Has anyone vacationed in Mexico lately?

I've heard great things about places like Cancun and Cabo, but never been. Was thinking about taking a trip down there soon, but I'm a little concerned about safety.

Anyone been lately? Did you ever fear for your safety?

Ive read these Mexican resort towns are fairly safe. But it's Mexico, so...

Nothing to fear if you are not near the boreder. Would also avoid Acapulco area and Ixtapa/Ziho area.

Playa del Carmen is a great area of Mexico...not far from Cancun.

I own a condo and spend at least 8 weeks there a year....never had a problem.

I go to Playa del Carmen every year, it is very nice and very safe. I wouldn't let safety be a concern whatsoever.

Agree with playa del Carmen. Stayed at paradisio. Super clean great food and all inclusive.

Been to both..great places to have a good time..just stay away from the seedy places late at night.

Playa Del Carmen is great..all the way down that coast line works..Tulum ...Mahuhual is a jewel

Thanks for the input guys. I'd more than likely stay at one of those all-inclusive type places and stick to the resort and the beach most of the time. Not really the adventurous or nightlife type. So, I'd do my best to stay out of any seedy type situations.

Cancun vs Cabo? Pacific vs Caribbean side. Any difference in the beaches and the water?

Cancun & Cabo were great destinations in the 70's & 80's, & even 90's.......lots of game shows use to give out trips to those places also.

I wouldn't get near any part of Mexico, screw that.......with the kidnappings, etc.......try Europe, the Carribean islands, or Vegas ......try Costa Rica also.

Yeah it's a super nice place. He got in on the ground floor so I got to stay a week there before the resort even opened to the public. They were fully staffed (it was a "practice month"). We had the run of the place. Have been back at least once a year since.

If you get one of the condos with the big roof area with the hot tub - for 200USD the wait staff will come up and do a Mexican bbq on your roof. So much food.

I wouldn't bet too much on that prediction. A vote for Trump in the Primary is a vote for Hillary in the General, and I don't want her either. But I am definitely hoping he lasts a long time and keeps things entertaining. Best Joke candidate since this guy.

Went to cancun this past xmas with the wife. Great time. Felt very safe. Stuck mostly to hotel and beach. All inclusive. Booked saturday, left thursday. Would happily go back.
