Move over, Kris Bryant. There's another big-time prospect coming to Chicago.
According to multiple reports, the White Sox are expected to call-up 22-year-old left-hander Carlos Rodon on Monday. The move was first reported by Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports.
Rodon was the No. 3 overall pick in the 2014 MLB draft following a stellar college career at N.C. State. He pitched well in spring training, putting up a 3.06 ERA with five walks and 21 strikeouts over 17 2/3 innings, but was assigned to Triple-A Charlotte to start the season. In two Triple-A starts, the big lefty went 1-0 with a 3.60 ERA.
The plan is for Rodon to be used in relief by the White Sox, just like they did with Chris Sale when he first arrived in the big leagues. Sale pitched exlusively out of the bullpen in 2010 and 2011 before making the jump to the rotation in 2012.
Rodon probably won't have to wait that long to get his chance to start. There's a strong possibility he makes his first major league start sometime in 2015 and earns a spot in the rotation.
Given the success Sale has had, it's no surprise to see the White Sox follow the same path with their latest electric left-hander.

Slow start for the Wsox was a clear sigh he was going to be up sooner rather then later and likely pushed into the rotation fairly quickly if those struggles continue.

Rodon, 0-3 with an 11.88 ERA in his last four home starts, has never faced the Angels or any of their hitters.

Good Luck tonight Carlos

White Sox: LHP Carlos Rodon, who went 9-6 last season, faces Oakland on Wednesday. The 23-year-old Rodon finished fifth among rookies a year ago with 139 strikeouts.

Keep it going today Carlos

LOOKING FOR MORE

White Sox left-hander Carlos Rodón tries to extend his perfect start when he faces Mike Minor and the Kansas City Royals. Rodón (5-0, 0.58 ERA) is the first White Sox pitcher to win his first five starts since Chris Sale began the 2016 season with nine in a row. Rodón was slated to go on Thursday, but he was pushed back because of back and hamstring tightness. He tossed six innings of five-hit ball during a 3-0 win at Kansas City on May 7. Minor (2-2, 5.75 ERA) is looking for his first win since April 23.
