KEY STAT: Man Utd have lost just one of their last 11 home games against Arsenal

EXPERT VERDICT: Manchester United have been stumbling in their bid to end the season on a high but they look value to get a positive result against Arsenal. With Champions League qualification sealed, some of the doubts that had crept into United minds will have been eliminated and they can end their Old Trafford campaign in style.

RECOMMENDATION: Man Utd

KEY STAT: Sergio Aguero has scored first in each of his last five games

EXPERT VERDICT: It all seems to have clicked far too late for Man City, but at least Sergio Aguero is closing in the Golden Boot and this looks a good opportunity to kick further clear. The 25-goal Argentine has been on fire of late, netting eight time in his last five games and remarkably obliging for first-goalscorer punters in each of those games.

RECOMMENDATION: S Aguero first goalscorer

KEY STAT: Sassuolo's Serie A matches have produced 96 goals this season

EXPERT VERDICT: Milan's dismal sequence of results ended with a 2-1 home win over Roma and they are favourites to claim another victory at Sassuolo. However, a better bet may be over to bank on goals – over 2.5 goals has copped in eight of Milan's last ten Serie A games and Sassuolo came from 2-0 down to beat Cesena last weekend.

RECOMMENDATION: Both teams to score

KEY STAT: Grimsby have scored in 14 of their last 15 fixtures

EXPERT VERDICT: Grimsby struggled against Bristol Rovers this season, failing to net in either game with the Gas, but the Mariners did put five past Eastleigh to reach Wembley. Rovers scored 18 goals in their final six league matches and netted home and away against Forest Green in the playoff *semi-final.

RECOMMENDATION: Both teams to score

KEY STAT: Rangers kept one clean sheet in their final nine Championship matches of the season

EXPERT VERDICT: Rangers grabbed a crucial 2-1 advantage in their Premiership playoff quarter-final but they may not be able to keep the Doonhamers at bay in the return leg. Ibrox has been far from a fortress in the closing weeks of the season and Queen Of The South are capable of scoring as they did on their two regular-season visits.

RECOMMENDATION: Both teams to score

KEY STAT: Forfar have failed to score in just two of their last 13 away matches

EXPERT VERDICT: Forfar defend a 3-1 lead from the first leg of this Championship playoff final and can expect Alloa to go full throttle at them. The artificial pitch should give the Wasps the advantage and although they lost their home semi-final leg to Brechin, they were unbeaten in their previous four home matches.

RECOMMENDATION: Alloa

Home ice could decide conference finals

CHICAGO (AP) - The Chicago Blackhawks have a sellout streak of 323 games and counting. The New York Rangers play in the world's most famous arena, and the Anaheim Ducks are undefeated at home in the playoffs. The Tampa Bay Lightning set a franchise record with an NHL-best 32 home wins this season.

Welcome to the NHL's final four, where one road win could go a long way.

Fresh off a Game 7 victory over Washington at Madison Square Garden, the Rangers host the Lightning on Saturday in the opener of the Eastern Conference finals. In the West, the Ducks put their perfect home playoff record on the line in Sunday's Game 1 against the Blackhawks, who also are 5-0 at home in the postseason.

''It's been a good run so far at home, but every round gets harder,'' Anaheim coach Bruce Boudreau said Thursday.

The four remaining teams are a combined 19-5 at home this postseason. The home team is 42-27 in this year's NHL playoffs for a winning percentage of .609 that ranks ahead of last year (56-37, .602), though way below the remarkable 59-27 home record for the 2013 playoffs after the season was shortened because of labor strife.

Of course, players credit their fans for success at home, but the NHL also gives home teams the last line change after play is stopped, and last stick on the ice for faceoffs. Savvy coaches use the last line change to get the matchups they want at critical moments, and the advantage for faceoffs can produce extra possessions or help clear the puck from the defensive zone at the end of a frantic shift.

''This time of year, especially against a team's top line, you want to be able to get the right people on the ice at that moment, but when it goes down from there, you can see people playing against anybody,'' Ducks defenseman Cam Fowler said. ''It's not a huge thing that Bruce is preaching, but I think it still is a factor for us in the first couple of games.''

