A big deal for a few days, and then that's it,it will not attract any new horse players and will be quickly forgotten by almost everyone

It would be good for horse racing, but if you go by the slow times, I still think this is a weak group of horses he beat this year. Not the best triple crown winner by a long shot. I just wish Smarty Jones or Easy Goer would have had this group of horses to run against. Or else they would have both been TC winners. But that's the luck of the draw...

Very unfair how all these fresh horses are allowed into the belmont

Not to worry as Frosted runs him down at the wire.

Can someone post past horses that had a chance for the triple crown and where they finished in the belmont?

Wouldn't couldn't shouldn't.....Smarty Jones & Easy Goer didn't have what it takes to be a champion.

Or cares about the times.....He crushed and toyed with the competition in the Derby & Preakness.

Stop trying to down play this horses success.

We finally will have a Triple Crown winner.

Mud track...fast track....long or short.....This horse is a BEAST!

AP still has a sore ass from the Kentucky Derby, so I wouldn't say he toyed with them. And the Preakness was the worst field of horses that I've ever seen for that race. Easy Goer would have tore this horse a new asshole. And his nemesis Sunday Silence would have too.

if he does win, when we look back at the year in sports it will unquestionably be the biggest sports accomplishment/event of the year and AP will get athlete of the year, im not kidding. i think its gonna be that big bc of how many horses have come close the last few years and couldnt finish it off and how so many have said it cant be done.

It's about turning away the competition.......No matter who it is.

You'll be the only one that says the competition was weak.....lol.

See you in the Winners Circle.

nobody will care and the horse will be retired about 10 secs after crossing the wire...i actually think it will hurt racing for him to win. at least if you keep dangling that triple crown carrot in front of them they will keep chasing it....if he wins then what do we talk about next year? crickets chirping......

The time is now......The waiting is over.

We'll see if he can get it done. Personally, I hope he wins the TP. I think it would be good for a sport that has lost some popularity in the last decade. But winning the Preakness isn't a very good barometer of how good a horse is since almost no trainers run their horses off of two weeks rest anymore. So most of the decent competition from the Derby scratches out of the Preakness. These days the trainers are looking more at speed than they are endurance. Speed favors these horses in the first two races, but favor endurance in the third. That's why so many horses fail to win the Belmont. It's a totally different race. But I still think in order to win these 3 races in a 5 week period, a horse has to be great, healthy and lucky. AP is a great horse if he can do it. But I still think there were much better out there before him..

Imagine the year Easy Goer would have had as a 3 year old had there been no Sunday Silence? of course one cannot say he would have won all his 2nd place finishes but seems like he would have. What a resume:

Swale
Gotham
Wood Memorial
Kentucky Derby
Preakness
Belmont
Whitney
Travers
Woodward
JC Gold Cup
BC Classic

I think some of the horses that have long winning streaks (cigar, Zenyada??) draw more interest to the general public than a triple crown winner would. Different than those that have a sporting interest in the sport.
