Contests are ok but actual wagers on games are not.

I just know they are asking lots of questions about paying taxes...how can you bet xxx amount when you have no job, etc.

Placing an actual wager on a game for someone is called "messenger betting" which is against the law but hard to enforce. It is getting much easier with the tracking going on nowadays and the casinos cooperating with the Feds

I place wagers for a few people, and have since they started with the mobile betting

They are after the BIG fish who bet 5 figures or more per game, and who try to get past IRS taxation when placing wagers. As long as the wagers are under $10k everything is fine and not reportable.

The guys I proxy for wager anywhere between $50-$5000 a game, and no problems at all.

Can read about it here.

YES...PLEASE read the avove articles...this will tell you it is against the law.

Actually they are looking at all. DO smaller bets make it legal??? NO

Are you paying taxes on the income? My best guess is NO since it is against the law.

Can your household income support the types of bets you are making?

I have bet via proxy for more than a few years and it is getting more risky by the day.

Good luck NFL...but i would keep this shit off public forums

Just a couple lines from the LVRJ.

"Walker’s indictment was brought by a federal task force led by the Internal Revenue Service investigating allegations of messenger betting at Nevada sports books. Several betting groups have come under scrutiny.Messenger betting occurs when wagers are placed at sports books by people on behalf of others. It is illegal under Nevada law to get paid to place bets for someone else."

Just curious but do you allow them credit or make them escrow?

Seems like for someone betting 5k a game you would need them to escrow a decent amount. Or is the acct in their name?

Haha there is NOTHING illegal about it. They are going after people who bet for others under their own name!!

Accounts at cantor are put in their own name, they are making the bets under their own name and account.

Where it gets illegal is if I place the bets under my own name or account for someone else.

Huge difference

If you are allowed to bet under your own name I'm not sure why they make you need a proxy then. Seems like a pretty useless hoop if its web based.

Cause it will only let you log in if you are in Nevada. I log in and place their bets.

I have no access to any money, I can't cash out or add money, just only able to put in plays. When they want to cash out all they have to do is contact cantor and they mail them a check. BUT you can only deposit and open the account in person.
