I mean c'mon. The dude is one of THE FACES of the NFL Network. His arrest happened the morning after the Superbowl while everyone was still a buzz about the game. With Brian Williams leading the headlines about being given a 6 month leave of absense, Sapp was friggin FIRED by the network and put in jail for picking up a hooker.

Yet....nothing after 48hours on ESPN, FOX sports or the radio. It's as if they all went out of the way to turn Sapps firing as a non-story.

Talk about controlling a news cycle ay? Because one of their own was busted for something all of those mutherfuckers do habitually, they decided to conveniently and purposely made this story go away.

What the fuck is that??

Think you are overthinking things.

Nobody cares about ex-player Warren Sapp is why it wasn't a big story.

Beg to differ there PF.

1. Sapp is as polarizing as Barkley is in TNT. You either love or hate this dude's persona.
2. He's star. For goodness sakes Budweiser used in an a major ad campaign this 2H of the season. He was the face of the Bucs during their run of success.
3. After Eisen, - Sapp, Deon, and Irving make that network tick.

I think that fraternity of guys did what they could to make it go away so that none of them would be looked into. Are you kidding me? Everyone in professional sports rounds up hookers. It's part of being a professional athlete.

yeah I dunno. Think you are bigtime overestimating the publics interest in Warren Sapp

If this happened with Barkley it would be a big story (as it was when he got the DUI) Nobody cares about Sapp IMO

I talk about sports with a lot of people and I don't think I've once heard anyone say anything to the effect of "BRO YOU HEAR WHAT WARREN SAP SAID ABOUT _______ ON THE SHOW LAST WEEK"

Could be wrong though. Just think people don't really care is why it isn't a big story. No vast conspiracy.

It's because Sapp has basically always been an azz.

As for his talent, you can't take that away, and all prospects on the defensive line these days are measured by how much they do or don't compare to Warren Sapp...

The NFL Network suspended him immediately and then fired him almost as quick, this wasnt as drawn out as Brian Williams.

You can't compare Sapps star power to Barkley.
Night and day.

My grandma knows who Barkley is.
It takes a somewhat knowledgable sports fan to even know who sapp is and an even more knowledgeable fan to even care.

Yeah Sapp would need to be like Terry Bradshaw or something for what you are saying to be accurate.

He is just another former star on the NFL Network

Sapp doing a beer commercial is proof he is a nobody, not a somebody.

A bankrupt nobody, to be exact.

Supposedly, a large majority of the NFL Network are happy to see him go. Rumor has it that he is a gigantic ass. Talks down to people, doesn't want underlings to make eye contact...

I don't think any tears were shed over his departure.

Going to be interesting to see what he gets put in jail for. Obviously not this, but down the road there is no doubt he'll be in a prison suit.

I know he had the bankruptcy. And now this has happened. Maybe in ten years he'll be doing something hardcore and get busted.

Actually, this makes me curious as to how many ex- Hall of Fame players are/have been in prison.

I know OJ is in the Hall of Fame and prison. But he was set up. He was innocent of all charges, lol.

Sapp's arrest got reported. The fact he was fired the next day should tell you how NFL Network felt about him. Guy couldn't support his children from two mamas, yet he listed 240 pairs of Nike Air Jordans among his main assets while he filed for bankruptcy.
Guy is an ass. Cheap-shotted the Packers' Chad Clifton when he played, then played the high-and-mighty act when someone else did it this year. You'll be hearing about him when they find him in an alley somewhere in a few years.
