Looking to make a strong stand against the controversial Indiana Religious Freedom and Restoration Act that Governor Mike Pence signed into law last week, the defending champion Connecticut Huskies will not be traveling to Indianapolis for next weekend’s Final Four.
Here’s a statement from the school posted on Twitter:

In support of Governor Milloy’s travel ban to the state of Indiana, Kevin Ollie and other members of UConn men’s basketball staff will not travel to Indianapolis for the NCAA Final Four and the events surrounding it.
UConn is a community that values all of our members and treats each person with the same degree of respect, regardless of their background and beliefs and we will not tolerate any other behavior.

Some may see this as a slap in the face to the four teams participating in the Final Four. And in reality, UConn would most likely be singing a different tune if it were actually defending its title this upcoming weekend.

With that said, the bill has caused a ton of backlash against the state of Indiana around the sports world, the NCAA specifically. It is seen by some as taking basic rights away from the LGBT community.

Not having the defending champs on hand for what promises to be an electric weekend of basketball in Indiana is a big deal. That much cannot be denied.

It would be great if one or more of the Final Four teams pulled out.

The flaming left is all about tolerance, unless of course you disagree with them.

Epitome of hypocrisy.

Good, Kevin Ollie and his no talent are not wanted here. You are a high school assistant at best. UCONN is on a big time decline.

Tolerance and discrimination are two different things but fact vs fiction has never been a concern of yours so carry on.

Who gives a rat's ass about the defending champs and visiting the final four. The second issue is why the fuck would a school like U Conn give a shit about politics in Indiana. One of the lamest acts I have seen in a long time. I guess because the Huskies sucked at basketball this year they feel the need to make a political scene.

Uconn didnt make this decision the Governor did. Malloy has put a travel ban on state funded travel to Indiana. If Ollie and the team want to pay themselves they are more then welcome to go.

If you looked hard enough i'm sure you could find something in Connecticut state law that offends people; I guess as long as it doesn't offend the queer crowd it doesn't count.

As you posters from Connecticut argue about the worst economy, I sit here wondering how you can argue that you have the worst economy.
Look at Illinois economy.

CT doesnt have the worst economy, but its pretty bad. We have a Democratic Governor, House and Senate. Having all 3 be the same party is bad in any state.

Funny... Doesn't connectucut have almost the same law now?

also, I'd say the state has bigger things to worry about, like everyone with half a brain fleeing or trying to leave the state.

This law isn't about discrimination, but I know that doesn't fit into your leftist narrative that your idols parrot down to you.

You are entitled to free speech and we value your opinion but if we don't like your opinion, we'll threaten you, flood your facebook page with threats and call you non-stop until you can't even open your restaurant. Until you agree with us, we'll ruin your life.

Sounds about right huh Zit?
