2 unit play and listed pitchers must go

Texas +109 over KANSAS CITY
The last time we backed Jeremy Guthrie, he lasted one inning against the Yanks after giving up 11 runs. The last time we backed Colby Lewis, he didn’t make it out of the third inning after giving up 10 runs to the Indians. Now the two will face one another and we’re much more inclined to take the price tag because not only is Colby Lewis the better pitcher but the Rangers are in much better form than the Royals. Texas has won three in a row and seven of eight. K.C. has lost three in a row and eight of 10. Over the past 10 games, the Rangers are batting .287 while the Royals are batting a league low .198. Over the past 10 games, Texas has scored 50 runs while the Royals have scored 22.

Lewis has allowed 67 hits in 66 innings and has a BB/K split of 15/50. That’s not bad at all. Guthrie has allowed 66 hits in 54 innings and has a BB/K split of 17/20. That’s brutal. Guthrie rebounded after getting pounded by the Yanks by giving up just two hits and one run over 5.2 innings against Cleveland in his last start but it was all smoke and mirrors. His groundball/fly-ball split in that game was 3/15. He needed 105 pitches to get through 5.2 innings and a ton of balls were hit hard. Guthrie’s xERA of 5.41 and 5.80 over his last five starts is the worst xERA in the game among qualified starters. His actual ERA of 6.17 is pretty ugly too. At least Lewis misses bats and throws strikes. He has some very decent numbers against current Royals as well (28 hits in 114 AB’s for an oppBA of .246). The Royals are a laboring team that does not have an edge in any significant category here. The Rangers are a team that is on fire and coming to the park expecting to win. That’s plenty incentive for us to step in.

This one stuck out to me as well. I usually just do parlays in baseball but I'm thinking just taking Texas straight up in this one.