There also is a pronounced advantage for faceoffs. Each of the four remaining teams is better at the dot at home compared to the road, with Tampa Bay posting the biggest split at 53.1 percent at Amalie Arena and 47.8 percent in road playoff games. The next biggest difference is 4.9 points for New York (46.8 percent at home, compared to 41.9 percent on the road), and then Chicago (53.7 and 49.1) and Anaheim (56.7 and 53.9), according to STATS.

Give stars such as Tampa Bay star Steven Stamkos or New York forward Rick Nash more time with the puck, and good things happen for their teams.

Seeking their third Stanley Cup title in the last six seasons, the Blackhawks have won 24 of their last 28 home playoff games. With Joel Quenneville behind the bench and a deep group of forwards taking the ice, they are uniquely positioned to make the most of the rules for home games, but captain Jonathan Toews thinks the crowd is the biggest reason for home success in the NHL.

''When you play well and you create things and things are going your way, the crowd's behind you,'' he said. ''I think it adds to the fact of trying to take away momentum, take away energy from the other team. Everyone wants that, especially in the playoffs.''

But Chicago needs at least one road win to move on, and top-seeded Anaheim is 11-3 at the Moda Center since Feb. 27. The Ducks outscored the Jets and Flames 18-6 at home while beginning the playoffs with eight wins in nine games.

''We also feel confident playing on the road,'' Chicago forward Patrick Sharp said. ''We know Anaheim's going to be a tough place to play, but we've gone there and won before. Hopefully we can do it again.''

New York's 2-1 overtime win against Washington on Wednesday night was the Rangers' fifth victory in seven home playoffs games this year. They also improved to 7-0 at home in Game 7.

The Lightning needed a Game 7 home win against Detroit to escape the first round, and coach Jon Cooper said that is where home ice provides the biggest advantage. Home teams are 94-65 in Game 7s in the Stanley Cup playoffs, including 3-0 this year.

''I do think it matters in Game 7, and that's why you want it,'' Cooper said. ''I think that's the one game that home ice can matter.''

Ducks' Perry should play Sunday

ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) - Corey Perry has missed his second straight practice with the Anaheim Ducks to rest for the Western Conference finals.

Perry stuck to a stationary bike Thursday, but coach Bruce Boudreau expects him to play when the Ducks open the series Sunday against the Chicago Blackhawks.

Perry is the top scorer in the Stanley Cup playoffs with 15 points in nine games for the Ducks, who went 8-1 in the first two rounds.

Perry left Game 5 against the Flames last Sunday after a leg-on-leg hit from Calgary's Matt Stajan in the second period, but returned moments later. Perry eventually scored the series-winning overtime goal, sending Anaheim to its first conference finals since 2007.

The 2011 NHL MVP scored 55 points in 67 regular-season games for Anaheim.

What bettors need to know: Blackhawks at Ducks

Chicago Blackhawks at Anaheim Ducks (-130, 5)

The Chicago Blackhawks continue their quest for a third Stanley Cup championship in six years when they visit the Anaheim Ducks for Game 1 of the Western Conference final on Sunday afternoon. Chicago ended a 48-year title drought when it defeated Philadelphia in six games in 2010 and took out fellow Original Six member Boston four years later - also in six games - for the fifth championship in franchise history.

The Blackhawks have reached the conference final for the third straight postseason and fifth time in seven campaigns, knocking off Nashville in six games in the first round before sweeping Minnesota. Anaheim is making its first conference final appearance since 2007, when it went on to beat Ottawa in five games to capture its first Stanley Cup. The top-seeded Ducks had a bit of an easier time getting here, as they swept Winnipeg in the opening round before needing only five games to get past Calgary in the conference semifinals. It is the fourth trip to the conference final in franchise history for Anaheim, which is facing Chicago in the playoffs for the first time.

TV: 3 p.m. ET, NBC, CBC, TVA

LINE HISTORY: Anaheim opened as -135 favorites before being bet down to -130. The total has not moved of 5.

