The NCAA agreed Friday to restore 112 football wins it had stripped from the team and head coach Joe Paterno. Good move on their part in my opinion! The players and assistant coaches won those game on the field; taking them away for something they had nothing to do with was wrongheaded to begin with.

I remember back two years ago when this issue was debated heavily here at RX. Strong feelings both ways............

What about now..........

i have to disagree with the decision. there were whispers about sandusky for years and nobody did anything. Nobody spoke up because they were protecting their football program. you take the wins away because that is where it hurts. what happened on the field with the players and what not really can't even be taken away, those moments and wins are felt and permanent but the legacy is where it can hurt. with the legacy being restored its as if the reason for not speaking up all those years and protecting the program was successful. sandusky is/was a scumbag. thats not a debate. but those who sat there and did nothing because they love penn state football deserve to lose what they were protecting also. just my opinion. but looking back at it now what was the actual penalty? a 1 or 2 year bowl ban?

First, thanks skins and I respect your opinion as I trust you will mine.

We both agree Sandusky was slime...no question about that.

Guess my problem with "hiding" wins from the players, fans and coaches who had nothing to do with this guy over the span of how many years is just way overboard.

May Sandusky burn in hell with any who knew of his actions. Don't understand why innocent people have to get torched.

Thanks Bud......

Your statement about about no one speaking up because they were protecting the football program has zero basis of fact .

Happy to discuss any aspect of the case, but I would point you to the only one I know who has actually taken the time to gather all the facts on the case

You will be shocked . This whole case will go down in history as one of the greatest injustices of our lifetimes.

Citing framingpaterno.com is comical. The guy deserved to get his wins back...also deserves to be fired, have his statue removed and have his legacy destroyed. No matter how hard you try...paterno will always be a nasty old man who ran that university like his own kingdom who was too cowardly to stop a child rapist. End of story. It's too bad Joe Pa's heart and mind were centered on the x's and o's and very little of what went on around him. I know one thing, the NCAA remains to be a joke. There is going to be a trial later this year for the other Three Blind Mice of Penn State. The President, the AD and the VP. The NCAA should have waited until the trial is finished before they clear Paterno. My question is why did they make this decision to take wins away in the first place and then change their mind? And so it goes, and so it goes, and so it goes. The consequences of bad behavior always seems to depend on who and where it is done. Why can't we ever have a single standard in this country...So now he pays no consequences for his actions, and the NCAA looks that much dumber (if that's possible).

Facts are such a nuisance to a fairy tale

There was no rape, there was no cover up, the boy in the shower was 14, they were horsing around , Jerry and the boy remained great friends, the boy , Allan Myers , has written numerous times defending Jerry and stating nothing happened, and, Jerry was retired, and working with the second mile at the time, not working for Penn State

Uh yes there was a rape in the shower. Get a clue and stop getting your info from framingpaterno.com...what's next framingsandusky.com

Joepa was a dispicable man in many ways. His dictatorship at psu and the way he treated admin and faculty was disgraceful. He got what he deserved for the person he was and for covering up for a rapist.

Oh yes every 60 yr old man goes in a shower to horse around. Lol have you seen this guys record? And McQueen just made an honest mistake ? Good lord you are a idiot if you believe that. I guess all the other boys Sandusky raped was just horsing around. Then you make the exuse Sandusky wasn't working for Psu. So what? Even worse he was there working for the boys club and everyone still looked the other way. Why don't you call mcqrry and ask him if he is the stupidest person on earth since he mistook Sandusky horseplay from a rape. Let us know what he says.

with all due respect to everyones opinion on this subject i think the framingpaterno website is a little bit ridiculous. to say that it a bowl ban and a fine is one of the greatest injustices in our lifetime is laughable.
you can say all you want about the framing but sandusky is in jail for being a chomo so in the eyes of the ncaa the molestation happened. so that being considered the truth a child being molested occurring in the showers of the penn state football locker room and the punishment was a 1 year ban from postseason football and a 60 million dollar fine? 2 years ago we were talking about the death penalty for this team. punishment seems pretty light considering the severity of the situation and comes across as just a slap on the wrist.

you can defend whether or not it happened and come out with facts and thats fine. the people i know up in that area weren't surprised in the slightest when it came out and actually said that these things had been whispered around town for years. thats the part that bothers me the most. the people who may have known something and did nothing because it would have been bad for penn state football.

Based on what I've already read in this thread by a certain poster and what I've seen everywhere else, it has the feel of a cult at Penn State where no coach or player can do wrong. It is simply amazing how many people at Penn State are already saying Sandusky didn't do anything, he was framed. Everyone was lying. Never mind the other Sandusky incidents with young kids. Defending this bastard is even worse than trying to make a case for Bill Cosby after 20 women came forward. If it walks like a duck...

OK, using your premise that Joe was on the take.

Suppose you played during those (wins takenaway back years) how would you feel.

I don't give a hoot about Joe's status at Penn State. I do believe and care about the players who sacrificed during that time who EARNED their wins and losses.

Not like they busted into the former players homes and confiscated anything. At this point, beside the factor if being associated during that period, isnt it just 1's and 0's in some ncaa database? Cant take away the past.

What is it at this that you don't understand ?

Victim 2: A boy of about 10 that a graduate assistant, Mike McQueary, has said he saw being attacked by Sandusky in the team showers in February 2001. Investigators have not been able to determine the boy's identity. McQueary reported what he saw to head coach Joe Paterno, and Paterno's handling of it contributed to the university's decision to fire him shortly after Sandusky was arrested in November. Sandusky was found guilty of indecent assault, unlawful contact with minor, corruption of minors, endangering a child's welfare. He was acquitted of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse.
