KEY STAT: Atletico Madrid have kept five clean sheets in their last six league games

EXPERT VERDICT: Real Sociedad have beaten Barcelona, Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid and Seville at home this season but their away form against La Liga's top teams is far less impressive. They may struggle to break down an Atletico defence who have tightened up in recent weeks and a 2-0 win for Diego Simeone's home side could be the best value.

RECOMMENDATION: Atletico to win 2-0

KEY STAT: Both teams have scored in five of the last six meetings

EXPERT VERDICT: Marco Reus has failed to score in each of his last six Borussia Dortmund appearances, but he still looks the man most likely to settle this German Cup quarter-final having notched in five straight matches before this mini-drought. Hoffenheim shipped four on Saturday and are usually wide-open defensively.

RECOMMENDATION: M Reus first goalscorer

KEY STAT: Bristol City have failed to score only once in their last 13 league matches

EXPERT VERDICT: League One leaders Bristol City have been held to three draws in their last four matches and look short enough to beat a dangerous Swindon side. The visitors were thumped by MK Dons last time out but they have a solid away record – ten wins in 19 games – and can frustrate the leaders, who they beat 1-0 at home in November.

RECOMMENDATION: Draw

KEY STAT: Motherwell have scored in eight of their last nine matches

EXPERT VERDICT: Motherwell are in desperate need of points to avoid the Premiership playoff place and this looks a good opportunity for them to do it. Well have suffered one defeat in their last five matches and they should be confident of seeing off St Mirren, who have failed to score in each of their last three away games.

RECOMMENDATION: Motherwell

KEY STAT: Fiorentina have lost one of their last 19 matches

EXPERT VERDICT: Fiorentina are on a fabulous run as they chase glory in the Coppa Italia and Europa League as well as trying to finish in Serie A’s top three. They won 2-1 in Turin and are favourites to progress, but this semi-final tie is not over just yet and runaway league leaders Juventus can show their championship qualities in Florence.

RECOMMENDATION: Juventus

KEY STAT: Barcelona have won 19 of their last 20 matches

EXPERT VERDICT: Almeria are without a win in seven games and are not helping themselves – they’ve had five players sent off in their last five matches. They can ill afford to be short-handed at Camp Nou where Barcelona have won 20 out of 22 fixtures in all competitions this season. Expect a Barcelona win and plenty of goals.

RECOMMENDATION: Over 2.5 goals

# 5 QUICK HIT JESSIE 7/5

# 6 JESSE RAYNE 10/1

# 1 TOWNLINE MOMMA 5/2

All signs point to QUICK HIT JESSIE for the pick. She has been battling soundly and the TrackMaster speed figs are among the most competitive in the field of horses. She has competitive class ratings, averaging 62. Should be considered for a bet in this race. If performance in the most recent race is any indication, this solid standardbred will have a very really good shot today. High last race speed fig. JESSE RAYNE - Cannot put a finger on it, but get behind this filly for a bet. TOWNLINE MOMMA - That 72 speed rating clocked in the most recent outing puts this harness racer in the mix in this one. Hoosier Park has been playing to this fine animal's running style, we're looking for a bang-up effort.

# 4 VEGLIANTINO 9/5

# 5 KEYSTONE WASABI 8/1

# 9 MARKUP HANOVER 12/1

We've got a gut feel VEGLIANTINO is going to get the score. She has been performing well and the TrackMaster Speed Ratings are among the strongest in the field. Had one of the most compelling speed ratings of the group of animals in her last race. A good idea to use in your bets. This solid standardbred will have to be a wager, based on the very good driver-trainer win percentage. KEYSTONE WASABI - Can't overlook based on speed ratings which have been top notch (83 avg) recently. Unquestionably the class of the pack with an average rating of 86. A nice selection. MARKUP HANOVER - Looks like a strong play in this field and his better than average winning percentage says he has the raw talent to dominate in this one. This interesting entrant could get the win here coming from Yonkers Raceway's most profitable position.

RECOMMENDED CHOICES

The Walker Group Picks

# 2 JANUARY BEE 5/2

# 3 AWESOME RULES 3/1

# 8 BLUE CANOE 5/1

JANUARY BEE looks to be a respectable contender. Looks very strong for the conditions of this affair today, showing solid figures in dirt route races lately. With Santiago controlling the reins on him, this gelding will most likely be able to break out early in here. With a very good 83 speed figure last time out, will clearly be a factor in this affair. AWESOME RULES - Has performed strongly lately in route races, posting a nifty 79 avg speed figure. Overall, this conditioner has been money-making at this distance/surface. BLUE CANOE - This racer is prominent in this group in earnings per start at the distance/surface. The odds might be right on this one.

RECOMMENDED CHOICES

The Walker Group Picks

# 6 BAY STATE JUSTICE 9/2

# 5 MALIBU DEPUTY 3/1

# 3 DESIRE TO ACQUIRE 5/2

BAY STATE JUSTICE is the best wager in this race. Ought to compete solidly in the early speed clash which bodes well with this group. MALIBU DEPUTY - Could provide positive profits based on formidable recent speed figures with an average of 88. Ought to be carefully examined based on the decent speed rating recorded in the last affair. DESIRE TO ACQUIRE - Overall the Equibase speed figs of this horse look strong in this race. With a very strong 83 speed rating last time out, will surely be a factor in this race.

