Thread about "American Pharoah a Triple Crown Horse ?"

Point is made that there may never be another triple crown horse........

Can ANYONE be dumb enough not to agree..... if there was a REAL deserving horse...... there would be a Triple Crown Winner!

Like SECRETARIAT! Probably won't be one. But if there was..... we would have a Triple Crown Winner!


My point really is..... this discussion reminds me of the bullshit people spew out about the GOAT in different sports. LIKE......

Tiger won't ever live up to Jack!

Whoever (nobody) will ever be Gretzky!

Mayweather won't ever live up to Ali! (Hate to say so.... but probably biggest joke on this list)


I know no one gives two shits any more about horse racing. Neither do I. But funny how people will just roll over and admit that maybe there will never be another Triple Crown.

But people are so hard pressed to come up with some half assed facsimile and call them "The Greatest” in other sports.

Just find this curious.

Was the timing always like this between the 3 Triple Crown races? Or...... is it just the new puss thing to do...... laying out of races 1 and 2..... or maybe just 2..... and trying to steal the 3rd?

I'll try my best to answer your question with information as a Ex-Horseman and Not as a Gambler.

also not sure what you mean by "Deserving" Horse, because it's not a deserving Sport. It's a Endurance Sport.

Race Horses are Breed to be Champions ( Blood Lines ) and are Trained to be Champions, but ANYTHING could happen. You can go out and spend $2Million on a yearling because of his Blood lines and the horse can go out and Shit the Pot, or go out there and make Millions of dollars ... then depending on if it's a Colt ( has his Balls ) or Filly, will be breed and make Millions of dollars.
Or you can go out there and buy a Yearling for $2500 and do the same.

What makes it harder for a 3 year old to win the Triple Crown is that the races are run over different distances, and on different track surfaces. Just because they run on dirt, doesn't mean every track is the same.

Going back to the Endurance part. this is not like other Sports Players. Sure you also need to have endurance, but if you are a basketball player you play the game the way you know... if you go into Overtime they will be a little spent, lose a little stream... and the same with the other sports

Race horses are mostly trained to go a distance, 1 mile, 1 1/4 miles. The Triple Crown is run at 1 1/4, 1 3/16 and of course the Belmont at 1 1/2 miles. Which I like to call, Where Dreams End.

Also, Thoroughbreds Normally race once every 4-6 weeks, the Triple Crown is 3 races in 7 weeks

So there's a reason why there hasn't been a Triple Crown Winner since 1978 ! Think about it... 1978 was the last time we had one...
and there were some close ones... where a Lot of people thought we would have a Triple Crown winner... in the last 10 years... Smarty Jones, Big Brown... last years California Chrome... Funny Cide and War Emblem before them...
and for those that say Yes 'This is the One" it's because they want to Believe it will happen...They Want it to Happen... and maybe some day it will Happen

I believe the 3 races have always been held 2 weeks, 2 weeks then 3 weeks

There will be a year where it happens..i think we have been too close to think its impossible. Hell real quiet,victory gallop had a nostril separating them. It will take a special horse BUT will also take some luck and maybe a crummy 3 year old crop around him. I don't think this is the year though. AP is too fragile and could literally fall apart at any moment.

It's 3 races in 5 weeks, which basically never happens at the graded stakes level except for the triple crown races. If these horses had a month rest between all of these races, I believe we would have more triple crown winners. Especially with horses like Smarty Jones, who missed by a whisker of winning it.
