Bettman: Rule changes approved. 3 on 3 OT for 5 minutes, Coaches' challenge on goalie int and offside goals, faceoff rule.

3 on 3..HAWKS WIN ANOTHER CUP

It will only be in the regular season, and since the Kings had the worst shoot out record in the league I think,

KINGS WIN ANOTHER CUP!

Love the Lightning's advantage here with...

Tampa's a fast team with snipers, so they will benefit. Most important I think us bettors will benefit from not having our capping ruined by shoot outs as often.

Definitely.

We will be sure to see shots on goal in OT go up dramatically.

4 on 4. 3 on 3. Shootout. 1 point for an OT loss. Doesn't matter, it's all a gimmick.

Bring back the tie, damn it.

I like how the Olympics did it, 3 points for a regulation win 2 points ot win 1 point ot loss. I always hated the tie in in the NHL, it's one of the reasons I don't like soccer too.

3 on 3 is ghetto. Can't believe they made this change. You're never going to fix ending a hockey game. The game is not one where goals are easily scored. Either stick with the shootout (maybe even randomize it so teams with great shooters can't just put the same guys out every time) or go back to ties. It's probably going to be fun to watch, but just don't like it. Not sure what makes it any better than a shootout.

There's nothing broken about the way they end hockey games. Current rules are great and I like the 3 on 3 tweak.

Tell that to RenoChazz... his poor boys can't score goals to save their lives unless it's a grind out put in.

I like it and think it would be great if the NFL & NBA changed rules so that teams also have to play short-handed and with more men.

It would add the same excitement as we see when an NHL team is playing 5 on 4 or 5 on 3 ...

They started something like this in the minor leagues last year, and I think shootouts dropped by 60%.

I say the goalies should take off their masks in OT. That will get the game over quickly.

Yet they've won 2 cups since 2012, and will probably get another one in the next two years.

That's actually a good idea! They should set it up like college football. Both teams get a 5 on 4 for 2 minutes. Then a 5 on 3 for 2 minutes, and then just keep going back and forth, haha.
