KEY STAT: Barcelona have won 17 of their last 18 matches

EXPERT VERDICT: This tie is essentially over after Barcelona’s 3-0 win last week and the Catalans can make sure of their spot in the final with another victory over Bayern Munich. The front three of Neymar, Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi proved the difference at Camp Nou and injury-hit Bayern could be outclassed again.

RECOMMENDATION: Barcelona

KEY STAT: Real Madrid have scored in their last 52 home games

EXPERT VERDICT: Juventus lead 2-1 from the first leg but the Bernabeu return is going to be a lot tougher. Real Madrid were patient enough in the last round before eventually seeing off city rivals Atletico and Carlo Ancelotti’s holders can get the win with their extra quality possibly shining through in the latter stages.

RECOMMENDATION: Draw-Real Madrid double result

KEY STAT: Napoli are the highest scorers in this season’s Europa League

EXPERT VERDICT: Napoli totally dominated the first leg of this semi-final with 70 per cent possession, 19 shots and 14 corners, but were held to a 1-1 draw as Dnipro grabbed a totally undeserved equaliser from an offside goal. However, the Italians were clearly superior and can still progress through to the final.

KEY STAT: Seville have scored in their last 16 matches

EXPERT VERDICT: One goal should be enough for Europa League holders Seville to secure a passage through to the final again following their 3-0 first-leg victory and the silky Spanish side are built to attack. Fiorentina were unfortunate to lose by such a wide margin last week and a high-scoring game seems likely.

RECOMMENDATION: Both teams to score

KEY STAT: Southend have kept 23 clean sheets this season

EXPERT VERDICT: The first-leg of this League Two playoff semi-final was more like a boxing match than a football game, but Southend can dodge Stevenage’s punches and claim a place in the final. Southend won seven of their last eight League Two matches, keeping seven clean sheets and they should be too strong.

RECOMMENDATION: Southend

KEY STAT: Plymouth have lost five of the last 12 meetings against Wycombe

EXPERT VERDICT: Wycombe looked all but certain to make the League Two playoff final after leading Plymouth 3-0 with four minutes to go of the first leg. However, Plymouth stuck twice late on to keep the tie alive and Argyle, who have scored seven goals in their last three matches, possess the firepower to turn the tie around.

RECOMMENDATION: Plymouth

NHL Preview: Canadiens (50-22) at Lightning (50-24)

Date: May 12, 2015 7:30 PM EDT

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) - Hold the pep talks, motivational ploys and all the statistics that support Tampa Bay feeling good about its chances of closing out Montreal in the second round of the NHL playoffs.

The resilient Canadiens have won two straight to trim a 3-0 deficit to 3-2 in the best-of-7 series. And the suddenly reeling Lightning said it is time to match the opposition's desperation and finish the job.

Game 6 is Tuesday night at Amalie Arena, where Tampa Bay compiled the league's best home record during the regular season. Game 7, if necessary, would be played in Montreal on Thursday.

'We just have to have the belief that if we play the way we know we can that we're going to win,' Lightning captain Steven Stamkos said after practice Monday.

'Just don't play scared,' Stamkos added. 'Don't be afraid to lose.'

The Canadiens have won five of their past six games when facing elimination and reject the notion that there's more pressure on them to even the series than Tampa Bay to end it and avoid having to get back on a plane and play Game 7 on the road.

'For sure, they've got more pressure. We've been there,' Montreal coach Michel Therrien said, noting his team built a 3-0 lead over Ottawa in the first round, then dropped Games 4 and 5 before finishing off the Senators in six games.

'You get a three-game lead, and you've got pressure to close. The more it goes, the more they feel that pressure,' Therrien added. 'The fourth one is the toughest one because you're meeting a team that is really desperate.'

The Canadiens are trying to become the fifth team in NHL history to overcome a 3-0 deficit to win a postseason series.

They won Game 4 in Tampa, then took Game 5 at home to stave off elimination again and bring the Eastern Conference semifinal matchup back to Florida.

