PHILADELPHIA >> Veteran cornerback Byron Maxwell is serious about the Eagles having a chance to go to Super Bowl 50.
<!-- end articleparagraph1.pbo --><!-- start articleparagraph1.pbo -->
The mega-bucks free agent acquisition met the $63 million question, if you will, head on after the OTA practice Tuesday.

“I believe it,” Maxwell said. “It wasn’t like … something to worry about. It was like, alright.”
<!-- end articleparagraph1.pbo --><!-- start articleparagraph1.pbo -->
Maxwell guaranteed the Sports Illustrated MMQB that the Eagles would play in the upcoming Super Bowl in Santa Clara, Calif. He’s the only Eagles player with enough credibility you would listen to as he joins the club after starting at cornerback in the last two Super Bowls for the Seattle Seahawks. The ’Hawks beat the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl XLVIII and were beaten this past February by the New England Patriots.

What makes Maxwell feel the Eagles have what it takes to get there starts with Chip “Sports Science” Kelly, his staff and the personalities on the team.

“The coaching we’ve got here, we’re going to win,” Maxwell said. “There’s the belief, the guys in the locker room, how we jell together. You can see that already. We don’t have any selfish characters. That’s No. 1 on a winning team. You don’t really have selfish characters on a team.”
<!-- end articleparagraph1.pbo --><!-- start articleparagraph1.pbo -->
Maxwell knows about characters. It’s inescapable for anyone who’s been part of the Seahawks culture. In one way or another Seahawks players do something to symbolize they’re all in. Pro Bowl safety Earl Thomas, among others, shows he’s all business by wearing cleats to walk-throughs.
<!-- end articleparagraph1.pbo --><!-- start articleparagraph1.pbo -->
Maxwell didn’t do the cleats. Without getting specific, he sees various and sundry examples of sacrifice on this Eagles team. That’s why he was puzzled by the outside reaction to his Super Bowl spiel.
<!-- end articleparagraph1.pbo --><!-- start articleparagraph1.pbo -->
“Yeah, a little bit,” Maxwell said. “A little surprised but like I said, they warned me before getting here that the Philadelphia media, they take quotes and they run with it.”
<!-- end articleparagraph1.pbo --><!-- start articleparagraph1.pbo -->
Maxwell quickly added he didn’t have a problem with quote running.
<!-- end articleparagraph1.pbo --><!-- start articleparagraph1.pbo -->
“What I’m saying is it’s a very competitive market,” Maxwell said.
<!-- end articleparagraph1.pbo --><!-- start articleparagraph1.pbo -->
The locker room, by the way, is where Maxwell says the road to the Super Bowl starts. No ifs, ands or buts.
<!-- end articleparagraph1.pbo --><!-- start articleparagraph1.pbo -->
“It’s very important,” Maxwell said. “When you get out there on the field and it gets heavy, you need guys to stick together and not come down on each other. You need guys that when a bad play happens, you say, ‘come on bro,’ and you get it together the next play.”
<!-- end articleparagraph1.pbo --><!-- start articleparagraph1.pbo -->
Maxwell intercepted three passes, including one in the playoffs for the Seahawks. Only Richard Sherman had more picks on the squad last year.
