Would it make sense for a team with excellent pitching/defense to bat their best hitter 1st?

I've been getting into random (mostly stupid) baseball strategy lately and like to ask dumb questions. Say a team has 4 excellent starters and a squad of fairly light hitters who are all excellent fielders minus one guy who has .300 and 40 HR and .420 OBP potential. Would it make sense to maximize the good hitters' at-bats by putting him in the #1 spot in the lineup? Doing so would take away his RBI ability a bit, but he'd be guaranteed to see the most at-bats. Ultimately it wouldn't take many runs to win games for this team so would the RBI dropoff be negated by the increased plate appearances?

Thoughts?
