Great opportunity for him next season. Especially considering two years ago he was thought of by many as an awful QB, including me. But that's what happens when you have a young "project QB" in an awful system. If he improves on his middle throws this season, there's no telling how good he can be.

DMN: National analyst: TCU’s Trevone Boykin is the nation’s best player; Texas A&M’s Myles Garrett in top 10; see others

Trevone Boykin finished fourth in Heisman voting after his breakout 2014 season behind Alabama WR Amari Cooper, Wisconsin RB Melvin Gordon and the award’s winner, Oregon QB Marcus Mariota.

Fortunately for Boykin, those three will all be highly-coveted picks in this spring’s NFL Draft, leaving Boykin among the top player’s in the nation.

One national analyst is ready to anoint him No. 1.

Sporting News’ Matt Hayes ranked the top 50 players in college football entering the spring, and Boykin is “clear Heisman favorite.” ...

Boykin will have a strong supporting cast.

TCU's offense brings back pretty much every key piece from 2014.

TU is the favorite in the Big 12. They host Baylor, which is the main reason why they are the favorites. They must open at Minnesota, and go to K-State (who will be down this season) and Oklahoma (who knows) the week before the Baylor game. Boykin is a very good player but to say he is the #1 player in College Football is stretching from Los Angeles to New York City. He is not even close. We are talking the Big 12 here, who rarely plays a decent non-con game.

He made that vaunted Ole Miss defense look pretty bad.

Then who is the best player?

I'm not saying Boykin is or isn't the best, an argument can be made for several players. But to dismiss him as the best because of the conference he plays in is just ignorant. It's a Power 5 conference and he's proven his worth.
