Finally saw the film.

Not going to get into a back and forth about the politics behind the movie. Just no point really.

What I will say is the movie really isn't so much about the war as it is about PTSD and the tough time people have readjusting. From that perspective, this film hit the nail on the head.

If moviegoers can walk away gaining just a little bit of understanding of how difficult it is to come back to the U.S. after leaving a war zone, I think the movie did it's job.

Would recommend. Good film.

That's what I thought they tried to show how messed up he was so that's why he made up those stories

Was a good movie and I have much respect for Kyle.

Spolier Alert: However the movie was too "Hollywood" for me.

I thought it would be a more realistic story about Kyle's career, especially in theater, and it turned out to be more "Saving Private Ryan" than "Lone Survivor." It was historical fiction, which is very entertaining and is proven by the box office receipts but they did not have to make it a super-hero type formula for success.

I mean, the Mustafa villain was so over the top it was ridiculous. It was like Spider-man and the Hobgoblin while the Butcher was Dr. Octopus. Yeah right, the guy chased Kyle down over 4 deployments in 4 different geographic locations and Kyle's last act in theater was taking him out? WTF Eastwood, you are better than that. That was so unnecessary as Kyle's life and work was amazing without the Hollywood theatrics.

That's right. Movie was not intended to be a comment on war. It was intended to be a character study...but people see what they want and attach their own biases to movies...

I saw it yesterday..kinda had Rambo vibe to it imo...who knows what's fact or fiction but it seemed the guy kinda went rogue into his own personal war over there..jeopardized his whole crew for personal shit. Like others said I think the ptsd stuff was played well...service turns these guys into machines and throws them into combat...uses them up and spits them back out fried on the other end. You hear about it alot nowadays but I imagine there's 100x more that goes on and ptsd is to blame that you dont hear about. In the post 9.11 world it has the potential and probably is an epidemic already.

Bradley Cooper is a great actor and to go to the Oscars 3 years in a row for best actor is amazing.

I thought it was a very good movie in a year of strong movies. As for opinions about it, I tend to side with Clint Eastwood who called it a fair, anti-war war movie.

Guys coming home with PTSD is one of the things our leaders need to consider when they commit our troops overseas.

“The mental health and well-being of our courageous men and women who have served the Nation is the highest priority for VA, and even one suicide is one too many,” said Secretary Eric K. Shinseki. “We have more work to do and we will use this data to continue to strengthen our suicide prevention efforts and ensure all Veterans receive the care they have earned and deserve.”

Disgusting movie that glorifies a sociopathic mass killer. A lot of people agree with me

I did not know the story going in. I thought it was pretty decent movie. I then read he had to pay Jesse Ventura something like $1.6 mil for saying in his book that he once punched Jesse out. Apparently never happened.
