Notre Dame limited Golson's transfer options today. He can't transfer to any team that ND plays this year. That includes Texas. The SEC also has a rule against bringing in any player with just one year of eligibility. Apparently South Carolina and Georgia might apply for an exemption, but it's doubtful it would be accepted.
I don't get why Golson is transferring in the first place. He was odds on to be starting for the Irish going into the season. I know he has some NFL aspirations, but if he's afraid of a little competition from Zaire, he's not going to make it in the NFL where the competition will be much greater. Now he's going to have to go somewhere where he'll be competing against other school's QB's that are already familiar with the other team's system. I was actually pretty surprised by this move. It makes me wonder if there was something more going on there between Kelly & Golson that didn't make the papers. But warts and all he still lead ND to it's last undefeated season. Zaire might work out for them. He is the better athlete of the two. But Golson was ND's insurance policy.