'We feel good about playing these type of games,' Therrien said. 'You look at our record the last two years when we've had our backs against the wall. It's almost like it's where we perform the best. (Tuesday) for us won't be any different.'

The Lightning have shown an ability to overcome adversity, too. They trailed Detroit 3-2 in the opening round, won Game 6 on the road and returned home to beat the Red Wings in Game 7.

And there's reason to be confident, too, they can complete the job against the Canadiens, considering Tampa Bay's history of success against Montreal goaltender Carey Price, a finalist for league MVP.

The Lightning went 5-0 against Montreal during the regular season before winning the first three games of this series for an eight-game winning streak over Price.

The Canadiens' goalie has been outstanding in helping his team get back in the series, however Tampa Bay expects to create plenty of scoring opportunities.

'It's not just one guy who's going to be able to carry a team, but he's been kind of an X-factor for them for a number of years, and they have a lot of confidence in him,' Tampa Bay coach Jon Cooper said.

'For us, we've had success against Carey Price. He to us is not a mental block because we've played them so many times in the last couple of years, and we look back and his numbers against the Tampa Bay Lightning are very pedestrian compared to the rest of the teams,' Cooper added. 'Now that doesn't mean he's any less of a goaltender. We've just found a way to have some success.'

The Lightning, though, will be without right wing Ryan Callahan, who underwent an emergency appendectomy Monday after experiencing abdominal pain earlier in the day. He had three assists in Tampa Bay's 12 postseason games but has a team-high plus-7 rating.

A closer look at the only game on the NHL playoff schedule Tuesday night:

Canadiens at Lightning, Tampa Bay leads series 3-2, 7:30 p.m., NBC Sports Network

BACK TO FORM

Tampa Bay doesn't feel it has played very well since a 6-2 road victory in Game 2. They won Game 3 on Tyler Johnson's goal with 1.1 seconds remaining, were blown out 6-2 at home in Game 4 and were not happy with the way they performed before the third period of a 2-1 loss in Game 5 on Saturday. Forward Brenden Morrow said the 'law of averages' are that the team's 'A' game will resurface soon, hopefully Tuesday.

'We still believe our team's best hockey matches up against team's best hockey. You have to find a way to muster it up,' Morrow said. 'Hopefully this little bit of adversity, and somewhat desperation now, is going to bring that out of us.'

HOME-ICE ADVANTAGE

Tampa Bay had the NHL's best home record during the regular season, but has already lost three times at Amalie Arena in the playoffs. The Canadians won Game 4 here and say home-ice advantage can be overrated at this time of year.

'Sometimes you look too much at the benefits of having one or the other,' forward Max Pacioretty said, adding his team has to concentrate on playing well, not potentially having an edge if the Canadiens can take the series back to Montreal for Game 7.

Any mistake, Pacioretty added, could wind up being the difference in keeping the season alive.

'One bad shift and we're out of this series,' Pacioretty said. 'It's great to have the energy, it's great to have some momentum and some confidence, but at the end of the day we make one mistake and our season's over. So we've got to make sure we stay focused and have the right mentality.'

Canadiens move to +220 to win series
Stephen Campbell

Despite recently being in a 3-0 hole in their semifinal series against Tampa Bay, the Montreal Canadiens have rattled off two straight wins and are finally showing some signs of life with their backs against the wall.

As a result, the Habs' series price has been adjusted to +220 at Sports Interaction. Books were dealing the Canadiens in the +800 ballpark when they appeared to be down and out prior to puck drop in Game 4.

As of this writing, Sports Interaction has Montreal at +130 for Game 6 which takes place on Tuesday.

Tampa Bay is under immense pressure here to end series and avoid going north of border for Game 7 after they led series 3-0. Lightning had won eight in row vs Montreal before losing last two games by 6-2/2-1 scores- Lightning hasn't scored in first period since Game 3. Canadiens are 1-11 on power play in series- Tampa Bay didn't have a power play last game- they outhit Habs 44-30 but didn't score until 9:27 of third period. Road team won three of five games in this series Seven of last eleven series games went over total.

