were the Atlanta Hawks the most gutless one seed ever?

I had them overrated from the get go, actually thinking they could lose to the Nets. I wanted the C's to get them in the first round. But for some reason I was silly enough to think they would show up with some pride and actually win at least one game vs the Cavs. Damn, they just rolled over and died. They wanted their belly scratched as they walked out the door with their ears down as they sulked

what a pathetic effort, they'll be nowhere near a one seed next year, not with their lack of heart

their dream season just ended, and they looked more like a team that needs an overhaul than a conference championship contender

I'm watching that game feeling like an asshole for betting them :ohno:, and I hate when that happens #%()

at least try, youse bitches

what are you an idiot? They made the eastern conference finals and lost to Lebron, who had been to 4 straight finals before. By no means was the year they had a failure. Its their first year playing under a new system and if they don't lose any key players they will be a top 3 team in a week eastern conference again next year. Also multiple #1 seeds have lost in the first round and plenty more have lost in the 2nd. Nothing wrong with getting to the conference finals.

They lost game 3 in OT down 2 starters. Maybe they mailed in game 4 but down 0-3 a lot of teams do that.

Stuff like "heart" "urgency" "will" sometimes are just ways for fans to explain why something happened that they didn't expect to happen. The truth is they weren't that good and overachieved in the regular season. If Wall doesn't break his wrist in 5 places they don't even play the Cavs.

That's the NBA. Overachieving teams who try in the regular season will win in the regular season, the playoffs are all about stars. The 1 exception to the rule was the 2004 Pistons and from what I read, Kobe and Shaq were about ready to kill each other at that point where Shaq actually threatened Kobe with murder.

Look who wins every year. Kobe, Dwayne Wade, Tim Duncan, Lebron James, Shaq, Michael Jordan, . I never understand why the NBA has maintained it's popularity. I think those guys cover about the last 20 years of championships except for a couple. Paul Pierce, Garnett, Ray Allen 1 year.

the best teams with the best players win in the nba because of 7 game series. And people love the best teams with the best players....that's why the nba maintains popularity. It isn't rocket science.

Definitely more predictable than the other sports but I think that is changing a little. Atleast think you'll see less repeat champions going forward.

No shit. I didn't know they play 7 games. That explains it all then. So the MVP of the league against the best player in the League isn't a coincidence? Hold onto your shit for this. The NBA survives off white guys buying tickets.

Wow....so the nba needs people to buy tickets? Have you ever thought of going into the private investigator field? But they need them to watch on tv more....advertising dollars and TV money is pretty much how all sports survive. Even the teams that have half empty arenas make tons per year.

As as far as your mvp thing....that makes zero sense.

You are like a less likeable version of Enfuego. You would argue with me even if you agreed with me. I think there maybe only 1 sun in our galaxy. Thoughts?

The Atlanta Hawks was only one example this year of a league currently lacking star-firepower.

Does anyone really think the teams in the running this season would be relevant the last several years with the squads San Antonio, OKC, Boston, Lakers, Miami etc. had.....???

Tough to know how good the Hawks really were. They lost their stud C for a game. DeMarre Carroll is the only guy on the team that can slow down LeBron and he missed time and was playing at far less than 100% the whole series. They lost their starting SG who really opens up their offense. Team dealt with a lot of stuff in that series and were far from regular season form.

Not even close. How about the time the Spurs player couldn't even keep his shoes on during the loss to the Rockets

They lost because the Cavs were the better team. Their 33-2 streak was impressive but other than that magical run, they were a 27-20 team which projects to about 47-35.
