China is making cold war rhetoric and is threatening the US it will go to war without hesitation.

Is China capable of beating the US in a war? Is China this stupid?

This is as funny as North Korea acting like it would try to launch a nuclear weapon here. Foreigners are weak, short, and usually lack intelligence.

China would be able to defend their homeland, but that's about it. Globally we'd beat them fairly easily, but if we invaded them, a lot of people are going to die.

China has no chance against the U.S. in a real war. And right now China is finally enjoying loosening up and becoming more westernized. Would never come to fruition and no where close to the Cold War.

China winning a war. Mao is not walking through that door. China is the modern day Soviet Union. They want to act like they have influence yet they know they don't. If the Soviets could have beat the USA in a war, they would have attacked but secretly they knew they weren't good enough.

+1 China's economy would be ruined overnight, which would cause major civil unrest. A country like India would be more than happy take China's spot as Walmart's warehouse.

The media lately has been shelling their fear porn lately about China and how they seem fearless to go to war with the US if the the US doesn't get out of their way in the south China sea. WWIII keeps popping in articles going as far to say it's unavoidable with China. I agree China would be very very stupid to pull some shit for they would dearly pay the price. The US certainly will suffer blows and most of us are probably dead but in the end China will be done for good and the US debt paid.

we fight politically correct wars now, so no

if we were fighting for our lives and for our homeland and we used the full might of our military technology, then yes

100% Spot-on !

If we still fought wars like we did with Hiroshima we could defeat any nation , but nowadays we worry about civilian casualties and collateral casualties and fight wars like someone playing video games.

Agree that US would win against Chine in a traditional war.

However im not sure how many wars in the future will be fought in a traditional manner. I'm sure US will continue the traditional fight (missiles from faraway) but any opponent would likely resort to non-traditional warfare.

Somebody like China might have the ability to cause havoc through cyber warfare or something similar. Attacking our financial system or electric grid. Ideas like that would create panic and hysteria and we'd see a lot of what we just saw in Ferguson and Baltimore but on a larger scale.

Im not a conspiracy theory guy or one of those that thinks the world is going to end tomorrow but it just makes sense that if you're an underdog in a war (which presumably everyone is against the U.S.) then you'll resort to these atypical war strategies.

Just throwing that out there because I find it an interesting topic.

The USA has not fought militarily to "protect their homeland" in over 200 years (War of 1812).

THe closest we came was in WWII when both the Japanese and Germans formally declared war on launched attacks in the North Atlantic and a single attack on the territory of Hawaii. However, all combat against both took place in Europe and Far East Asia.

In the year 2015 and forward, no country will launch a military attack on the homeland of any other country who possesses nuclear weapons. THis explains in part why the USA has never been attacked by a foreign military force and also why the USA has never sent troops into another country that possesses nukes.

No non-nuclear war will ever be "won" because the willpower of human beings is far too strong to ever permit an invading force to truly take control of their homeland. See Afganistan, Iraq, Eastern Europe as prime examples

Very good points. Kuwait, Ukraine, and Georgia are recent countries that were invaded and (more or less) "lost".

Cyber warfare is where China is a big, big threat....not only to the US but every other country. The government acts coy about it, but they are 100% behind it. It's a problem and the US is far behind in having proper protections/defenses to protect our cyber assets.

China needs to keep a thumb on North Korea. North Korea is a big threat as their leadership is completely unstable.

China funds their entire navy on the interest they receive from the US debt to them. In WWII the US produced
everything now we are a service economy & thats scary. Kaiser promised to build a ship every day during WWII
and they did it, could we do that now absolutely not. During the Battle of the Bulge the Germans ran out of oil
and gas & the advanced stopped.

Things aren't in the favor of the US to the extent they were in WWII the huge manufacturing capacity of the US
compared to the adversaries is just not there like it was.