All 11 Ranger games this postseason were decided by one goal; they scored 1-0-1 goals in their three series losses, 3-2-4 goals in their wins. Under is 8-2-1 in Ranger playoff games, 8-3-2 in Washington's games. Capitals are 26-28 killing penalties in playoffs; Rangers are 2-14 on power play this series, but a PP goal with 0:01 left in first period broke Game 6 open Sunday. Rangers outshot Caps 87-56 in first period in series; Washington outshot them 28-8 in 2nd/3rd periods Sunday, but never caught up. New York won their last five Game 7's at home.

Home teams are 12-8 in this round of playoffs; under is 10-7-3.

NBA Preview: Clippers (59-27) at Rockets (57-29)

Date: May 12, 2015 9:30 PM EDT

After overcoming an injury to their floor leader and the Houston Rockets' hack-attack, the Los Angeles Clippers can conquer another obstacle with an historic road victory.

As Chris Paul's hamstring continues to improve, the Clippers look to secure their first trip to the Western Conference Finals on Tuesday night against a Rockets team searching for answers at both ends of the floor.

Paul appears to be showing more confidence in his ailing leg after sitting out the first two games in Houston. He had 12 points in 23 minutes in a 25-point Game 3 win before scoring 15 with 12 assists in 26 minutes of Sunday's 128-95 victory.

The Clippers, who have already tied a franchise single-season record with seven playoff wins, have three chances to advance past the second round for the first time in their mostly futile 44-year history.

"It's about us - not about the Clippers franchise and all this - but about us in that locker room," the eight-time All-Star point guard said. "We've just got to go out there and play."

Coach Doc Rivers hinted that Houston's constant fouling in Game 4 - an attempt to slow Los Angeles' potent offense - may have helped Paul rest his ailing leg during free throws. DeAndre Jordan set a playoff record for foul shots in a half with 28 over the first 24 minutes and the Clippers went 37 of 63 from the stripe overall.

"I'm sure they're not fouling to make sure my hamstring feels good," Paul joked. "If so, I appreciate it, I guess. I'm feeling better. I think that's all that matters. We've just got to stay hungry for the game on Tuesday."

It should be interesting to see how the Rockets opt to play Jordan in Game 5 after the center ended up with 26 points and 17 rebounds while going 14 of 34 from the line. The Clippers are 8-0 since last February when he makes seven or more free throws.

Houston's fouling strategy did little to improve its chances as Los Angeles ended up with a playoff-high point total after averaging 116.7 points over the first three games. Blake Griffin has averaged 25.8 points and 12.8 rebounds in the series, while J.J. Redick has scored 19.5 per game and hit 14 of 26 from 3-point range.

"We've got to stay focused on getting stops," said Rockets guard James Harden, who is averaging 24.5 points in the four games. "When we do get an opportunity to attack, (we have to) take advantage of it."

After scoring 112.4 per game over their first seven this postseason, the Rockets averaged 97.0 points while losing the last two at Staples Center by a combined 58. They had previously been blown out by 25 or more just three times all season.

Dwight Howard will likely need to become more of a factor after he had seven points and six rebounds in 18 minutes Sunday. He received two quick fouls and a technical less than four minutes in and fouled out early in the fourth quarter.

The center might be able to bounce back at Toyota Center, where he totaled 46 points and 26 rebounds in Games 1 and 2.

The Rockets have dropped six of nine home games versus Los Angeles after splitting the first two there in this series. They'll need to bounce back with their 25th win in 31 home games to extend their season.

"This is the ultimate adversity right here," Harden said. "We've got to get one at home with Game 5 back at the house. It's really win or go home. Our backs are against the wall and we've got to show up."

Game of the Day: Tuesday's NBA Playoff action

Chicago Bulls at Cleveland Cavaliers (-5.5, 191)
Series is tied at 2-2

Chicago and Cleveland have traded dramatic game-winning shots in the past two games and the Cavaliers have the homecourt advantage when they meet the Bulls in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference semifinal series. Chicago’s Derrick Rose banked in the decisive shot in Game 3 and Cleveland’s LeBron James answered with the game-winner in Game 4 to tie the series at two games apiece.