INJURY REPORT: Blackhawks - D Michal Rosival (Out-Ankle) Ducks - RW Corey Perry (Prob-Knee)

ABOUT THE BLACKHAWKS: Chicago, which has been idle since eliminating the Wild on May 7, is hoping Patrick Kane can continue his torrid pace against Anaheim. The 26-year-old missed the final seven weeks of the regular season with a broken clavicle but has returned with a vengeance, recording at least one point in all but one of his 10 playoff contests. Kane, who enters the series with a seven-game point streak and a five-game goal-scoring run, is tied for second in the league in both points (13) and tallies (seven) this postseason.

ABOUT THE DUCKS: While the Blackhawks have two players (Kane and captain Jonathan Toews, 11 points) in the top seven in playoff scoring, Anaheim boasts three - league leader Corey Perry (15), captain Ryan Getzlaf (12) and Jakob Silfverberg (11). Perry, who is tied with Kane at seven goals, has produced a pair of four-point performances and been held off the scoresheet only twice in nine games. The former Hart Trophy winner suffered a right leg injury in Game 5 of the conference semifinals but claims to be ready to face the Blackhawks after being off since May 10, when he came back to score the series-winning goal in overtime. "I feel great," he said on Saturday - his 30th birthday." I feel fine on the ice, and everything went well the last couple of days, so I've got no issues."

TRENDS:

*Road team is 4-0 in the last 4 meetings.
*Blackhawks are 5-0 in their last 5 overall.
*Under is 20-6 in the last 26 meetings.
*Blackhawks are 8-21-2 in the last 31 meetings in Anaheim.

CONSENSUS: 54.38 percent are backing the Ducks with 63.3 percent on the over.

Over bets cash again in Rockets-Clippers series
Andrew Avery

In what has proved to be one of the hottest betting trends in the second round of the NBA Playoffs, the Houston Rockets and Los Angeles Clippers eclipsed the closing total for the sixth-consecutive game in their Western Conference semifinal series Thursday night.

Books closed the total anywhere from 219.5 to 220.5, but it didn't matter either way as the teams combined for 226 points with Rockets prevailing 119-107.

The Over/Under has tried to keep up with the scoring pace, closing at 212, 214.5, 215.5, 217.5, 219 and 220.5 in games one through six games respectively, but the teams surpassed those numbers by 6, 9.5, 7.5, 5.5, 8 and 5.5 points.

Game 7 is scheduled to be played Sunday sportsbooks have opened the total at 220.

NBA Game 7 - Clippers at Rockets
By Kevin Rogers

Through two rounds of the NBA playoffs, only two series have been pushed to the limit. The Clippers held off the Spurs in Game 7 of the opening round in probably the most exciting game so far in the postseason, as Los Angeles has been pushed to the brink once again in the conference semifinals against Houston for Sunday’s Game 7 at the Toyota Center.

Los Angeles looked to be in cruise control after grabbing a 3-1 series lead with a pair of blowouts at Staples Center. The Rockets rebounded in Game 5 as a short home underdog, 124-103, but the biggest stunner came in the next potential elimination spot in Game 6.

The Clippers led by just two points at the half in Thursday’s Game 6, but opened up an 89-70 cushion with 2:30 minutes remaining in the third quarter. From there, the wheels fell off the wagon for Doc Rivers’ club, as the Rockets outscored the Clippers, 49-18 the rest of the way, including a 40-15 advantage in the fourth quarter. The most stunning part about his comeback for Houston was James Harden sitting out nearly the entire final quarter, as the Rockets turned to their bench to save their season.

Corey Brewer scored 17 points in the final 12 points, while Josh Smith contributed 14 during this rally, including a trio of three-pointers for Houston. The duo of Clippers’ All-Stars, Chris Paul and Blake Griffin did their job by combining for 59 points, but the role players couldn’t duplicate Houston’s production. J.J. Redick (4-of-13), Jamal Crawford (4-of-13) and Matt Barnes (4-of-12) struggled from the floor, while Rockets’ head coach Kevin McHale went away from Hack-A-Jordan, as DeAndre Jordan attempted just six free throws in Game 6.

The Clippers are favored at Houston for the second time in the series, while laying points on the road for only the second time in the postseason. Since the 2012 playoffs, the Clippers have won all three Game 7’s, including at Memphis as 7 ½-point underdogs back in 2012. Los Angeles failed to cover in each of its last two Game 7’s as a favorite against Golden State in the opening round last season and San Antonio in this season’s quarterfinals.

