Pittsburgh Steelers running back Le’Veon Bell has been suspended three games and fined an additional game chick for violating the NFL’s substance abuse policy.
Bell plans to appeal, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports.
The suspension stems from his arrest late last summer on marijuana possession and DUI charges. With Bell at the time was LeGarrette Blount, then a Steelers player. Now a member of the New England Patriots, he was given a one-game suspension Wednesday.
Bell was the NFL’s second leading rusher in 2014 with 1,361 yards. The Steelers, bracing for a suspension, signed DeAngelo Williams last month.
