Frank Gore to sign with Eagles

Free-agent running back Frank Gore has told people he will sign this week with the Philadelphia Eagles, according to league sources.
Running back Frank Gore has told people he will sign this week with the Eagles, sources saidBarring a breakdown in talks, Gore is expected to sign a three-year deal in which $7.5 million in the first two years is guaranteed.
Gore's decision will end an impressive 10-year run with the San Francisco 49ers.

Gore's final pricetag, which the two sides still have to negotiate, is expected to come in less than half of former Eagles running back LeSean McCoy, who is signing a new deal this week with the Buffalo Bills. But the Eagles are planning on handing their starting job to Gore, and Gore has informed other teams that he has made his decision, sources said.

Free-agent cornerback Byron Maxwell told ESPN's Josina Anderson on Sunday, "I'm going to Philly." The Eagles were considered the front-runner for Maxwell.
However, they had to fend off the Seattle Seahawks, who had been making a last-ditch effort to bring Maxwell back to Seattle, according to sources.
But the Eagles don't have to worry about who their new running back will be. It will be Gore, who will turn 32 in May.

Gore is the type of locker-room leader that Eagles coach Chip Kelly covets. Gore is also coming off four straight 1,000-yard rushing seasons, and has rushed for over 1,000 yards in eight of the past nine seasons. The only season over the past nine in which he failed to reach that threshold was 2010. And Gore is considered an excellent pass protector as well.

Gore, a five-time Pro Bowler, was a big proponent of Jim Harbaugh returning to the Niners, who instead "mutually" parted ways with the coach and promoted defensive line coach Jim Tomsula to the head coach position. Gore said he wanted to see what the 49ers did with the job before deciding his own future.
Maxwell, 27, was a starter all season in 2014, except for three games when he was out with an injury. With quarterbacks trying to avoid throwing at cornerback Richard Sherman, Maxwell was tested often (once every 5.7 snaps) but without much success from opposing quarterbacks, who averaged only an 81.1 passer rating against him.

Maxwell had two interceptions and 12 passed defensed in 2014. He played both the outside corner spot and the nickelback spot at different times last season.

This is Chips team and he is going to get who he wants

D.Jackson ..McCoy ...2 guys who play and act individuals, not as a team , they will never understand the grand scheme of things.

I truly don't know what the Eagles are doing. Losing Shady, a perfect, young, all around back for a high tempo offense, replacing him with the pretty well done Gore who can't do nearly as much even when he was under 30. Losing Maclin, a good WR for that system, paying Mark Freakin Sanchez 8 Million a year for 2 years, signing Byron Maxwell, a mediocre #2 CB, to a 5 year, 63 million dollar contract? Relying on Kiko Alonso to be back to rookie form after an ACL. Chip will either make everyone else look like a fool, and have the last laugh, or be looking for a College job in 2 years.

Chip did a great job getting rid of two 26 year old players.....LMAO.....Chip is stupid.

Frank Gore is broken down.

McCoy or Gore.....Who he their right mind would take Gore at this point and time.

Major down grade.

You got rid of a 26 year old for a 31 year old who seen better days.

Lol, he is far from mediocre and he'd be the #1 if he wasn't lined up across from the #1 in the NFL.

I don't think so. If he was a true #1, he would have had alot more INTs than 2 last year, with as much as teams avoided Sherman. I think he's the highly paid FA this year that has the biggest bust potential.

Deal is on hold....Gore having second thoughts and might wind up with the Colts....

Looks like Gore is seeing how dysfunctional the Eagles suddenly are, and wants to close out his career with a chance to win. Still, a punk move if he goes back on an agreement, but it's better for Philly if he does.

Frank Gore plans to sign with Indy, per source; deal expected to be similar to Philly offer: 3-years, $12M, $7.5M Guaranteed.

so we cut mccoy to save 2 million. makes sense. chips an idiot

Here is what I'm thinking. Chip thinks he can score 28 no matter who he puts out there on offense and wants to spend his money on defense. Let's remember, it's not like they were a super bowl team and dumped players....this team with shady and maclin didn't make the playoffs. But hey I'm a chip kelly guy so I could be wrong.