The Rockets own a 5-1 SU and 3-3 ATS mark at the Toyota Center in the playoffs, while Houston has lost three straight Game 7’s since 2005. The last Game 7 for the Rockets also came in the second round, an 89-79 setback to the Lakers at Staples Center in 2009. Harden and Howard are each playing in the second Game 7 of their careers, as Harden helped Oklahoma City beat Memphis in the second round of 2011 playoffs, while Howard led the Magic to a road victory over the Celtics in the 2009 semifinals.

From a totals perspective, the ‘over’ has been automatic between these two teams, as NBA analyst Chris David says not to stray from this streak.

“Even though Game 6 was a little sweaty for ‘over’ bettors, the ticket still cashed and is now 6-0 in this series. Including results from the first round, the Rockets have seen the ‘over’ 9-2 (81%) in the playoffs. If you crunch the numbers again, you just can’t make a case for the ‘under’ in this game. Playing the contrarian angle doesn’t work with a team like Houston, who is the best ‘over’ style team in the NBA. I heard a few pundits mention that Game 7’s are usually tight, which is a load of a crap. If you take a look at the last five Game 7’s in the NBA, you’ll see an average combined score of 223.6 PPG,” David says.

Each of the last three postseasons has seen at least one road team capture a Game 7 victory, including Brooklyn topping Toronto in the opening round at the Air Canada Center in 2014. Only 24 road teams have won a Game 7 in NBA playoff history, while the last away club to grab a Game 7 win in this round was Howard’s Magic in 2009 at Boston.

Who wins Game 7 in Houston? David provides his view on the matchup, “Unlike the first Game 7 we saw in the first round between the Clippers and Spurs, I don’t believe we’ll have a tight contest in this matchup. I don’t like to label either of these teams as heartless but it sort of fits here based on what we’ve seen from this pair. Five of the six games have been decided by double digits and that “quit-factor” was evident in all of these games. I picked Los Angeles to win this series in seven games and I’m not going to waver off that decision. However, I’m not going to press that wager on Sunday because it’s hard to trust at team that hasn’t produced a winning road playoff record with this core.”

NBA Game of the day: Clippers at Rockets

Los Angeles Clippers at Houston Rockets (+2.5, 219.5)
Series tied 3-3

The Houston Rockets have pulled off quite a transformation and look to conclude an amazing comeback whey host the Los Angeles Clippers in Game 7 of the Western Conference semifinals. Houston recovered from a 19-point, third-quarter deficit in Game 6 to stay alive and is aiming to become only the ninth team to rally from a 3-1 hole to win a playoff series.

The Rockets were left for dead before dominating the final 14 minutes of Game 6 to post an improbable 119-107 victory and the comeback that tied the series happened with star guard James Harden sitting on the bench. “We just have a never-give-up attitude,” forward Josh Smith told reporters. “All year long we fought through a lot of adversity and it’s just a testament of what we did throughout the season.” The Clippers have never made it to the Western Conference finals and they will be under the microscope after the Game 6 collapse. “We’ve got to come out and play, I mean, there’s nothing more to it,” power forward Blake Griffin told reporters. “Game 7 is Game 7 – it’s about who wants it more and I expect us to be ready.”

LINE HISTORY: Most books opened the line at HOU +1.5, but by Saturday night is had jumped to +2.5. The total opened at 220 at most online books and now sits at 219.5.

INJURY REPORT: Clippers - N/A Rockets - G K.J. McDaniels (Out-Wrist)

WHAT CAPPERS SAY: "Overall, the Clippers have dominated this series, but they completely collapsed in Game 6 and blew a 19-point lead in the third quarter and also finished just 1-for-16 FG from the field. It was only the third time in NBA history that a home team blew a double-digit lead entering the fourth quarter in a series clinching situation. The question now becomes will Los Angeles bounce back and reassert their dominance, or will they have a hangover entering Game 7 on the road. The Rockets were also a much more efficient team with James Harden on the bench during the 4th Quarter of Game 6. He was apparently battling an illness. It will be interesting to see if Houston now limits the minutes of their leading scorer in Game 7. Harden is a great offensive player, but a defensive liability." - Steve Merril

ABOUT THE CLIPPERS: Rebounding emotionally might be the hardest task for Los Angeles after failing to close out the series in back-to-back games. The Clippers were in full control of Game 6 for the first 34 minutes and unraveled in the type of manner rarely seen when a squad is about to wrap up a series as its defense went missing. “To me, that’s where we lost the game,” Los Angeles coach Doc Rivers told reporters. “They scored 40 points in the fourth quarter on things that shouldn’t happen. So to me, that’s where we have to get better.”