James sprained his left ankle in Sunday’s game but won’t miss any time while point guard Kyrie Irving continues to be hampered by injuries – first a sore right foot and then being diagnosed on Monday with tendinitis in his left knee. Irving plans to play despite being an inferior shadow of himself while the Bulls will likely be without power forward Pau Gasol (hamstring) for the second consecutive contest. Chicago missed a big opportunity to take a 3-1 lead when it struggled in the fourth quarter and Cleveland rallied for the victory. “We just got to be a lot smarter with the lead,” Bulls forward Taj Gibson told reporters. “Going into the fourth we had a good margin. We just blew it.”

TV: 7 p.m. ET, TNT

LINE HISTORY: Books opened the Cavs as 5-point faves but have since moved that number to -5.5.

INJURY REPORT: Chicago - T. Gibson (questionable), P. Gasol (doubtful). Cleveland - K. Irving (probable), L. James (probable), K. Love (out for playoffs), A. Varejo (out for playoffs).

ABOUT THE BULLS: Chicago led by 11 points late in the third quarter of Game 4 before falling apart on the offensive end and letting the game get away. “Just too many duds for offensive possessions,” forward Mike Dunleavy told reporters. “We’ve had issues with that all year. Especially here in the playoffs, our ball movement has been slowing us down, and we kind of get stagnant.” One guy thriving is Rose, who has scored 30 or more points in back-to-back games and is averaging 25 points in the series.

ABOUT THE CAVALIERS: Irving is 5-for-23 shooting over the last two games, and his 30-point performance in Game 1 seems like it happened ages ago. “I’d rather give 30 percent, 40 percent rather than give none at all,” Irving told reporters. “I just literally can’t do it. I can’t sit on the bench and be hurt and be OK with that. And still, I still know I can be effective.” James expressed surprise that he was able to finish Game 4 – a contest that concluded with him overruling coach David Blatt’s plan to have him in-bound the ball on the play and instead receiving the ball and knocking down the decisive shot.

TRENDS:

*Bulls are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall.
*Under is 5-2 in Bulls last 7 overall.
*Under is 5-2 in Cavaliers last 7 overall.
*Bulls are 5-1 ATS in the last 6 meetings.

Los Angeles Clippers at Houston Rockets (+2.5, 219)
Clippers lead series 3-1

The Los Angeles Clippers look to advance to the Western Conference finals for the first time in franchise history when they visit the Houston Rockets in Game 5 of the semifinal series. Los Angeles has pounded Houston by an average of 29 points over the last two games to take a 3-1 lead while thoroughly demoralizing the Rockets.

Houston has no answer on the defensive end as the Clippers are averaging 119.5 points in the series after posting a 128-95 victory on Sunday. “This is the ultimate adversity right now,” Rockets guard James Harden told reporters. “We’ve got Game 5 back at the house and it’s really win or go home. Our backs are against the wall and we’ve got to show up.” The Clippers are the first team to win back-to-back games in a playoff series by at least 25 points since the Los Angeles Lakers in 2001 and are rolling on all cylinders. “I think we realize as a team what we’re capable of when we play the right way,” power forward Blake Griffin told reporters. “It’s just a matter of coming out and playing the right way.”

TV: 9:30 p.m. ET, TNT

LINE HISTORY: The Rockets opened -1 but have hopped the fence to +2.5 as of this writing.

ABOUT THE CLIPPERS: The hamstring injury to Chris Paul was thought to be a deterrent to Los Angeles winning the series, and it split two games without him before dominating the two he has played. Paul has only had to play an average of 24.5 minutes due to the two routs and now coach Doc Rivers is less than concerned with his point guard’s health and more interested in his team continuing its strong play. “I think right now, honestly, they just have great focus,” Rivers told reporters. “They’re not thinking about a lot of stuff, but doing their jobs and trying to win the game.”

