From a pure QB talent perspective, I think Mariota is probably a second-round pick.
Alex Smith is the perfect comparison. A journeyman backup/borderline starter is probably Mariota's ceiling.

the hate has gone too far on Winston because he acts like a moron. A lot of people act like morons at 20-21 years old and then mature though.
