If you partially want to blame fraternities, which are set up for guys who can't make friends on their own, fine. When you are drunk in a group, you'll do things you wouldn't do by yourself. The schools do not teach idiots to be disrespectful. Just like the military doesn't teach soldiers to gang rape and shoot children like a group of American soldiers did in the My Lai massacre. Look it up. A-holes do things in groups they wouldn't do alone.
Think you're missing the point.
Most colleges are very liberal. Because of that environment, young impressionable students are exposed to anti-government type behavior. The school atmosphere does influence their actions. Of course the college doesn't endorse spitting on vets etc. but it does encourage disrespect towards the flag and our military as you also recently saw in the Valdosta St. flag protest situation.
Professors routinely speak negatively towards our military machine. It's the environment that produces these shitheads.
It's been a long time since I went to college (late 70s) and I had some professors who would throw shot out there to make you think. Philosophy. We would get out of class and shake our heads and move on. University of Florida could be full of empty - headed A-holes who can be influenced by professors. I would rather believe that it's a case of a group of duck heads getting drunk on spring break and acting like douchebags. It is enough to get kicked out. 99.9 percent of college kids want to get drunk and laid on spring break.
