The NBA finals will triple the Stanley Cup finals ratings

Shows you how irrelevant the NHL is. Look at last years San Antonio-Miami final. That averaged a 9.3.

Last year the Kings-Rangers averaged a 2.8, which is the best you can get in terms of major markets. The NBA conference championships last year got 1.5 times the number the NHL stanley cup finals got.

This year you got a Cup final nobody cares about outside of local markets. Tampa Bay is irrelevant, Chicago will show strong, nationally will be weak like usual.

This years NBA finals has big names, and even though the markets are smaller they'll still trounce anything the Cup finals put up, and they'll beat the World Series, like they have the last 3 years.

With the new TV deal, and the youth dismissing baseball, the NBA continues to rise, while MLB continues to decline, and the NHL roams with MLS.

The NBA is now the second sport in America, a firm second.

Who the truly fuck cares about the NBA. Who the fuck cares if it will triple the NHL ratings either as I will not watch a lick of the NBA Finals. So much propaganda that we are fed by ESPN to make NBA irrelevant to me.

They really don't compete with one another.... they are never scheduled on the same day so media can be overwhelmed by that one particular game that night. If ratings are up on the NBA and down on the nhl it isn't because the NBA and its popularity or anything.

I play a lot of poker. It seems no matter the poker room, in all different areas. The popularity of the 4 majors goes NFL>NBA>MLB>NHL. With football being well ahead and the NBA being well ahead of all, NBA being well ahead of the rest, MLB and NHL are closer together on the bottom. This is without taking local teams into consideration.. I play mainly in Philadelphia area rooms, and Philly is considered a "hockey town" compared to most big cities, but if it isn't the Flyers, a NBA playoff game will get much more requests and attention then an NHL playoff game by at least a 3x factor. Poker room is in the suburbs and probably 90% white dudes, so race isn't a factor.

Besides NFL, all sports are increasingly niche. As entertainment spreads out more there are just less and less players that the general public knows.

Who is the biggest star in MLB and NHL? Probably just some old guy like Ortiz or Arod.
