Which one should I pick?
I have not watched a single episode of either.

I hate police shows that's why I never watched the wire but I'm told I will like it anyway even if I don't like police shows.

I do like political shows so House of Cards interest me.

Now I'm just coming off a binge session of watching every episode of Breaking Bad in less then 2 weeks so my expectations are very high.

Can either of these 2 shows compete with BB?

And by all means if someone can come up with something better then the 2 above feel free to suggest.

My only requirement is it has to be a continual show.

What I mean is it has to be a show with one long story where the next episode basically picks up where the one before left off.

These are the only kinds of shows I like.

Like Breaking Bad, 24, Lost, and Prison Break.

Shows that play like a real long movie.

Dont like shows like CSI, House etc where none of the shows have any relation to the episode from before or after.

Shows like that dont internet me.

Started House of Cards about a month ago. Only watched at night during the weeks. I am about caught up. Had to lay off because I did the binge....but didn't go into it thinking that. Show is awesome. I remember a couple weeks ago I watched like 7 straight. Looked at my clock and it was 330....had a meeting at 9.....shite. Anyways, it is great. Twisted and Kevin Space is a badass. You will enjoy.

The Wire is supposed to be great, great actors on it and great reviews. Have not watched.

House of Cards is a great show, great acting by Spacey (as usual). I am not interested in politics anymore, for the most part, I was a lot earlier in life but there is no hope lol, at least not in the short run.

I recommend youw watch Sons of Anarchy, The Strain, The Shield as well.

Never seen House of Cards.

But I loved The Wire. Many critics consider Season 4 of The Wire to be the best TV season ever made. If you start The Wire, remind yourself that it is pretty dated (for example, pay phones are common).

As far as being continual, it is even though Season Two takes a slight turn in the plot but of course it all comes back into play.

Ive watched the entire series of The Wire twice and will probably watch it again within the next year or two.

Yes it is! Police show as well, but really good, same writers than SOA and some actors as well. I was never into shows like GOT (absolutely hate Lord of the Rings, yawn) but GOT grew on me from episode 2 and by episode 6 I was addicted, binge watched the 4 seasons in a week or less. Season 5 I did watch week by week.

The Strain is about a strain of a virus that turns people into vampires, based in NYC. Great actors and great storyline. I was hooked from episode 2. It is also continual, is about a novel by Guillermo del Toro and on season 2 he is supposed to be directly involved in the production.

The Wire is the GOAT. House of Cards is very good, but I think the story and the characters in The Wire are 10 times better

I watch the entire seasons of Sopranos like once a year & the original Miami Vice series, all 5 seasons like every 2 years.........loved the 80's & 90's