ABOUT THE ROCKETS: Standout guard James Harden scored a quiet 21 points in Game 4 and has failed to be a difference-maker despite a 24.5 average in the four games. The runner-up in MVP balloting has been bottled up for long stretches by the Clippers and is growing more and more frustrated as the scores get out of hand. “We’re not really moving,” Harden told reporters. “We’re not really moving on the offensive end. We’re pretty much stagnant, so it makes it easier for them to kind of load up and play their normal defense.”

TRENDS:

*Clippers are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games overall.
*Over is 10-2 in Rockets last 12 home games.
*Over is 5-0 in Clippers last 5 overall.
*Clippers are 16-4-1 ATS in their last 21 road games.

NBA Western Conference betting road map: Value sucked out of Over in Clips-Rockets
By STEVE MERRIL

In the wake of a memorable weekend in the NBA, Steve Merril outlines what you need to keep an eye on in order to bet playoff matchups in the Western Conference this week.

Spread Watch

Los Angeles has a commanding 3-1 series lead over Houston as the teams switch locations for Game 5 on Tuesday night. The Clippers are a perfect 4-0 ATS in this series, and it looks impossible to back the Rockets going forward. But off back-to-back blowout losses by 25 and 33 points, the oddsmakers were forced to over-adjust the line for Game 5. Houston was 7.5-point home favorites in Games 1 and 2, but now they are 2.5-point home underdogs in Game 5 which creates value on the Rockets.

Total Watch

Houston and Los Angeles played all four of their regular season games Under the total. The opposite has been true in the playoffs as all four games so far have gone Over the total. The oddsmakers have increased the total in every game, starting at 211.5 in Game 1 and increasing it up to 219 for Game 5 on Tuesday night. While the value has been sucked out of the Over, it’s extremely difficult to back the Under between the Clippers and Rockets.

Injury impact

Marreese Speights is not a household name, but he was an important role player off the bench for the Golden State Warriors while averaging 10.4 points per game. Speights injured his calf and he will miss the remainder of the series against the Memphis Grizzlies. Speights' injury may actually be a blessing in disguise since his absence will force head coach Steve Kerr to use a much better defensive lineup to fill the loss of Speights’ minutes.

Playbook

Golden State employed a ‘small-ball’ lineup in the fourth quarter of Game 3 on Saturday night. The Warriors were able to quicken the pace while out-scoring the Grizzlies 25-20 over the final 12 minutes. Since the teams play opposite styles of basketball, controlling the pace has been a major reason why Memphis took a 2-1 series lead into Game 4 on Monday night with the first three games all staying Under the total. It will be interesting to see if Golden State head coach Steve Kerr uses the ‘small-ball’ lineup more in future games.

LeBron James dealing with ankle issue ahead of Game 5
Stephen Campbell

LeBron James will play in Game 5 of Cleveland's conference semifinals series with Chicago Tuesday, but The King himself is even admitting he won't be at 100 percent.

James turned his left ankle after landing on Derrick Rose's foot in the third quarter of Sunday's game but stayed on the floor. He told reporters Monday he'll be receiving plenty of treatment on his ankle prior to tip-off in the next matchup.

Cleveland isn't catching any breaks on the injury front, as the squad is playing without power forward Kevin Love (who was injured in the first-round against Boston). Star point guard Kyrie Irving underwent an MRI on Monday that revealed tendinitis in his left knee on top of a sprained right foot.

Oddsmakers have tabbed the Cavs as 5.5-point home favorites for the clash.

Rockets' Howard fined $15,000
The Sports Xchange

The NBA fined Houston Rockets center Dwight Howard $15,000 for making contact with Los Angeles Clippers forward Matt Barnes above the shoulders during Sunday's game, the league announced Monday.

The incident occurred with 9:21 remaining in the first quarter of the Clippers' 128-95 win over the Rockets at Staples Center.

Howard had just seven points and five rebounds in 14 minutes of play in that game. He fouled out and was also ejected when he was hit with his second technical foul.

The Clippers hold a 3-1 lead in the best-of-seven series.