ABOUT THE ROCKETS: Smith has been a disappointment in the series with five straight single-digit outings but came alive in the fourth quarter of Game 6 when he scored 14 of his 19 points. Another surprise star was swingman Corey Brewer, who had 15 of his 19 points in the final quarter and grabbed 10 rebounds as the contributions of Smith, Brewer and veteran Jason Terry made it easy for coach Kevin McHale to keep Harden (23 points but just 5-of-20 shooting) on the sidelines. Center Dwight Howard had a huge outing with 20 points and 21 rebounds as Houston was much more physical than the Clippers while rolling up a 60-41 rebounding edge.

TRENDS:

*Clippers are 10-4 ATS in the last 14 meetings.
*Rockets are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games following a SU win of more than 10 points.
*Over is 6-0 in the last 6 meetings.
*Over is 7-0 in Clippers last 7 overall.

CONSENSUS: 53.98 percent are backing the Rockets with 54.11 percent on the over.

Cavs' Irving uncertain for Game 1 against Hawks
By THE SPORTS XCHANGE

Guard Kyrie Irving of the Cleveland Cavaliers sat out Saturday's practice session to rest and his status remains uncertain for Game 1 of the Eastern Conference finals against the Atlanta Hawks

Cavs coach David Blatt said Irving received treatment on his sore left knee and his right foot strain.

Irving on Friday visited with team doctors for re-evaluation on his left knee, which he aggravated in the second quarter of Cleveland's 94-73 closeout victory over the Chicago Bulls on Thursday night. The Cavaliers won the best-of-seven series in six games.

"He's going through a lot of treatment, and we're monitoring and just hoping that he progresses from here until game time," Blatt said Saturday of his All-Star point guard.

Blatt said Irving's status is uncertain for Wednesday's start of the conference finals.

"For sure, no," Blatt said. "But we hope so."

Blatt said there is a possibility that Irving could concentrate on rehabilitation and not practice until Wednesday.

"He's going through a lot of treatment," Blatt said. "We're monitoring and just hoping that he progresses."

Cavaliers star forward LeBron James said the team can take advantage of the days off between the second round and the conference finals.

"It goes without saying that we're banged up right now," James said Saturday. "One of our best players (Kevin Love) is out for the season. Our All-Star point guard has been banged up since Game 2 of the Boston series. You see a guy like Tristan (Thompson), a guy who hasn't missed a game in 19 years, probably since he's been born, falls on his shoulder like that, you kind of get a little scared about it.

"Then myself, I have my nicks and bruises throughout the season and also in the postseason. Then you have Shump (Iman Shumpert), who has a partially banged-up groin that he's playing with."

Thompson was able to practice with his bruised left shoulder Saturday. So was Shumpert.

After using Friday to take a break from the stress of the playoffs, James said preparation for the Hawks will begin Sunday.

"I'll lock in tomorrow and be ready for the next series," James said. "Yesterday I took the day off. I did absolutely nothing but play with my kids, did whatever they wanted to do yesterday, including basketball, which I did not want to do, but they made me go out there on the court. Today I was able to get some work in, but I'm not where I would like to be."

Rockets-Clippers line on the move
Stephen Campbell

A sportsbook initially opened the Houston Rockets as 2.5-point underdogs for Game 7 of Sunday's Western Conference semifinal versus the Los Angeles Clippers, but there's been plenty of back and forth movement since.

Less than 10 minutes after opening, the shop immediately dropped that number to +1. It's since gone up to +2, back to +1.5 before reaching +2.5 again as of 12:30 p.m. ET Saturday.
