Remember when Obama had a press conference live on a Saturday afternoon all happy?

According to the officials, the desertion charges would be based on allegations that Bergdahl abandoned his remote outpost in June 2009 to avoid hazardous duty or important service, which are grounds for charges of desertion under the Uniform Military Code of Justice, (UCMJ). According to one senior official, Bergdahl's actions in Afghanistan go well beyond the lesser offense of AWOL, absent without leave, because he allegedly abandoned his post "in the middle of a combat zone, potentially putting the lives of his fellows soldiers at risk."

On June 30, 2009, in Mest Malak, Afghanistan, Bowe Bergdahl left his unit and deserted the U.S. Army. We know he deserted because we were there when he did it.

For those of us who served with him and upheld our oath to defend this nation, we ask for nothing more than the prompt scheduling of a court-martial for Bowe Bergdahl. We are eager to hear him defend his actions.

Evan Buetow and Cody Full served the U.S. Army in Afghanistan as members of the Second Platoon, Blackfoot Company in the First Battalion, 501st Regiment.

As usual...conservatives have it wrong. The US govt did exactly what they are supposed to do. Nobody left behind. Also said if it was found out that he deserted.....he would be charged as such. This is the way it works. Past and present. Well done.

So, you agree with trading known terrorists for a deserter? Do you ever think outside your DNC marching orders?

Yeah, "well done" says the laughably stupid moron who knows nothing of the topic and who admitted he was too big of a coward to serve in the military.

Anyway, since this is "the way it works" perhaps you can point us to another example of this happening in the history of the United States?

Go right ahead dipshit, I can't wait to see this.

Nobody associates "POW" with "walking freely into enemy encampment"

You shouldn't be commenting, you are so dumb it is comical.

Note:

Pentagon General Counsel Stephen Preston, testifying with Hagel, conceded that the Taliban, which ruled Afghanistan during the 1990s before being ousted in the 2001 U.S. invasion, was "not a conventional nation state" like those that held U.S. prisoners of war in past conflicts.

"Well done"!

LMFAO These idiots will make up any lie to justify their dipshit political beliefs.

When someone deserts they want to be left behind, that is why they left duh. He had options. He could have gone to his superiors and said he was resigning from the military and taken the consequences. He could have declared that he would not fight anymore. He would have paid consequences. Remember he sent all his personal belongings to the States before deserting. He made a conscious decision, not a spur of the moment decision. There was a right way and a wrong way. He turned his back on his country and his fellow comrades in arms. The lowest form of scum. Leave no one behind refers to POW's, those taken prisoner not those who deserted. A deserter should be left alone to face the consequences of his own personal decisions. Trading for 5 high ranking terrorists is a joke and damned sure not a justification for "leaving no one behind" especially someone who had already shown his behind to his country and his fellow comrades. POW no, POS yes.
