Is this a scam attempt? I am selling a mattress on CL ... look at this reply

I would have check delivered to you next day through UPS

In regards to the pickup, I will make arrangement for this after you received the payment and the check has cleared

If this is fine with you please provide your name and physical address for payment to be sent

I am willing to add extra fifty dollars for you to take the posting off today and consider it sold to me,

If you have any additional pictures please send them if not its fine

So that's the message. I am trying to figure out how I could get scammed. I seem to recall a scam with cashier's check fraud or some crap. She is telling me bank check. What's the catch here gentlemen ?

They will send another one telling you to send them cash back for gas off the check they send.

You deposit the check, it will appear to clear. You withdrawal the funds, 4 days later it bounces

Ok, I see it is a fraud after some research. But what's to stop me from following thru and then grabbing whoever comes to pick up the mattress? I follow thru... take the check to my bank. confirm it's fraud.. then arrange for the schmuck to come pick up the mattress and grab him by the collar

No one will come to pick up the mattress. They will want you to send them cash before the send the pick up. Lol

I had a legit check sent to me. At least I thought it was. I called the bank and it was drawn on a closed account.

I reported it to the local authorities.

I can't believe people fall for this. And I can't believe these spammers/con artists don't get caught easier. All a cop has to do is post an ad for a diamond ring or car and....boom, these emails will arrive.

you can always check the validity og the check first, and you can ask your bank how long you should wait to play it safe

it does sound weird, but they're giving you some space to maneuver

you can also say i'll hold it until you get back, then pay me cash

Craigslist is for local buyers and sellers. If they aren't there and unable to pay cash, it's a scam

they will also send you an "overage" amount. If you are selling it for $80 they will send you a check (which is fake) for $180 and claim it was a mistake. Just send them back the $100

This info given out can probably cause whatever you don't want! Just your phone # provides more about you then you'd expect! This is a free search with people/address/phone provided to you by your whitepages........ Random # ???

Yea his copy paste job of the letter would work better with high dollar items or jewelry type things...scouring the globe for a mattress is ridiculous.