#3 SMOKIN PULPIT (ML=5/2)
#2 SHREWD MOVE (ML=8/5)

SMOKIN PULPIT - Vergara and Diodoro partnered with one another are a horseplayer's friend. SHREWD MOVE - This colt registered a nice speed rating of 89 in his last race. That figure should be high enough to win today. This colt is in nice form, having run a good race on March 14th, finishing third. Look at this pattern of improvement. 48/81/89 are the last three speed figs.

Vulnerable Contenders: #7 THREE SIXTEEN (ML=5/1), #4 MISTER MECATE (ML=6/1), #5 SKY T (ML=8/1),

THREE SIXTEEN - Hard to put your money on this early speedster. Too much zip in the affair. MISTER MECATE - The long vacation will probably mean trouble for this pony. SKY T - This gelding finished out of the top three on Aug 17th and wasn't close to victory last time out either.

#1 SENSATIONAL MISS (ML=6/1)

SENSATIONAL MISS - You always have to be on the prowl for bankroll building jock/handler combos; we have one right here. I predict an ideal trip. Stalk the leaders, and surge on the turn.

Vulnerable Contenders: #6 COWGIRL CAL (ML=6/5), #4 D' LADY IS WILD (ML=3/1), #3 CLASSIC MUSIC (ML=7/2),

COWGIRL CAL - Should have at least finished in the money in the last couple months in a short distance event to be worth the chance at small odds in a sprint. This filly registered a speed figure in her last affair which likely isn't good enough in today's race. D' LADY IS WILD - If you keep choosing these kind of 'bridesmaid' types, you're going to be disappointed regularly. CLASSIC MUSIC - No wager value on this horse at the likely odds of 7/2.

Yonkers: Tuesday 4/7 Analysis
By Matt Rose

DRF HARNESS

MEET STATS: 96 - 297 / $484.60 BEST BETS: 12 - 23 / $41.60

Best Bet: A COOL MILLION (10th)

Spot Play: LIMITLESS (9th)

Race 1

(3) RED ROCK raced evenly for a small share in his seasonal debut, clearly a needed start. Allard trainee should be better today. (1) WAYWARD SON had two outside posts versus better in his two starts off the Blumenfeld claim; the move all the way inside makes him a major player. (4) ROCKIN ROBERT doesn't win that often but he did take care of cheaper at Freehold.

Race 2

(5) LUCKY COLBY is arguably in career form now and he's got tactical options from this midpack post. (8) BENTLEY KARAN is also in solid form and would have been my top choice if not for the post. (2) TIME WILL TELL ALL has been a solid money-earner so far in his four-year-old campaign.

Race 3

(7) DETROIT RAPPER has been on a major roll for the Harmon/Marohn Jr. tandem and he did perform well locally at the end of last year. (3) WARRAWEE PREFERRED has the talent but obviously he needs to stay trotting. (1) ABC CROWN ME QUEEN showed up with a much-improved effort last out.

Race 4

(2) IT REALLY MATTERS has shown the ability to make live moves in these added-distance events and as long as he doesn't get lost early he's got a shot in this tough-to-figure race. (5) FIRE IN THE CELL has back class and woke up in a big way last out at Philly. (11) SIX BAX has hit the board in two of three starts since arriving and was bet heavily in each; he can be a decent price today with Dube driving.

Race 5

(11) I'M FABULOUS debuts for very live connections via claim; the classy mare only needs a smooth trip from the second tier and she can power home late. (9) MASSACAIA has been very sharp in his two starts for the Jason Robinson barn. (2) THERAPUTIC tumbles in class for Burke and figures to take the money but he hasn't been all that sharp since returning this season.

Race 6

(4) VEGLIANTINO has been second best in her last three; mare is sharp and she'll likely be favored from this spot to get the job done. (8) BATTLE MAGE made her local debut a winning one and the filly should be forwardly placed again. (1) SHELIKESCANDY kicked home nicely to dead-heat at The Meadowlands at a price and she should be able to save ground and land a share.

Race 7

(2) ELIN was severely looped off the gate last out and lingered weakly on the rim before tiring; mare seems like she's much better than she's been showing and is way overdue. Perhaps the drop in class will help her cause. (7) DREAMSTEELER jogged at this added-distance last week. (1) TAC'S DELIGHT drops off a poor effort and a break; proceed with extreme caution.

Race 8

(1) CELEBRITY BLUECHIP double-drops in claiming price for Burke and this appears like a now-or-never spot. (2) BELIEVABLE was a little bit better last out in his second start back from vacation. (9) MACK'S GOLD BAND has been sharp for Allard but he has to overcome a second-tier start.

