2015 Kentucky Derby Injury/Missing Report
As of March 8, 2015


Off the Trail:

Conquest Typhoon (4 points) – Runner-up in the Grey Stakes at Woodbine will stay on turf after winning the Cecil B. DeMille Stakes (G-2) at Del Mar.

Calculator (17 points) – Injured (again) after his runaway victory in the Sham. Out of action for the next six months. Barn declined to state the nature of the injury.

Eagle (2 points) - Injured a knee during his last work in February and is out of action.

Khozan (0 points) – Todd Pletcher reported the half brother to Royal Delta had issues with a right hind ankle and will need some time off.

Leave the Light On (10 points) – Hurt his right hind ankle during a morning work and had surgery, knocking him out of the spring classics.

Mawthooq (0 points) – Third in the Mucho Macho Man Stakes, McLaughlin was pointing the son of Distorted Humor towards the Withers. Out of action after receiving a recent tendon injury. Might see him later this summer.

The Great War (1 point) - Finished tenth in the Spiral Stakes after bleeding through Lasix.


Injured/Setbacks/MIA:

Flashaway (1 point) – Worked twice at Palm Meadows in December. MIA since then.

Saratoga Heater (1 point) – Hasn’t recorded a breeze since his fourth place finish in the Delta Jackpot.

Texas Red (12 points) - Lost training due to a foot abscess in mid-February. He’ll point for the Santa Anita or Arkansas Derby.


Updates/Back on the Trail:

American Pharoah (10 points) - Withdrawn from the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile due to a bruised foot. Now aiming for the Rebel Stakes at Oaklawn on March 14. Had a very sharp breeze at Santa Anita from the gate, 6F 1:10.40 (1/36) on March 6.

Blofeld (0 points) - Undefeated winner of the Nashua Stakes recorded his first breeze of the year, a bullet 3F :37.27 (1/9) on March 7.

Competitive Edge (0 points) - Endured a hairline fracture in his left foreleg. All healed now and he’s been breezing at Palm Meadows since January 11. His latest breeze was 5F :59/18 (1/8) on March 2.

Hashtag Bourbon (2 points) – Had surgery for an ankle chip. Recovered and has finished off of the board in two allowance attempts at Tampa.

I Spent It (0 points) - Has been working steadily at Oaklawn Park. Last two breezes were bullet moves.

Tough Customer (1 point) – The fourth place finisher in the Keeneland Breeders’ Futurity has posted a four breezes at the Fairgrounds since February 12.

Gremlin, I read an article on drf that stated Texas Red is in the swimming pool & that's not good for any horse rehabbing in a pool in March, less than 2 months away........

This horse is interesting, but the trainer had me scratching my head when he ran him in a 7f race off the bye & shouldn't have.

Any horse coming into their 3 year old debut should be racing at 1 1/16, no matter how long the layoff........