Race 9

(6) LIMITLESS has always had a nice closing kick and he's raced well in his two starts for the Allard barn; trotter deserves top billing with Dube at the controls. (1) CANBEC FRIDOLIN gave way after a tough trip in his debut for new connections; veteran now drops in class. (4) STONEBRIDGE IDOL had too far to come in his local return.

Race 10

(4) A COOL MILLION returns locally off two sharp efforts and the Garcia-Herrera trainee should be good to go from this spot. (1) MASSIVE TALENT appears a bit erratic but much like his name states the talent is there. (2) SCHLIM SCHLAMMA should fit well with these.

Race 11

(1) JK ALLNITELONG is another in a long line of California shippers for Jennifer Sabot who qualified in good order and looks ready for action; he was Sears' choice of four. (5) ATOMIC TOM is three-for-four to begin his career and he gets another free shot at this level. (4) SECRET DELIGHT returns locally off a decent 2015 debut.

Race 12

(5) PANSFORMATIVE is a bit of a stretch here but this barn's been good for a while now and the three-year-old has some ability; consider using him at a price. (2) POISON OAK ships from Ohio for Virgil Morgan Jr. while in raging form and he'll take most of the money. (6) KINGS BARNS jogged last out at odds-on but this looks like a tougher spot today.

NHL Grand Salami - April

The Grand Salami in pro hockey is decided by adding up all the goals scored in every game scheduled for that particular day. You can wager on 'over' or 'under' the Grand Salami total. The total is set by adding up all listed 'over/under' odds for each game on that particular day.

Note: The Grand Salami will have no action if any game is suspended or cancelled before the regulation time of three twenty minute periods. Also, regardless of the number of goals scored during the shoot out portion of the overtime, the final scored recorded for the game will give the winning team on more goal than its opponent based on the score at the end of regulation time.

*The majority of sportsbooks do not put out a total on the Grand Salami when there is only one game on the card. For tracking purposes, we will continue to show the 'over/under' for goals and combined goals scored on days with just one game.

NHL Preview: Wild (44-27) at Blackhawks (48-25)

Date: April 07, 2015 8:30 PM EDT

The Chicago Blackhawks' bid for a Central Division crown took a big hit with their latest loss.

They've got a game sandwiched between the rematch, and a home loss to the Minnesota Wild on Tuesday night will about end any such hopes of passing St. Louis and Nashville.

The suddenly slumping Wild (44-27-8), meanwhile, have a chance to clinch a postseason spot by extending their franchise-best road winning streak to 11 games.

To assure themselves a wild-card spot, they'll need a win and a Winnipeg regulation loss in St. Louis. The Wild could also clinch with a win and a Calgary loss of any kind to Arizona or a Los Angeles loss of any kind in Edmonton.

The Blackhawks (48-25-6) had already done that while winning four straight prior to Sunday's 2-1 home loss to the Blues, moving St. Louis into first place with 105 points. Nashville is second with 104 and Chicago has 102. All three teams have three games remaining, and the Blackhawks head to St. Louis on Thursday.

"It seems like when we play these guys, it's always a one-goal game," Chicago coach Joel Quenneville told the team's official website. "We pushed at the end. I thought we had stretches where it was OK, but at the end of the day, it was a big four-point swing."

Kris Versteeg scored for the first time in 17 games, while Marian Hossa extended his points streak to five games with an assist.

Corey Crawford lost for the first time since allowing four goals on 13 shots before being pulled in the first period of a 5-2 loss to Columbus on March 27. In the 2-1-0 stretch that's followed, he posted a 2.01 goals-against average and .942 save percentage. He also has a 1.96 GAA and .947 save percentage over a 3-1-0 span against the Wild.

The Blackhawks have won three of four in the season series while scoring at least four goals in each win, though the injured Patrick Kane had a hand in eight of those 13 goals.

They've also won three in a row in Chicago against the Wild, and Jonathan Toews has nine points in his last five home games in the series. Minnesota points leader Zach Parise has one assist in his last five games against Chicago.

Minnesota hasn't allowed over three goals in 33 games, though over a 0-2-1 span it has only scored four. That includes Monday's 2-0 loss to Winnipeg, which cost the Wild a chance to earn a playoff berth in their home finale.

It was also their first loss by more than a goal in 34 games and allowed the Jets to pull within two points of them for the first wild-card spot. However, a win and Jets loss would give them a four-point advantage while holding the tiebreaker of total regulation and overtime wins. The Flames and Kings are three points back.

"We still control where we finish, so I think we'll all take that," Parise said.

Devan Dubnyk started his 38th straight game, 37 of which have come with Minnesota. Over a 24-7-2 span dating to Jan. 27, no one else has been in goal for the Wild while he's posted a 1.69 GAA. During the 10-game road winning streak, he's got a 1.19 GAA and .963 save percentage. In the second game of back-to-backs, he's 5-0-1 with a 1.67 GAA.

They could need those numbers considering their final three games come at Chicago, Nashville and St. Louis. In Chicago, Dubnyk is 1-3-0 with a 4.48 GAA in five starts.

Chicago could be without defenseman Kimmo Timonen, who left Sunday's game in the first period with an upper-body injury. He's considered day to day.
